  1. I don't get how they are saying they arent getting any response out of him. Surely they are capable of actually talking to him and he's hasnt been hiding away for the past 4 weeks, they should at least be capable of getting a "yes", "no", or "im keeping my options open" out of him, but Pardew has made out as if he's not getting a word from him.
  2. Ah howay man, he's a bigger crock than Woodgate. We don't want to be going down that route signing these type of players anymore. Especially for Hargraves he's hardly kicked a ball in 3 years and we could do better now. Woodgate would still offer us loads on the pitch but the fact he is never on it means theres just no point going there.
  3. Its the pace which would be key for me as well. Imagine the pace, power and athleticism of N'Zogbia, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Marveaux (lead to believe he's fast), Sturridge and Demba Ba.
  4. The thing is if the quoted prices were right then I think the £22m in total would be very well spent to bring them both here, they would complete our front 6 and make us a potentially outstanding attacking force. No way do I believe that price on Sturridge like. If the prices are true though then I would definitely question whether there is much over £20m to spend because if the full Carroll money was available then surely they would go out and pay that money then it'd leave them with some money left over to strengthen the squad a bit. If theres not over £20m left to spend though then it would be understandable that we aren't spending the rest of our money on 2 players.
  5. I think its clear the Journal don't really know exactly what is going on. They probably do know there is an interest in N'Zogbia and Sturridge, but thats probably all they do know. They have definitely got some names right this summer, but whether players signed or not, they havent got the details right really. They definitely seem to know something about targets/sales but I don't think they know what is going on in detail.
  6. howay man http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/518SJSM3RJL._SL500_AA300_.jpg HA ha, i had that game, it was serious GUFF. I used to love it cos Malcolm Allen was included in the Newcastle squad

  8. Even more interesting in that article is the bit that says we are reluctant to pay £10m for Daniel Sturridge but if Chelsea sign another striker we will be back in for him. £10m? I seriously doubt that, Chelsea would be mad. If that was true surely we would snap their hands off!
  9. Not a chance in hell, we wouldnt pay the transfer fee and certainly wouldnt pay for £80,000-£100,000 a week wages.

    Leon Best

Maybe Pardew has seen enough of him in training and matches and has came to the conclusion that overall he's not good enough but see's an opportunity to sell him for more than he is worth after the little good spell he had? His value will be higher than usual at the minute. Theres a good chance he will go back to the Leon Best we will sign and his value and confidence will plummet again. That Leon Best is not Premiership quality. Its not even an issue if we sign Ba and another couple of strikers. Especially if we're going 4-3-3 with 2 wingers more next season.

Pardew must have someone else in mind to replace him. Its a bit different selling Best than it is to Nolan, Barton etc. His hand isnt being forced here because of fee's, wages or contracts, he must have players he feels are better available to sign.

Shola must be on £30,000 after all them years here

Whoesale changes here, anything can happen. I wouldnt worry about the sale of Best.

Yet Ameobi and Lovenkrands are seemingly staying... So was Best until last night. Anything can happen.

Oh howay man everyone, he had a good spell last season but do we forget the rest of his Newcastle career? I would actually rather keep him than Lovenkrands but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over if we sign another 2 strikers. Its a bad move if we don't get more than one striker in. £4m would be good money though. He tries and he showed he can get a few goals but as far as I have seen he doesn't have the mentality or confidence to be a long term player here. His head goes down too often. Id be happy to keep him for some squad depth but people are overreacting here after seeing him knock in a few goals.
  16. Vuckic just signed a 5 year deal while Pardew was manager and he's mentioned him as a big player for the future. I know he's saying "surprising" but that just wouldnt make sense since he's on pennies and we wont get a big fee for him. Pretty certain it wont be him, wouldnt make sense one bit. I'd say Lua Lua possibly but its not a surprise since theres not huge expectation on him and he's stated he wants to join Brighton. Kadar is a decent shout. Forster? (again wouldnt be a huge surprise). Xisco? As in shock that someones took him? Doesn't mean that its a young player just because he mentioned Ranger though although it probably is.
  17. Aye, apparantly he chose Newcastle because we offered him £20,000 a week more
  18. Everton "ITK's" claiming hes getting £70,000 a week here. Obviously trying to justify him coming here instead of going there. There is no way Mike Ashley would break the wage structure for him. It certainly wouldnt make sense after letting Nolan and probably Barton go because of their contract situations.
  19. If we do sign another centre midfielder for decent money who we would probably have to guaruntee to be a first choice player then surely that would confirm that we're going for a 4-3-3 type of system next season. Our midfield and fowards could all be new players bar Tiote if you class Ben Arfa as a new player.
  20. Why would he accept that contract when he would have been on more than that at NUFC and West Ham can't gauruntee him they'll get promoted. If he signed a contract on half money in the Championship he could be on less than £30,000 a week for his whole contract. He'll be on the full whack.
  21. Well at the end of the day if he's on £55,000 a week for 5 years they're bigger mugs than I thought. So does anyone on here think we should have matched that? Is anyone still pissed off that we've sold him? I can't see how anyone can argue with his sale with the financial details that are being mentioned.
  22. How much were people expecting? He's 29 year old, won't sign a contract less than 5 years (apparantly) and he's a player who looks like he might start really struggling in a year or two, he already struggles against teams with a lot of energy who pass the ball around.
  23. West Ham must be offering him a very good contract. Love him for the part he's played in getting the club back where it belongs. Can understand the club not giving him a 5 year contract. But he did have 2 years left on his contract and I'm sure Pardew thinks to himself that there will be no place in the lineup for Nolan in 2 years if all goes well and he will be 31 then so it sort of makes financial sense. I am a bit wary that we are losing such a big influence around the place and our captain, but as far as money, value and the team progressing goes I can see why we're prepared to let him go.
  24. Theres no way he was offered £140,000 a week like, most managers don't get much input in players contracts, its funny how just for this one occassion KK gets to offer him a wage increase like that. I seem to remember at the time they were talking about a wage reduction on any new contract. If he was offered that money he would have signed it on the spot.
