I think the defenders and central midfielders have been excellent both as a defensive unit and a platform to go forward. The front 4 haven't clicked yet. We are n a good position. Villa look desperate.

That glasses coach looks dreamy

Shouldn't McClaren be busy enjoying Freshers week in Manchester. Get himself a £1 Dominos?

Just checked, 5 in 15.

Scored 10 in 40 appearances after promotion. A lot of appearances as a sub or left winger under Pardew.
-
Lovenkrands was nowhere near as effective as Gouffran appears to be now in this purple patch. Scored 1 in 2, and a much better ratio when you look at starts only. And how much did he affect games? For someone who was meant to be a pure finisher, he was just not up to it and was pushed out of the side by Marlon Harewood. What the hell? He scored 16 goals that season. Harewood got 1. Again this is in the backdrop of playing a number of those appearances from the wing or from the bench. Hughton and Pardew liked to use him not as an out and out striker but instead as someone who could make clever runs off the ball to create gaps for Nolan and Carroll to exploit. He was a highly effective and underrated player for us at the time he was with us.

Lovenkrands was completely obsolete after we got promoted. Scored 1 in 4, pretty good for a substitute/squad player of a newly promoted side.
-
The most comparable player would be Lovenkrands, good in the Championship, can fulfil a useful squad role in the Premier League under the right conditions.

Just read the Chronicle see how they compare (same ownership after all) and from what I can see our reciprical discussion seems to be a quick poll to establish where we see Villa fitting amongst our rivals, and a few Twitter posts where fans are puzzled by this strange obsession.

Good god they are obsessed.

Why do people have to be considered a dickhead if they don't want HBA back. I lived it when he was here, but; I don't think he will hit the heights of his last spell with is. He is 29 now. I don't think his game suits Rafa at all. For the first time in a long time the manager is the most important person at the club and it needs to stay that way. Would love to see him back at SJP as an opponent or in a testimonial so we can afford him a good send off.

Lee Ryder will be winning the Pulitzer Prize if he is up against the Birmingham lot. "Only a slightly lower attendance 15 years ago. Won loads of trophies during the reign of Queen Victoria."
-
The cups will be better if they had a way into the Champions League, maybe the Community Shirld should be made into a League Cup vs FA Cup playoff. So not to devalue the league 3rd vs 4th could also playoff. Maybe this could be the lucrative foreign-played game the Premier League have long wanted.

Gaël Bigirimana rejoins Coventry on a permanent basis
James replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
Accounts I have heard of Pardew (eg that West Ham PA book) is that he has a vey narrow view of the world and believes in things like positive energy and other daft things. You can see things like Bigirama's religious requests, Ben Arfa nearly joining that sect, and even Jonas cancer being things that would have freaked out this described version of Pardew, creating negative energies he would have wanted to avoid. Also from accounts e.g Crumpy of Bigirama's pushing of his Christian mission was very much at odds with a predominantly Muslim or non-religious first team. So I can see how he may have got wrongly ostracised. Football is a narrow minded business, and individual differences are not widely celebrated. -

There is no love-in, just regret that the club weren't able to progress a player who looked like he could have grown into a handy layer. -
Only us and Arsenal will be happy with that draw.
