Which ultimately is no big deal, despite the hysterics coming from NUFC.com and others. With the continuing impasse regarding the sale of the club, it probably offers Hughton the respect he deserves while not tying down any untried or long contract expensive manager who would take a further chunk of wedge away should a future owner not want them.

As someone old enough to have seen the "Westwood Out" demonstrations, seen a hate campaign against nowadays legend Joe Harvey, a vitriolic camapaign to oust Gordon McKeag, and supported the Magpie Group (Bobby Pattinson, Joe "Monaco" Robinson, et al) before being kicked out of my bonded seat by their successors, it could just be a case of "oh hear we go again". My thoughts are are :- Yes professional footballers should be mentally strong but surprise, surprise they are affected by off field activities. Why else support them? The atmosphere did "contribute" to the defeat by Hull. Had we not been beaten by Hull we wouldn't have been relegated. Ashley's tenure has been a disaster, we need to move on and so does he. As soon as a really "serious" bid is on the table he'll be on his way. Forget the publicity seekers and chancers, some of whom are no more qualified to own NUFC than you and I. Supporter's pressure groups never work, they just give potty penster John Gibson and a few others a chance to re-surface. They jump up and down and play on the fans for support but never achieve anything. Even if they did, they'd just kick the fans who supported them into touch and be corrupted by their new power. Then we'd have the loonies running the asylum. Keep on protesting, but not in SJP on matchdays. We've had a surprisingly good start under the circumstances but a lot of people out there want it to blow up in our faces. Don't help them. We want Ashley out. Ashley wants out. It's one hell of a slow process but we don't need to discourage any serious new investors before they arrive. Support the team because at the end of the day that's all that REALLY matters.

If Joey Barton had done that it would be headlines in the Mirror. (and NUFC.com)

Just read some of the earlier posts, did someone leave the key in the door of the loony bin or do they have online access inside nowadays It's bloody windy out there !

F*ck me ! Is there a match on tomorrow, I thought it was just going to be a Keegan vs Newcastle directors internet slanging match. 1-0 to Keegan. 3-1 to the Town. (not Toon)

Mixed feelings. It's not fair on the player to sign him against the wishes of the manager. The player is the one who deserves most sympathy. As far as the judging by Youtube - if it was a permanent signing you'd worry, but it's a loan. He's an international player who's already been signed by a top European club so although it's a risk, it's clearly not a huge one. The guy clearly isn't crap and is worth a look. Signing him in order to get a favour down the line from agents - dodgy, but it's not clear from the tribunal that this was the only reason. I'm of the feeling that Keegan wanted out and was spoiling for a fight. I don't think that this clears him of that accusation. As for the delineation of Keegan's responsibilities, it's not clear but overall if you're working to a DOF your position is clearly different to that of a manager who isn't. To agree to work to a DOF and then complain about interference - hmmm.... You clearly can't expect to get everything your own way. But can I quote the representative of the NUSC who reported on Lambias's meeting with the Supporter Panel in March. The subject of Keegan's resignation came up - ' This led onto a discussion about the role of Dennis Wise which, itself, led to one of the most interesting answers to a question we expected to be off topic: Who signed Xisco and Gonzales? Xisco was Kevin, dont believe everything you read in the press, Gonzales was a...well, I wont go into that because weve still got legal issues there stumbled Derek. Suffice to say jaws dropped on that one, not just for the remarkably candid nature of the revelation, but for the insinuation that we are supposed to now believe that Kevin Keegan walked out on Newcastle, not because he was unhappy with £6M being blown on an unwanted striker, (all his own work apparently) but that he was so fundamentally opposed to the club bringing in a player on a short term loan to help an injury hit squad that he walked out on a multi-million pound contract! Apologies that we didnt probe that one further, we were too busy dusting away the fairys from our eyes.' I'm sure that that incredulity was shared by many people at the time. It's the reason why I think Keegan's resignation was opportunistic. It is pretty amazing how many people 12 months ago were blaming Xisco for the whole fiasco and now seem to have changed their story with THE WISDOM OF HINDSIGHT.

Read the report man, don't go off the posts in this and the other thread. http://www.premierleague.com/staticFiles/c0/3f/0,,12306~147392,00.pdf Dave can I ask if you've read the report yet ? I have. I hope you realise that was a joke. Pretty poor one admittedly. -

Methinks most of it will be in the grubby hands of the legal fraternity by now. -
on nufc.com On the day that Ashley's shambolic ownership of the club has been clearly documented it was interesting to see the following piece on nufc.com in relation to the Pompey problems. They usually adopt a very anti-Ashley stand. Does this mean that he deserves at least some small credit from us ? P.S. I can't wait for Ashley to sell the club and for us all to move on - so lay off before you start you usual suspects. With further revelations in the press concerning the financial meltdown at Portsmouth, the fact that the Premier League have been aware of their plight for a considerable time has us twitching a little bit. As well as providing a "what if" scenario for what could have unfolded at SJP had Mike Ashley & his cash not come on board in 2007 (we've never got as far as defaulting on player wages) it's also a moot point as to whether the administrators should be in at Fratton Park.

Obviously hasn't researched that bit very well. most of ppl on chroniclelive, are not happy with him Most of the people on chroniclelive haven't read the judgement. Someone help this man, he seems to be suffering from delusions. He's in the wrong town, on the wrong forum, talking about the wrong club. -
I note with interest that you registered on 2007-07-04 Do you work for Ashley? No I don't. I notice that any post that is posted negatively against Keegan does not get respond to the point of the post, but just tries to discredit the poster. Ironically that is the sort of behavior we all despise Llambias for. How could he have been wrong to sue the club when the decision went in his favour and people like you were calling him worse than muck? He's cleared his name and got what he was due. I do not agree that anyone who claims to love Newcastle can sue the club for £25 million pounds when they know the have been relegated and are struggling for cash. I even disagree that he should sue nufc for 9 million. His contract gave him £2 million just for leaving he could have just taken that. I hear the argument that he wanted to truth to come out be if that was the case why sue for 25 million not 9 million? I'd sue the club for £25m if i could. If you want, you can go down the road of getting your lawyers to sue your ex-employers for as much money as possible. As others have said, maybe a lot of people would do the same given the chance. However, when you go down that road, you lose any claim to be acting out of some moral principle. The principle that you're acting on is - I'm out for whatever I can get. What garbage. So no-one can sue anybody and keep their principals? Sorry to be a pedantic tw@t, but wasn't he suing his principals as a matter of principle.

There's contrary opinion and there's comments that don't take account of the findings of an independent tribunal. It's almost as if these people haven't read it... You could have at least ended your reply by calling me a f*cking c*unt ! -

Got to say the Keegan fanatics on here really do support their man passionately but seem unable to discuss any contrary opinion without being very aggressive and offensive. Save your energy for supporting the team lads. He's gone, it's past, move on. -

think youre missing the point a bit. nacho deal was the specific grounds keegan's legal team used to fight the claim, and it's referred to as a 'last straw'. there's other stuff that has gone on, as the pdf mentions in passing, but they haven't been used to fight this particular legal battle. the pdf isnt a judgement on every single little thing that went on. Exactly. The pdf focuses on the one issue - signing Nacho - and KK has been proved absolutely right in this case I suppose now KK should also get the benefit of the doubt for all the other s*** that went on - the Milner sale, him and Wise etc. i would like keegan to write a book on this, could be a good read He may have to to make ends meet. I wonder what percentage of football managers would have just kept quiet and been complicit to such a deal ? Sadly in today's world, most I would think. -

Surprised at how piddling the settlement was. Most managers we've sacked walked away with a lot more than that. They'll probably insist on future managers signing pre-nuptial agreements. -
