Dan Ashworth (no longer working for Manchester United)

It was in the press that he has to give a 12 month working notice if he wants to leave. -

I think that's what we did in the summer. We went with the opportunity of youth with Livramento and Hall, then jumped on Tonali and Barnes because the opportunity was there. While you couldn't predict what's happened we have definitely been gambling a bit on Howe keeping players over acheiving and worst case scenario like it's approaching now is short term pain for long term FFP gain. Still we have shown we won't panic and will hold course for the long term. I just think we are at a risky point where nearly half the squad have been out with the other half fatigued. We aren't gambling with top four now, we are gambling with top 8 and odds are the injury situation isn't going to turn around with the amount of gametime players have played and the intensity we play with. We need at least a couple more.

Completely agree. Just don't think they will bring one in until the summer with Murphy coming back and Barnes, who shouldn't really play there but has. Then they can shift either Murphy or Miggy along with Ritchie in the summer to make room. I think it would be foolish to shift Miggy in general but certainly this January. Murphy is only just coming back from injury so it's unlikely he will be sold. No one will buy Ritchie. I can't see us signing anyone and having another player sat outside the squad not playing. We are too careful with FFP. I would be shocked if we spend big this window other than one player and a loan or two. Would be a good time for a shot in the arm backing with spending though, not least given current harder/frustrating times. We have clearly gambled a bit on avoiding short term pain for long term FFP gain, so I think there is likely money there if the right deals are out there. We have loans to use too. Still think it's an either or when it comes to Striker or RW this window. Not sure which we need more. We have an easy-ish switch out for a DM and GK, then it gets more tricky. We could drop Dummett and Ritchie then bring in a ST and RW. I expect Manquillo will leave this window, maybe Krafth (think he will wait til summer, he looks fine as backup) People that can be bumped from the squad for the second half of the season: Tonali - gone Pope - gone? or not The likely lads Dummett Ritchie Manquillo Other options Targett Krafth Gillespie or Karius - Keep Pope drop Gillespie?

Took too long to post this and get the Chelsea sour taste out of my mouth. Yet again, some of his touches and play were incredible. I thought it was Bruno a couple of time. Simply no way someone his age should have some of the ability he has. It's incredible. We need to keep protecting him when we can.

No GK? If we could bring in 4 that would be amazing. I don't see it but fingers crossed. I think RW waits until the summer. A versatile forward in January is possible though that could play through the middle and cover out wide if needed.

Would be a timely appointment. -
Just to stoke the previous Jonathan David talk.. https://x.com/GlassCityFC/status/1737230190860972104?s=20 I think he is perfect Wilson replacement. Howe would do wonders for him imo.

Oh God. I thought we had Isak on the bench Still Burn in on and pray? I'd rather Hall than Ritchie too but it is what it is! -

Let's leave it at that. Unless he scores for us. Then he is Messi. -

Don't see that as much of a problem as the staff he has recruited all jumping ship. Eh? He has only worked at Brighton (3 years) before us for nearly 2. Before that I think the only job he has that wasn't multiple years was as an academy director for Peterborough in 2000, when he was snatched up by Cambridge. -
Glad to see we took our foot off the pedal and went for game management today.

Wasn't particularly sold on those quotes tbh. But you can spin quotes whichever way your paranoid brain wants to, which is what i have! I hope we don't lose him and I'd like to think he would prefer the challenge here and finishing the good work he has started. -
Anderson was looking very canny before his injury. Just crazy we have lads and local ones at that coming through a bit now. Couple of upgraded durable Andy Carroll's coming through would be nice next!

Newcastle United 3-0 Fulham (16/12/23) | Reaction: pg 33 | Goal-posts: OP
toontownman replied to Disco's topic in Football
Chances aren't the problem. What Cost us the most point last season and this was composure, not being clinical enough and a sprinkling of bad luck/good defending/goalkeeping. I wonder what our stats are for shots on target and off for outside the penalty area. Always going to have the mind skew to the negative but always seems the majority of shots go high and wide or gently into the keepers embrace! -
Little worried about his lack of pace? Maybe I'm out to lunch on that one. Everyone is also clearly knackered. Trippier is completely spent, Almiron seemed to track back less than a handful of times and then put a cloak of invisibility on which left Miley covering a ton and outpaced alot. Crazy how good he is at 17 still. Amazing.

"Blaggard" and "Cad" iirc..

All about that new manager derby bounce baby! Seems odd unless they have someone much better coming in.

Paranoid any time any player thread is bumped thinking there has been another injury!

The thought of the likes of Burn, Longstaff, Miley, Elliot and Murphy potentially lining up for this! Would be mega lining up with local lads and toon fans. Dummett and Gillespie can sit until the last 5. I am sure we will go pretty much full strength for this. -
The noise if that happens at SJP..
