  1. Got about £250,000 now which is excellent given the target date for £500,000 is March 2010.
  2. Round 3 shall be starting in 10 mins or so.
  3. Article about Given on the main site: http://www.newcastle-online.com/2008/04/16/should-he-stay-or-should-he-go-shay-given/#more-979
  4. You could argue though that it is none of Allardyce's signings that eventually rescued us from relegation, and that it took the removal of Allardyce's 'star signing' from the first XI to start getting results. In fact, Allardyce sold the two players that kept us away from the relegation scrap the season before. Souness failed, no doubt about it, but at least he had a couple of valid excuses, and at least there were a few interspersed positive moments. Did he fuck. And I voted for Souness, because he destroyed us. Solano and Dyer? Oba and Milner kept us away from the relegation scrap far more than either of those two did. Solano played predominantly as a right back, and Dyer predominantly didn't play. I think you'll find if you look that when Dyer did play, he got the goals and key contributions and we got the results that inevitably kept us away from relegation.

  6. 50 votes = ~ 10 people man. 50 votes of five. No way were there 250 votes on there. Just admit it, you fucked up Yes, there were only 223 votes

  8. Top 10 will go to Round 3 tomorrow. Sorry to those who felt I closed down the voting for R1 early, but I just couldn't see much changing for the low scorers after 50 votes had been cast.
  9. McClen is off the list btw because I realised he didn't match the qualification criteria.
  10. I'm only taking away those with one or less votes to tidy it up for now.

  12. This is just an initial list by the way, I'll cut it down and reset later.
  13. If you've played, you are there, it's only fair. They obviously won't get votes though.
  14. Above is an uber-list of the 53 players who have played in 15+ games since 2003. Who in your opinion are the worst of the lot and why? You can vote for five players. Round 2: You can now vote for three players Round 3: You can now vote for two players Semi final: You can now vote for one player
  15. The difference being a good manager came in after Allardyce who got the best out of those players, Souness was followed by Glenn Roeder who didn't get the best out of anyone. Who's to say how the likes of Parker, Solano, Luque etc would have done for us under Keegan's management? That team finished 7th under Roeder. He was an improvement over Souness. Worst points total in the PL so far for the Toon was under Roeder as well. Which is why our current run of form should lead to happiness rather than hype.

  17. I voted for Allardyce. At least Souness had a cup run and a little youth developmentto his name.
  18. Now that the dust has settled on our most recent managerial change around, I'm interested in seeing people's opinions on this matter. Who did you vote for and why? (PS choice of period of time is down to the age demographics on here)
  19. I don't think anyone can judge his training one way or the other based on a 90 second clip in which he is partially heard and not seen, and the context is not explained.
  20. Didn't Shearer kill Keith Gillespie, such that the Keith Gillespie we see today isn't Keith Gillespie, just like Paul McCartney isn't Paul McCartney?
  21. James

    Alan Smith

3rd most fouls in the league this season. I haven't checked, but I think he has played less games than the two before him.
  22. 1-0 Newcastle Enrique's been hitting a few piledrivers recently, and I have a feeling that when he scores, he really scores. He'll get the goal.
  23. Have to take into account the windiness there yesterday. The coastal setting/low rise stands made it difficult for the players to play a decent pass.
