  1. I very much doubt Ashley would have sanctioned the paying of a loan fee, just to allow Woodman to go out for three months. Doesn’t go on loan, requests transfer, sold in summer for £2m Goes on loan, breaks into first team next season, sold to Liverpool for £20m following summer. Guess who wins again.
  2. If that’s a penalty then when VAR gets introduced permanently we need to use our three calls in pulling in the penalty area. 3 penalties a game that will get

    Rolando Aarons

It’s a good loan for him really. Good quality opponents, a manager who knows him and will work with Rafa, and a new experience for him. He has to make a success of it though. Last chance saloon really.
  4. Don’t think he is coming, haven’t heard or seen anything for ages now
  5. I was there too, I saw people leaving the atmosphere that day.
  6. It’s all about Woodman and maximising his potential IMO. Pay £1m loan fee, for this guy then be in a position to command an 8 figure sum for Woodman in a few years. Win win (Perhaps Rafa’s business argument but really he wants Woodman here as a top quality keeper)
  7. This is all about having a third keeper so that we can loan out Woodman give him the games he needs so he can break into the NUFC first team next season and then sell him to Liverpool in 2.5 years for £37m
  8. I wasn’t too keen but now we are where we are I think a loan could help us to right a few wrongs

It's the position we are by far the best covered in, IMO. Got four players that is good enough to play there. Only Lascelles is good enough. The rest are being made to look better by Rafa’s management but ultimately it’s going to hinder the team I.e more focus on full back or central midfielder defending. Improving centre back could potentially unlock other parts of the team and add more attacking impetus
  10. Didn’t think he was a good fit for us personally would have rather made do with what we had up front then strengthen elsewhere if it came down to Sturridge or Ings or no striker

As something me else said we have experimented with wing backs a few times this season but have lacked a little quality both at centre back and left wing back. If we can’t get a striker and now have Kenedy then a better centre half is worth pursuing.

Say what we want about the film critically, but if that is what the young players of today are saying then it makes it the best non-Financial commercial deal in the history of the club and probably also one of the best deals in football, outside of the elite. Sod’s law though is that the period we would have been best positioned to reap the rewards in terms of the films audience growing up, we have Ashley.
  14. Clearly Barca and Liverpool aren’t interested or he would already be on the plane
  15. I actually think there are a few reasons we could actually do this: A) would Rafa know the player and be interested? Yes B) does he fit the club’s model of never breaking its transfer record? £15.7m - Yes C) easily activated release clause at less than player’s potential future value? Yes D) Young? 24 - Yes E) Can sell to bigger club in a few years for a large fee? If Liverpool and Barca are interested but hesitant for whatever reason I’d imagine they would still want to look again when he is 26 with two years of European experience. But then again: A) Lee Charnley B) Justin Barnes C) Mike Ashley
  16. Kenedy must be good, haven’t seen a player transfer break this forum so badly since Obafemi Martins.

I feel that this is the most unexpected signing since Pardew signed Tevez and Mascherano for West Ham
  18. If only John Hall had Lord Mike’s brilliant business acumen and asked for an extra 14%

    Rafa Benítez

The same Allardyce that he sacked? And then this summer told Sky that it was the one decision he regretted and how sorry he was. In the same interview he said how amazing Rafa was. You don’t think he hasn’t learned from Keegan? He hasn't learnt from anything else. This is where we are all going wrong as a fans, we paint Ashley as a stupid buffoon. He has done many things wrong to this club, but it is all calculated, it is all purported. He is a billionaire. He is far from stupid.

  22. I was watching a documentary about Robert Maxwell and how he was almost certainly a psychopath. There is a misconception that a psychopath is someone violent or crazy etc but in actual fact a psychopath can exist in other forms and use those traits to work themselves right to the top of the business world. The criteria applied to Robert Maxwell could well be applied to the media portrayal of Ashley.

So you honestly think Ashley would part with the compo and risk his chance at the PL money (more so than he already is)? The alleged interest in the club didn't surface til after the summer, no? What stopped him before that, when Allardyce was available? I believe he wanted to force Rafa to resign first. I also believe that he wasn’t happy with how close the Championship was last year and after walking it with Hughton he doesn’t rate Rafa at all. But whereas before he was worried about compo he could well be past that. He is a cornered and wounded animal. He’s lost but he is going to damn well make sure that we all lose too. Just a question of whether it is today, a few weeks, or he turns the screw on Rafa even further to incite a resignation.
