Are there professional agitators in the media where NUFC is concerned?
Benwell Lad replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
Yes. But they were at it before Keegan, during Keegan and will continue long after Keegan. The level of abuse and mischief making from certain journalists (Bird the c@nt, wheez keys Louise etc) goes way beyond even gutter press reporting and has to be agenda driven. (Bitter macums perhaps or something more ?) Report on how bad we are by all means but do it properly. What Joe said was so true and long overdue. -
I think a lot on here would disagree with you, but just about every manager in the Premiership would agree with you.

That 'cockney mafia OUT' banner had another airing. I wish someone would set light to the f***ing embarrassing s****. One mans crusade to make himself into something he isn't. On behalf of the vast majority of Geordies I would ask them to stop embarrassing us with that stupid banner too.

Nonsense twice over f***ing goalkeepers honestly, i was one for 10 years and I really cant understand how they constantly evade criticism. It's his 6 yard box ffs That ball was never in a position for Given to deal with it. which is why our feet aren't glued to the pitch when we play football. Given should have come off his line a lot earlier to deal with it It was definitely Given's to deal with. He came initially and stopped. Let's face it Shay can stop shots but he's never been able to deal with crosses coming into the 6 yard box in the way that Lehmann or Van der Saar would. -
Even in the shambles of the the last few weeks you can still see the kid's quality. But there again thats no surprise - he does play for Argentina after all. When stability returns ( a definite improvement today in that respect ) and we have 2 full backs and a team with shape, Coloccoini will be a key player and we'll see the best of him. Keegan seemed to love him and spoke very enthusiastically about his playing and passing ability as well as his defensive qualities.

2nd half was best display since Manu on opening day. Spirit was best since KK went,100 times better than last 3 games and was very significant in getting a result. Can't understand why some thought Colo looked poor, I thought he was awesome 2nd half, Duff and Guthrie weighed in with good performances too, Duff's recent improvement has to be encouraging. Taylor's header was immense, he seems to offer more up front than in defence at present. -

Bird, Hickman and a few other parasites have been writing sub GCSE standard lazy hack stuff about us for years to make their sleazy living, they have systematically attacked every move NUFC have made. Basically they're c@nts and I'm glad Joe had the b@lls to tell them. -
Any chance of the Ultras etc giving a loud rendition of "Simon Bird is a c@nt" at the Man City match. Would be awsome.

You're missing his basic point, which that they're on his back writing s**** about him before he's even got going. I'm just saying I think it comes across as childish, personally. I'd much prefer him to sit there and fire the players up in a positive manner, rather than hurling abuse at a bunch of journalists. That's just my opinion. I don't think for a second that the players will think this is positive. The majority (especially senior players) will think he comes across as a bit of a joke. I wish someone had told them like it is a long time ago. They've been absolute c@nts for years to Newcastle. Instead of lying back and taking it, it's good to see Joe fighting back at them.
-
Great that at last someone stood up and told them what they really are. Should have happened ages ago.

Who is the parasite ? Sound local what's he about ?

Even better in audio. Well done Joe. Does anyone know who these parasites Bird and Hickmann are who make a living out of attacking our club. Sounded like local accents would be nice to know a bit about thyem. -

Totally disagree. Not the way to conduct normal business/press conferences but the way the sub-primes have been reporting on Newcastle for years now is anything but normal. He had every right to give them it back, and I admire his straightness and honesty, something those to whom it was directed do not have. He merely fought his corner rather than lie back and accept it. Good on yer Joe, theres a few more for you to sort out as well. Wish Keegan had done the same but it's not really his style. -
Shola has been a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma for years now. I used rate him but have now I've given up on him. Who knows ?

I tell yer man it's gonna be Arabs.

Hunter Davies. Class. It further iilustrates how pitifully low today's sports journalism has sunk (with a couple of exceptions) in comparison to scribes like Davies. No wonder they can't even give their papers away nowadays.

Fortunately the Journal has retained it's high standards of writing when even the old broadsheets have had to resort to tabloid type journalism. Very positive and honest from Joe. He's got bottle. -

Just seen an interview with Joe Kinnear on SSN where he's saying the sub prime press are at it again looking for ways to stick a knife in him now he's at Newcastle. The same vermin ridiculed everything Keegan did and now they're straight at his replacement. One thing is sure their obsessive hatred of Newcastle will never cease whoever the new owners and management team are. Got to say I haven't bought any papers (does anyone still have to buy a paper now that they are so desperate and have to give away free copies everywhere ?) so I haven't read it first hand, but there again wouldn't have to it can be taken for granted that certain low life journalists will continue their anti-Newcastle crusade whatever happens. -
But then how many scouts have brought s**** into this club. If we work on the theory of hes brought all the youth in hes done a decent job a lot better than some. Most hte stems from the man not the work. True. A Chelsea legend and despised on Tyneside. It was always going to be difficult for him. Net result however is he was doing a decent job in his scouting role but once the sh*t hit the fan he was an easy figure for the angry mob to vent their vitriol on.
-
In fairness Kinnear couldn't be doing any more right now. Positivity has been zero and he is doing the right thing in talking everything up and trying to get the players lifted. I reckon we've been beaten before we even went on the park since the Hull game. Good signs from Kinnear under extremely difficult circumstances.
-
I've been waiting for one of our managers to say that for years and then Joe Kinnear says it. f*** Keegan, Kinnear is god. Yes. Sometimes simplicity AND what 50,000 fans can see with their own eyes IS the correct answer. Good on yer Joe - it's a simple game - why complicate things ?

nufc.com making totally unnecessary negative remarks about what Kinnear has said today in an attempt to rally the team and supporters. What Kinnear said makes sense and is exactly what he should be saying, in these desperate times it would be best if everyone with Newcastle's interest at heart rallied around until a permanent change is made. Kinnear like everyone knows (including himself) is here to do a dirty and temporary job that no one else (including King Kev) wants right now. Perhaps the boys at NUFC should just support the club and stop using their medium for their own agendas once again. For the record here's what Kinnear said. Hardly offensive is it ? "A team like Newcastle United should not be in the position it is in today, But a couple of wins will change the situation, and it is up to me to bring out the best in them. "There's a fear factor and I have never had that in the dressing room before. In fact, in my time at Wimbledon, the place was always bubbling. "Now what the Newcastle United players need to do is to clear their minds and focus on the job. "When my career is over, I will be able to say I worked at Newcastle with the best supporters in the world. "As far as Habib Beye is concerned, he is joining the first team squad for training tomorrow and with the fact we have an extra day, I would say that his chances of coming back are 50-50. Confirming talk of a possible return for Stephen Carr: "We are looking at his position, but a lot will depend on his fitness. We are short at both right and left-back, and it is not fair asking young boys who are really central defenders to play there. "When that happens, they look what they are - central defenders playing as full-backs. "Stephen Carr is available and he is an experienced full-back, so we will just have to wait and see.'
