It wasn't Shola or Bramble that did it - turns out he was shot in the eye with a very small bullet by a Charlton fan. Here is the culprit: http://wwwhome.cs.utwente.nl/~teijgele/TLW/Sniper%20cat.jpg

I'll probably get linked to an American website, and you know what Americans are like when it comes to accounts, balance sheets etc. Newcastle's accounts are prepared under IFRS - whcih are closer to traditional US GAAP than UK. Which words do you expect T27 to get - IFRS, GAAP or UK? What does T27 stand for?

OK. Can I make it clear that I do Economics, not Financial accounting, and therefore there is no actual reason for me to know this stuff. I did Economics too, and I can't swear to it, but I'm sure I wouldn't have expected an employer to be currently liable for all future earnings of its employees. If that's the case, can I show all of my future profits from now til the end of time as an enormous asset? bluebigrazz.gif The difference I've perceived though, is that you can be sacked, made redundant etc with 4 weeks notice. The contracts players sign are a lot different, as they are for a fixed duration of time, and therefore, a club has to pay out the contract if they want to release the player. Not that you do any accounting at work (despite being an accountant) so you wouldn't know

Hmm. I always thought that if you turn a light on, you are held liable to pay the future electricity bill. I would have thought that player contracts are different to standard employment contracts in that we agree a contract with a player, it is binding, and the contract is very difficult to cancel, and therefore, we are liable to pay out the contract in it's entirety in the future.
-
The liabilities isn't so worrying as some might think if my facts are right. A liability is something that we have signed a contract to pay up, so future wages will all have to count as part of our liabilities.

Was I the only person who heard Roeder state that Zoggy had signed a new contract at that phone-in a couple of months back?

The main purpose of this piece was not necessarily to endorse Gary Speed as potentially the next Newcastle manager, but to: a) raise doubts as to whether a top manager that would want to change the culture of the club could succeed with such conservative individuals as Shepherd around the place. Therefore, as long as Shepherd remains in charge, we have to find an excellent manager who can conform with the club - and that makes it a lot more difficult to identify any candidates. b) To point out that Shepherd’s suppossed last throw of the dice i.e. the appointment of Shearer would be a bad move, as there are other players out there who make better management material than Shearer ever will.

Its confirmed on .cock

Quick question, if the choice was between Shepherd appointing Speed, or Shepherd turning up at the BBC Studio to serenade Shearer with 'The Long and Winding Road,' what would you choose?

You forget that their investigations into a takeover have been rumbling on for some time. How long did the Abramovich deal take? Things may have been going on in the backgroung for a while, but it seemed like a bolt out the blue when it actually went through. This isn't an Abramovich situation though, this is a Glazer. Negotiate with one shareholder then another, then another, always looking for the best value for money. Find out who wants to cling on tto their shares and avoid negotiations, and finally accumulate enough shares to trigger a complete takeover.
-
It's going to take months to happen, these things always do, and by then, we could be in big trouble.

I wonder, if it were a possibility, how well Sven would do here?... if you were to refer to paragraph eight:

Do you trust Shepherd to get the right man in? His track record says he'll not and we'll be after another manager in a few months, Freddy has lost the trust of the fans and must go. I dont trust Shepherd's ability to make a good long term managerial appointment, but right now, we are going nowhere but down, and I very much doubt that any takeover will happen until the end of the season. Something must be changed, and fast, even for a short term boost. We must make sure that Shepherd knows he isn't wanted, but we must also realise that something has to be done in the short term and fast. I'm focusing my energies on reccommending new management for now, just in case Shepherd decides that he must listen to the fans this time around.

To be honest, calling for Shepherd's head will be futile, for him leaving is not as simple as a manager leaving. He would have to sell his shares and shit, and that takes time. Otherwise, he is just taking a backseat, and letting the Halls run things which is just as bad. We should make Shepherd feel as unwanted as possible so he does go if and when a reasonable bid comes in. All this could happen too late, we need to get a new manager in, and we need to get Shearer into some enlarged role at the club so there is someone to protect the new manager from Shepherd's antics.

Games Luque played in (under Roeder): Sunderland, Lillestrom, Wigan, Aston Villa, Ventspills. Games Luque scored in: Sunderland, Lillestrom and Wigan (bad offside decision). Game Martins played in: Every match since Aston Villa Game Martins scored in: West Ham. ****ing silly to write off a player like that, especially when you consider that people are mostly judging him by the games where he was thrown into the deep end by a clueless manager carrying a personal vendetta. Incredible piece of spin there, Blair would be proud. Funny how you can count Luque's goal versus Lillestrom yet ignore Martins' brace versus Talinn.

Why the need to bump a thread that was posted in less than a minute before? The post a minute before was made while, I was posting, sorry. Any chance this could get stickied so as many people see it as possible. More likely to be noticed if it doesn't get stickied to be honest. Also to be honest, nothing is happenning with this protest, there is no organisation, no common agreement, nothing. At the moment, it is just an incoherent rabble doing their own thing that is bound to get unnoticed, unheard, and easily brushed under the carpet.

Are us ex-topic mods actually allowed to merge threads? I just assumed it was a left over bit of code that Bluf & co. forgot to fix.

I'm going to throw another name into the frame later when a writer gets around to proofreading the second half of my article. Keep your eyes peeled onthe main site. of the four on the poll, Ranieri is my favourite.

Roeder will keep his job, afterall, Shepherd has just let him appoint a new assistant.
-
He's come out of retirement so he can play for Plymouth.

Interesting read NE5, but there are a few loopholes - you regard the Keegan appointment as lucky, yet the appointment of Robson was exceptional. Couldn't they both have been lucky appointments, after all, in the end of the day, you never now how a manager/player is going to turn out at this club.
