Have we been instructed to let opposition players run straight last us. Go awful picking players up today. -

Yohan out of 2nd leg when he gets booked? -
This absolutely. One of the best technical players we have, So neat and tidy. Just doesn't show he wants it enough though which is why I can partially understand his lack of starts this season. He is a bit of a luxury player and until he works as hard as gouffran or learns from Ben Arfa who was a similar liability defensively, he won't be a regular starter. Our side however is crying out for flair or just a creative spark to get players off their seat marveaux and Ben arfa are our only true flair players currently.

Jol is a step above pardew but not te manager to take us to where we want to be. He was shafted ala hughton at spurs for the same reason we want pardew gone, not a top 4 manager. Whether we are in the position to find someone of that calibre I don't know but if we do replace pardew we have to be careful we don't find ourselves in the same situation in two/three years time.

Would be genuinely interested to see how 1878 and Niel think the Pardew situation compares to moyes who had a similar bump second season. Difference if I can recall is moyes not being bailed out with support and money from the board.

I think that's harsh, too. It depends on the extent to which it is 'effective'. If it was 'effective' in the context of purely staying up, I'd agree with your post. But in last season's case, it was 'effective' in the context of a Champions League push. I don't see how simply being rigid and disciplined (in the first half of the season) 'sucked the life' out of our players. We were actually pretty fluid towards the end - and it wasn't simply because of the personnel. Fair play but I am talking about Pardews insistence of using that tactic week in week out regardless of opposition. I am happy to see us playing more effectively once in a while but not every game, especially when we have players capable or doing far more. Constant negativity shows pardew has little faith in the players we have to beat other teams using attacking football. I can't believe players can't be affected by defeatist tactics every week regardless of the opposition. Case in point gouffran and sissokho.. Unrecognizable from their first two performances.

Effective football is poor disguise of negative tactics that suck the life out of players, fans and the game in general. It's akin to people that don't want to ever leave their house because they might get hit by a bus.

I have never been a huge pardew supporter but I have to admit I am puzzled why his brand of football is so negative when reading, charlton and west ham all played pretty attacking free flowing football. I thought at some stage he might make the effort especially after the early usual manager crack about giving the fans the football they want to see. Seems ever since he blamed injuries in his first year for not yet gelling and why we had to play how we did. If anything now we have better players but play worse. Hughton gave the team passion and belief and we had started playing nice football. That brief time however is long gone.

Could be the difference between us and them going down. They are in a bigger freefall than us, marginally maybe. Time will tell If sacking him will save them or send them into greater turmoil. Likewise keeping pardew.

The problem is he isn't a charletan he actually believes the way we set up and play football is the way forward. He is stubborn as a mule too and won't change until the players show they can play effectively against his gameplan and we finally win big, then suddenly like finally playing marveaux and Ben Arfa he will have his hand forced and naturally assume credit. Giving time and waiting for the side to gel and adapt to his tactics seems to be cornerstone or the entire tenure of his reign. We are yet to look like we have a clue moving forward as a team consistently. That's not the players fault IMO, the coaching staff is failing them and us. We look the weaker more clueless team against 90% of our opposition bailed out by goals out of nothing or against the run of play. We have negative goals and we get negative performances. I wish we had coaching staff that could instill belief into players and at least had the confidence in then to let them play the football they are obviously capable of. As long as Pardew has the players support he will keep his job.
-
I guess we will see on Thursday if that's true. Personally I would be shocked I we are playing any better then.
-
Easy with the S word.. No need for that. Mere mention of it should be instant ban, let alone delusions of that nature of him being a better bet than anyone.
-
Wow you actually have faith that they would replace pardew. his management style is the same as their business model play uber safe and try and get the maximum out. He is going nowhere, infact I fully expect him to be out manager in September regardless or what league we are in.
-
Have to stick with him til summer. Can't change now, that would be a greater gamble than keeping him. Not a chance we could or likely would bring anyone in that could turn things around this season.
-
We are absolutely stuck with this joker. We can hope for sense to prevail and a managerial switch in the summer. But it is never going to happen. Provided we survive, next season will be another mixed bag of results at best. Without the distraction of Europe we might finish top half and pardew will get another year. That is being uber optimistic because the football we have apparently player is fad from premiership or supporter worthy. Some managers mature tactically with time.. The free flowing attractive football Pardews early sides played is a far cry from what we get lumped with. He might be a better and wiser man manager but tactically he has become delusional. We set up to fail everytime and the negative tactics rub off on our players. Every person on that pitch got into football from enjoying playing and watching football. 11 of the players on that pitch today obviously still get to do that everyday. The others have to go against all that is natural to them, in turn they get to look like the cowards their manager is coaching them to be.
-
I wish wish he would come out of this brainwashed idea that you can play economically, defend first then nick a goal or two somehow. We have the players to take teams on. But we lack so much confidence going forward now. Case in point the arrival or sissokho and gouffran. In the space of three games Pardews coaching had taken all the spark that they gave to us away. Both look pedestrian at best now. We will continue to be Completely clueless until he grows some balls an shows some belief in his players to et the job done. We will have to put up with him at least until next Christmas.
-
Never a surprise.. Our "modern brand" of football Is just the most negative brand of football dressed up to get results. I hate the fact we are stuck with a manager that's first choice is sit deep and defend. Man city were vulnerable today, we should have taken the game to them. We had no intention of doing anything but keep them from scoring. No brains, bi creativity, no passion just immediate fear when our players get on the pitch. Imagine where we could be with coaches that match Graham carr's scouting. The playing staff we have are far better than the drivel pardew makes them play. In general our performances were unnaceptable last year but we got some luck, now pardew thinks we can play negative and nick one or two in every game. We are set up to fail every game.
-
Referred to him as Left Full back in all reports I read. Nice interview with Steve Watson about Lee Clark.. Glad Fergie is with Newcastle coaching staff #2, they have some momentum now, with 7 games left will be interesting to see how far they can finish. Playoff's are pretty much out of the question but hopefully they can build team spirit for next year. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21975305#asset

Needs the break to maybe watch re-runs of his games in comparison to other players in his position. Then an electric shock everytime he thinks what he has done recently is acceptable. Wish him a speedy recovery but he has been more of a liability than an aid this season.. less yellows but at the cost of him being too cautious and a more advanced box to box position has completely ruined him imo. Would be happy with Anita back in there, although he needs a boost of confidence to get back to his best. Perch will be the replacement though and he will do no worse than Chieck.
-
PSG already ruled out selling him, no? Would love him here.
-
He is Fucking atrocious, needs to reassess how he plays football.. Hopefully while he is watching our next few fixtures from the bench.
-
We are fucking shit officiating regardless. We can blame lousy decisions but when you have a team of good players playing obscenely badly it's the coaching teams fault. These players head balls without think where the ball will go, hoof and pass to the opposition and over play things when glaringly obvious easy passes could be made. They don't even do the basics right and haven't for a long time. it's a fucking shambles. Any impetus and inventiveness the new players brought has been coached out to revert to safe tactic norm. We are atrocious and for no other reason than the way we are set up. We should have hammered Wigan today. I have No idea what we do on the training ground but it's obviously a far cry from what every other club does because we continue to make poor teams look dangerous and better teams like Barcelona. Knee jerk reaction over and out.

Fuck Hope he is ok.. Did not look good. Could hear that scream across the ground. Wishing a speedy recovery but fearing the worst.
