No chance. Why would Ashley put the money foward to sign another full back? If he's spending the Enrique money on Santon then thats surely it, one in one out. I know Santon is right footed but theres no way he would pay a decent transfer fee then pay Simpson to sit on the bench.

If we sign Santon and Maiga I think most of the fans will have be very pleased at this point given the time and situation. Mind if it goes tits up and we don't sign anyone then there will be hell on. In a way the bastards upstairs have been very clever here, the way they've left it so late in the day they know we are desperate for signings and our expectations have fell since June so we will now be happy with just these two players signing with the window closing tomorrow. They would have got lynched if it was June and we signed Santon and Maiga then and nobody else (if we had still bought/sold the same players we have now). Getting away with it again.

One things for sure, we really need to get a player in before the Fulham match, because if we don't theres no way in hell we'll get more than one in. We may have half a chance if we go into the last 2 days concentrating on one player. I'd be chuffed to bits with a left back and striker given how badly things have gone on the transfer front. If we did get two in I bet both their wages combined will come up to Bartons weekly wage. I'd love to see the difference in wages now. Ashley must be fucking delighted.

So then with Barton as good as gone now we are looking ever more thing on the ground. I know this is very likely to end up as a very negative thead but which ones do you reckon we'll fill? I'm going for one which is left back. Definitely think we'll get one of them in. Not so confident of a striker though and certainly don't think we'll replace Barton. Past being angry about the Barton stuff though, people working themselves up about it now I do not get.

Don't get why people are shocked by this though. Apart fron the choice of clubs that is. They'll be able to give him a very good contract as well. He's been as good as gone for weeks now if there were any takers for him.

I'd certainly take one of them in addition to a purchase as well like.

I tell you what, I'd take him now. We've got to fill Enrique and Bartons spot in the next 4 weeks as well. I've got no faith in the board to get them 3 players in over the space of 4 weeks, so at least if we got one in at the start of the month it gives us half a chance. I'd actually take Van Aanholt and Bentley in a shot now given the situation and how useless the clowns are at our club.

Im trying to convince myself that we're gonna be able to get in a left back, right winger and striker in the next 4 weeks and I just can't. I would have certainly pulled the plug on any deal for Routledge with Barton now frozen out and no other options other than Ryan fucking Taylor. Unless we get lucky with loans then we're gonna have to spend decent money on these players as well (although we should be anyway). Thats why I worry, Ashley wont spend money yet surely theres no more decent free's about now anyway. Whats that now, £50m incoming from transfer fee's since January if Jose goes for £8m, and a fortune saved in ages when Barton goes. Jesus.

We spent all £35m of that on the agent fee's and signing on fee's for our free transfers.

So we've made more money than we've spent this summer after selling Carroll for £35m in January, we're struggling to get a striker in we're desperate for, we've agreed to sell our only other natural right winger, we've got hardly any transfer money to spend by the looks of it, and we've got a month to address all of this and we've released one of our best players.

I wonder how much debt is owed to Ashley now. He must want out in the next year or two, theres no reason for him to keep the club if hes not gonna invest to take us foward. He's not gonna make much profit either if we stand still or go backwards.

Unbelievable how low his confidence is at taking on the full back, when he's quite clearly likely to beat them more often than not with some pace.

Beckford is the sort of player you'd take over Lovenkrands as 4th choice striker, but we're meant to be looking for a partner for Demba Ba!
