  1. By the way, hope you beat Fiorentina today, but also I hope you tire yourselves out in the process with Thursday in mind.
  2. Why do all the other managers get their full stats, and Roeder only gets this season? Saying "permanent" is an obtuse and dim-witted caveat to skew the facts. Because unlike the other managers, Roeder went through a period where he was unable to make any changes to anything except team lineups, whereas other managers got to do whatever they wanted right from the start. During this period, shepherd made sure he had Tommy Craig and Alan Shearer sticking pretty close to him. Now Roeder is there on his own, things have got much, much worse.
  3. OK, now read the statistics for wins in the Premier League as PERMANENT manager. It is a very similar story...
  4. Yeah. That's not the only competition we're in though, and it wasn't for any previous managers. Looks like you are contradicting your own statistics... Not at all. I'm quoting the our most recent managers overall records, those having been managers in the premier league era. OK, I'll forgive the ambiguity, give me a minute to find some PL statistics...
  5. Yeah, that's just semantics. Not statistics. Not facts. Semantics paint a better picture than statistics though. Perhaps you would like to read the statistics in my sig... That's another thing you've got wrong, since being named permanent he's won 43% of his games. That is from the date of Newcastle announcing that they were going to request that the PL approved his appointment. Since the PL approved his appointment, and we have been able to confirm him officially, we have won 20% of our league matches. You're perpetuating your stupidity. Why is your sig only includiong premier league for Roeder but all games for anyone else? You state in your own sig that you are using Premier League statistics.

  9. Roeder is statistically the best manager Newcastle have EVER had. FACT!! Do you lot just overreact like this to have something to chat about on here? Statistics show that since Roeder has been permanent manager, he's been one of the worst. FACT!! Also, Carver's 100% record must make him our best ever manager if thats the case? I suspect that during the caretaker tenure, Roeder was getting a lot of help with his decisions from Tommy Craig and Alan Shearer. Video footage seems to suggest this. Carver was temporary. Which statistics show Roeder to be the worst? I'm basing my statement on the fact that he's won more games than any previous manager percentage wise, and he's took more of the points he's played for than any other manager (wins and draws). He's took over 63% of points, Keegan was 62% and George Martin 57%. Part of managing is choosing your back-room staff. He should be praised if his staff helped him do the job. Are you saying that's a bad thing? The staff who helped him were the only people he could work with while a caretaker boss. He is now full-time boss and able to choose his own staff - where is Tommy Craig, the individual often seen deep in conversation with Roeder immediately prior to substitutions, now? As a permanent manager of Newcastle United. Roeder has won just 20% of his league games. Even Souness had a much better record as permanent manager, especially at home.

  11. It's good to see teams from the 'poor South' come along and challenge the dominance of the 'rich North.'
  12. Player performance was good, especially in first half, and even the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half. It was the managerial performance which was the problem. Charlton bought on the extra midfielder and sat in their own half, and let us run ourselves into the ground. On the hour, Roeder had to respond by bringing on Milner to run at people, and Luque to cause some problems from deep. We were unthreatened to the point that we could have taken off the semi-injured Parker, and the inneffectual Carr without Charlton creating openings. As soon as we got the goal, we could have then taken off Rossi and replaced him with Taylor, and hit Charlton on the counter-attack. Roeder is an absolutely appalling manager when it comes to matchdays in the league, and should be sacked.

Invicta, when's the Special Bus coming to pick you up?
  14. An impressive 57 for me so far today, with Moore and Richards points still to come...

  16. It's Martins' 22nd/28th/29th/77th birthday today, hope he scores.
  17. It wasn't Shola or Bramble that did it - turns out he was shot in the eye with a very small bullet by a Charlton fan. Here is the culprit: http://wwwhome.cs.utwente.nl/~teijgele/TLW/Sniper%20cat.jpg
  18. I'll probably get linked to an American website, and you know what Americans are like when it comes to accounts, balance sheets etc. Newcastle's accounts are prepared under IFRS - whcih are closer to traditional US GAAP than UK. Which words do you expect T27 to get - IFRS, GAAP or UK? What does T27 stand for?
  19. OK. Can I make it clear that I do Economics, not Financial accounting, and therefore there is no actual reason for me to know this stuff. I did Economics too, and I can't swear to it, but I'm sure I wouldn't have expected an employer to be currently liable for all future earnings of its employees. If that's the case, can I show all of my future profits from now til the end of time as an enormous asset? bluebigrazz.gif The difference I've perceived though, is that you can be sacked, made redundant etc with 4 weeks notice. The contracts players sign are a lot different, as they are for a fixed duration of time, and therefore, a club has to pay out the contract if they want to release the player. Not that you do any accounting at work (despite being an accountant) so you wouldn't know

  22. Hmm. I always thought that if you turn a light on, you are held liable to pay the future electricity bill. I would have thought that player contracts are different to standard employment contracts in that we agree a contract with a player, it is binding, and the contract is very difficult to cancel, and therefore, we are liable to pay out the contract in it's entirety in the future.
  23. The liabilities isn't so worrying as some might think if my facts are right. A liability is something that we have signed a contract to pay up, so future wages will all have to count as part of our liabilities.
  24. Was I the only person who heard Roeder state that Zoggy had signed a new contract at that phone-in a couple of months back?
  25. The main purpose of this piece was not necessarily to endorse Gary Speed as potentially the next Newcastle manager, but to: a) raise doubts as to whether a top manager that would want to change the culture of the club could succeed with such conservative individuals as Shepherd around the place. Therefore, as long as Shepherd remains in charge, we have to find an excellent manager who can conform with the club - and that makes it a lot more difficult to identify any candidates. b) To point out that Shepherd’s suppossed last throw of the dice i.e. the appointment of Shearer would be a bad move, as there are other players out there who make better management material than Shearer ever will.
