  1. Given never used to do any muscle, but his groin has been weak since the stomach injury. We'll be seeing quite a bit of Harper again this season, and given that Given may become a bit stop start in terms of appearances, he may have peaked two seasons ago.
  2. Remember when I said that we needed more clocks on the pitch, and that it was worrying that the likes of Taylor were running to the dugout in the last 5 mins just to find out how much longer is left, and everybody had a go at me? Looks like someone agrees with me.
  3. No fucking idea. Don't worry, I'm usually around on matchdays.
  4. Three months since the poll started and now only one week until the start of season. How about I refresh the poll, adding more players to the list?
  5. Thanks again for the info.
  6. Sounds like nonesense to me. Why would we go after Baines when we've almost completed the transfers of Dragutinovic and Enrique? We have our top class experienced left back and top class young left back sorted right there. There's no need for Baines.. 352? What? The 3 part of that all left-backs? Two left backs (DLC and WBL), with one more as backup.

    Kieron Dyer

Booing is best for Dyer in my opinion. Shock him int a depressed state, and let Sam Allardyce get him out of it, which usually yields the best response from that particular player from past experience.
  8. Oh dear. To be honest, if someone is idiotic enough to ring those Premium rate numbers, they deserve to lose money.

You'd have him ahead of Barton and Geremi in the middle or Milner on the right? If he stays, he'll start the season on the bench, but if mentally up to it, which you can never be sure about with Dyer, he'll be back in the first team by October, with Milner on the left, Dyer on the right, Geremi and Smith in the centre. Barton of course injured with his broken foot, and Zoggy on the bench. Keeping dyer just extrapolates the strength of depth in the attacking half of our team, and unless we really need to clear up financially, why sell him for less than he's worth?

If Dyer stays, he will stay as a first team player and will feature very regularly.

  13. f*** me, journalism in the UK is appalling. Someone has altered a direct quote. Good spot.

What! Unable to undermime Ashley over incoming transfers, the nationals now try to portray him as an unrealistic negotiator picking on those little clubs out there.
  15. Three past NUFC managers were kind enough to offer their views on new and imminent signings: Mark Viduka Glenn Roeder: I like Mark, I tried to get him last season. However, Glenn Roeder does not panic and overspend on short-term buys, so I went for Sibierski instead. Graeme Souness: This is a man's game, and Viduka is a big man, but he has played for Celtic and thus can't be considered a proper player. It's a bad move. Sir Bobby Robson: Viduka was one of my signings, I brought him in to play alongside Jason Euell when Shearer and Bellamy were injured, only once I got him, he told me that his name was Jonathan and that he plays in defence. Joey Barton Graeme Souness: I was telling David Murray the other day that one player I would love to see at Rangers is Joey Barton. The lad is a proper little Premiership player, and would fight for the manager if asked, which I like to see in a proper player. Glenn Roeder: What happenned to Steve Sidwell? I don't see how they can all be friends in the dressing room. Also, what about the time he stubbed out a cigar in an academy player's eye? Do you think I could have got Joe Cole, Michael Carrick and Frank Lampard where they are now with that kind of figure around? Bobby Robson: I do not understand this transfer. Warren was certainly a good servant to the club, but he is old, and I let him go to Derby at the right time. David Rozehnal Glenn Roeder: I saw him play Wales for the Czech Republic, but wasn't sure, so I think Sam has moved too soon. I would have thought it would be best to scout him personally for a year, sending Lee Clark and Terry Mac when I couldn't make it. Geremi Sir Bobby Robson: Doesn't sound like a good move, I wouldn't want my players to be porn stars, I'd want them to be football players, as porn stars aren't good enough to play at this level. Glenn Roeder: Glenn Roeder doesn't use injuries as an excuse, but Geremi can play anywhere, which means that injuries wont be so much of a problem for Newcastle next season with Geremi around. Graeme Souness: A proper player, a proper winner at Chelsea. I certainly couldn't go home to my wife and son everyday having failed to sign proper players, and I'm sure Allardyce is no different. Alan Smith Graeme Souness: I can't see how a gay icon can be a proper player. Graeme Souness is a modern man about these things, but that signing just isn't proper. Bobby Robson: When I arrived, Alan was going through a bad patch, but I brought him to one side, and told him to forget about his general play and just play to score. His career was failing, and I saved it. Cacapa Graeme Souness: A Brazilian? All fancy flicks that get you nowhere. Proper British players are what's needed. I had the same problem at Benfica with Deco, so I bought Mark Pembridge. Glenn Roeder: This is not a player I've encountered. I've asked around some of my contacts, and they say that there is no point filling up a squad place for the sake of it and I agree as it was in my Pro License. Jose Enrique Sir Bobby Robson: One of the best players I've ever had the privelige to manage. A great player and a great man. Graeme Souness: Luis Enrique's cousin isn't he? My friend Michael Robinson says he's good, so worth a late punt even though I haven't seen him play.
  16. Reuters reporting this as well.
  17. Its hard to count Bernard though. Definitely optimistic.
  18. Remember when our representatives touched down in Barcelona, and people said that we had gone there as a diversion to distract the media from other Spanish targets? They might have been right.
  19. The player still needs to come here to have a medical and sort out personal terms. Only thing official is that Villareal believe that they've agreed a fee with us.
  20. The triggering of a clause makes a change to be in our favour. tbf, we did that with Barton too.
  21. Villareal's Official Site. Have you come across him while in Spain?
  22. Ringo Starr is a fan then?
  23. Its not possible that we've stuck two irons in the fire with these two left backs and only intend to pull one out?
