  1. At the end of the day, there is no reason we can't have a good season with the players we've got. Anyone else we get is a bonus. I don't think any players we can realistically sign can offer much improvement to our potential for this season.
  2. Johnson should be in that midfield. I suspect they'll either go 451, or Corluka's off, so Kompany will play in defence.
  3. Even if we don't sign anyone, we've still got a good enough side for a nice top half finish.
  4. GeJon hasn't posted since the news broke. Coincidence or not?
  5. He looks more comfortable on the left hand side. I do recall a preseason game with Duff on the right and Jonas on the left.
  6. Fergie wouldn't sell.
  7. If I was a player looking to sign a five year deal, the fact that a club are or aren't in the UEFA Cup would have zero effect on my decision.
  8. If I was to compile a shortlist of players I know about: 1. Turan 2. SWP 3. Valencia 4. Larsson 5. Lennon

    Wednesday's Agenda

I've found the agenda of the meeting: 11am - Tea or coffee 1130am - Inform Keegan of Villa bid for Milner 12noon - Release statement regarding Milner's transfer request 1230pm - Read Newcastle-Online to research opinions on Milner 1pm - Lunch 2pm - Continue reading N-O 4pm - Vote on whether to accept bid 5pm - Inform KK that because of naughty Milner, talks on Owen's contract and future transfers will have to wait until the Christmas party.
  10. Considering Smith was Milner's bestest friend at the club, does that mean he's off too. Perhaps Milner is disgusted at our attempts to offload Smudger[/false hope]
  11. Let us not forget that statistically he was the worsest of all the passers at the club.
  12. Milner had a good game last night, mostly because he was trying harder than most, but in terms of ability he has always been one of the worser players in and around the first team.

  14. Why would he not be interested in Man City or Everton but would be in coming here? KK that much of a pulling factor? KK was the man who made him.
  15. Absolutely. and how much are we forking out for our “recruitment team”? – start earning it soon methinks!!!!!!!!!!! They've probably all earnt their wages with Gutierrez. what even when you consider how many players have left in the summer when we had a small squad already? Hold on to your seats it’s going to be a bumpy ride unless we get bodies in – good ones preferred. They've saved us at least £5m on Jonas' asking price, and that is probably more than their yearly wage, hence they have earned their wages (if we are using a cost benefit analysis of course)
  16. He's said he doesn't want to go back to Citeh because of the regime, we can offer more wages than Everton, and KK was the man who made him. All this talk of clubs being in Europe is a red herring when it comes to the likes of Everton. They can provide a guaranteed 1 year out of a 5 year contract in Europe. Not all that enticing really.

  18. I'd go for Turan personally, and let him and Gutierrez alternate wings.
  19. Re first sentance. What a load of rubbish! OK, so he could have put a request in sooner. Maybe something has happened to tip the balance in the favour of moving in the last week. Would you rather he drops hints in the papers that he wants awy whilst sitting on a loyalty bonus from us? Its refreshing to see players slap in a transfer request when they want to leave. Barry could learn a lot here Has Milner not stated that he has been unhappy for ages, hence the link with Villa for the past four or five transfer windows? I could be imagining it, but I could have sworn that he has been "on his way out" for a couple of years now. In any case, I agree that it is refreshing to see players hand in transfer requests but, once again, the power has been displaced from the club and onto the player. He is under contract and should Villa (or whichever club is apparently interested) decide not to pick him up, I wish him all the luck in the world trying to perfect his skills in the reserves. I'm so gald Jonas saw out his contract Point missed. If Jonas announced that he intended to leave a few minutes after proclaiming that he was happy to stay, I would have no problems with the fans of his old club being annoyed. Just because we have taken advantage of another player getting out of his contract does not mean that we have to be happy when one of ours does it, especially if Milner has been unsettled by O'Neil. So in an interview just after a game which we won Milner is asked about the speculation (direct question). 'Actually I'm off to speak to the gaffa tomorrow to slap in this transfer request' Would you be happy? Ever since Milner returned from his loan he has been nothing but professional in the way he has applied himself on the pitch and in the press. If he wants to leave good luck to the guy, I personally have no problem in him deciding he wants to leave. If he stays for whatever reason you can guarantee that he will continue to give 100% on th epitch, thats all you can ask for really Well said Haircut. If he was as pious as you guys are making out, he should have handed his request in at least six weeks ago.
  20. It's early doors, but he's the best passing Centre Half I've seen play for the club. Think it was about 107 mins his 1st misplaced/intercepted pass, and as you've mentioned hit a few superb passes along the ground straight from defence up to Milner/Gutierrez bypassing the midfield. Would be interesting to see his (Opta?) stats for last night as a good percentage weren't just easy passes sideways at the back. Don't think I've ever seen Scott Parker or Nicky Butt hit a perfect 40? yard pass forwards along the ground haha!!! woodgate was severely underrated for his passing, he was great remember everton away where he took the ball down under pressure, skipped away from a player and sent a gorgeous ball out to robert left wing who (a) belted it in the near top corner or (b) didn't just can't remember if the goal robert scored was from that pass, think it was...anyway it was quality Albert was better than Woodgate, and what we've seen of :colo: so far when it comes to passing.
  21. Judging from what Ken Bates has said, whoever wants him has tapped him up. I'm sure we could get a better replacement once we get him off our books. Good riddance.
