  1. Previous estimates of Dyer's wage have been £60,000-65,000. Common media practise it would seem to add £20,000 to estimated wages of high earners.

    UEFA CUP

I take it that all the mix up is that people are mistakingly thinking that this thread is about the UEFA Cup, even though the thread title states that it is about the UFEA Cup?
  3. Gerraway man. Away games- Stand up. If you don't like, don't go the away games. Did you read beyond the first line? If you did, you should have realised that I wasn't being serious.
  4. To be honest, they are only thinking of the kids. If adults stand up, the kids wiill have to stand up to see, and that means that Dave wont be able to see with the gang of four year old kids in front of him.
  5. Given's got a good chance of being fit. If not, Harper can play, with Krul on the bench. Back 4 versus Chelsea deserve to keep their place. Likewise for midfield four, although with Parker fit, someone is bound to go. Roeder will bottle any decisions by "resting" Milner. Martins will start. I think Reading will require a little experience to see off, so I'd keep Carroll out of the starting XI, and he'll probably only make the squad if Owen doesn't make it. Shola has come through two 70 min spells unscathed, and is probably the best man for this job.
  6. Woodgate isn't fast, but isn't slow either. It is his quickness of thought that makes him look quick. His brain is as such that he could walk straight into the Newcastle XI after a 3 month layoff, and look a class ahead of all players, including Shearer. When Woodgate signed for us, he had the best current ability of any player in the squad.
  7. Yeah, but he's a made a verbal agreement to sign for Real Madrid. Ah that makes more sense. I was reading it as 'Middlesborough sign Saviola from Real Madrid on a free transfer.'
  8. Hold on, doesn't Saviola play for Barcelona?

  10. How many times do I have to tell people - he's not a full back - never has been, never will be. Seems to have a good goalscoring ratio though, if you also consider reserve matches.
  11. This is why it would be ideal if we could get Owen fit and running from Reading onwards. He'll be lacking sharpness, but we need to see if he can help the team by linking with the wingers and Martins in such a way that he can push the opposition defence back, keep possession, and even get in goalscoring chances. I dont expect he'll immediately return as a megafit scoring machine, but there are going to be little signs that show that having him in the team is going to reduce the number of times the ball comes straight back at us. If there are no signs of this by August 20th, we should sign a striker (mess around with this striker a bit, making it look like we intend to go through with it, then cancel at the last minute if Owen and Martins seem to be working).
  12. I thought Edgar deserved a new contract. I know Cav is off to the USA on a scholarship. Pure guesswork by nufc.com Roeder had already said that a contract offer was on the table for Edgar, and that they were looking at loaning him. .com are crap these days, they don't closely follow events, then make sweeping statements that turn self made speculation into facts.
  13. Will be an absolute fiasco, building it, if things are similar to other Portsmouth seafront construction projects. Good design though. Conveys the ambition town officials have for the city, so getting planning permission will be easy. Council actually probably reccomended it.
  14. Person he'd most like to meet: Tommo It's Porridge.
  15. I've just had a look. That was written by Porridge - I know his style.

    Alan Ball Dies

Thats a bit of a suprise. RIP
  17. Crazy, isn't it. You can finish 6th and still qualify for the Champions League. Madness! 2nd - 5th in the playoff, isn't it? Aye, and 6-9 in a playoff for an Intertoto place That would be great if we had that in the Premiership tbh

    Player of the Season

How can you include Carroll, Patisson, O'Brien and Edgar in the poll who have all played less than 5 games, and then not include Luque who has played in more and scored?[/Luque-fanboy]
  19. Van der Sar G Neville R Ferdinand Vidic Evra Ronaldo Scholes Gerrard Giggs Drogba Berbatov
  20. Being Player of the Year automatically makes you better than the young player. Another youngster ought to have received recognition, the Premiership isn't solely about one player, no matter how good they are.
  21. Don't really see the point of allowing him to win both awards to be honest.

    Carr

I think its very much a case of: 'I'm playing out of position, so I'm going to have to make an effort.' if he tried as hard and concentratedas hard as he has done atleft back, when playing right back, he'd be a canny player. He showed at Spurs that he can be good when he wants. Mygripe with carr has always been about mental attitude rather than ability levels.
  23. In the past, we've had players like Shearer, Speed, Bellamy who have been motivated to win for every single minute of every single game they play. Although the manager must take some responsibility for motivation, certain players, particularly the more senior influential players play an important role in getting all eleven players motivated while playing. After all, once on the pitch, there isn't much a manager can do from the sidelines. Some players dont have the natural drive of others, so it is up to other players to find it. We need to get some determined and inflential players back into the starting lineup, particularly up front. I want to see Emre, Parker, Carr and Given taking up more motivational attitudes on the pitch, as they've got it in them, but seem to think that it is others responsibilities.
  24. Thats for all the clubs with players called up, so base dot current selections, we'd get about a 10th of that, wheras manyoo would get over a 3rd of it.
  25. Harsh on Nobby, surely he's been better than Dyer? Wayne Bridge has been Chelsea's best player, its been tough for Dyer so far, but he has kept the ball well, bringing it back to Solano who has been afforded too much space by Kalou. Solano may be looking the better of the two, but its been an easier job for him so far, and Dyer is playing a disciplined if unspectacular shift.
