We had lost the game before it started due to our motivation, and our mentality on how to approach the fixture. Bobby, Souness, Keegan, Gullit and Dalglish all possessed experience at winning these kind of ties as either a player or manager, while Bobby and Keegan would have definitely had them all motivated. Subsequently, I could see all of them getting the team playing much better than Roeder did last night.

Duff deserves singling out. If I was manager, I would have announced on live television that I expected Duff to pay back the fans for not only their tickets, but also their travelling expenses. perhaps Prima Donna is the wrong word to use. Perhaps I should call them individuals. Right now, we have a team of individuals rather than a team. Given is an individual, not a team player. We need to builsd a team, starting from the back, and for me, Given is expendable if we could sign someone like Ben Foster, or even Man City's Isaksson.

Trouble is, I think the Premiership is riddled with shit keepers (the British and Irish ones), and Shay is easily good enough to be better than them all, although Foster is now really coming through pretty well. In fact other shit keepers make Given look world class. We need to look abroad, there are good keepers out there who maybe aren't as good at shotstopping, but have a much better all round game.

As far as I'm concerned, we had lost the game before kickoff. The players were not tactically or mentally prepared. Roeder had absolutely no clue as to how to approach the game, and there was not one plasyer on the pitch ready to stand up and be counted.

He definitely could have done better with the first.
