  1. totally agree with this I kind of agree accpet we look absolutely woeful without Tiote. What happens if Cabaye gets injured and Titoe is at ACN/Suspended. We are piss weak in the middle imo. Guthrie and Gosling need time to find form and would be a complete push over in midfield and Abeid and Vukic shouldnt have the pressure.
  2. Get in. Striker and barton replacement needed now.
  3. Isn't that normally followed by the player being sold and quotes coming out about how he was pushed out for money?
  4. Saw him twice in pre-season looked excellent tbh, was best player on the pitch for the first game. Decent passing range, technique and control think he has all the tools to be very decent in the premiership. Would be more than happy to take him in addition to Maiga. Does seem as stupid as the Rossi deal though. I don't think he is experienced or developed enough to lead the line for us. Would be an upgrade on Lovenkrands and fight it out with the rest. Experience will surely be the only winner though and it will be a wasted loan.
  5. Can we change the title to add ...staying at Newcastle?
  6. This one isnt actually in danger of happening is it surely not.
  7. Adam Johnson? I thought we definatley signed him a couple of windows ago?
  8. Not holding my breath on this one. Don't like his agents quotes "at this time". Gives me the impression they are just using us as leverage to joining a different team. Italian press reports are encouraging though.
  9. Can't be signing this guy we have met Nolan Roux's release clause. OMG we are signing them both... or none
  10. So just how many players do we supposedly have "close" to signing? Bolek - on trial ahead of a one year deal Shitu - set to join? Santon - close (fee agreed) Cissokho - close Pieters - set to sign Roux - Bid accepted Maiga - not close but may happen Fingers crossed we can get Cissokho, Santon and a Striker. Wouldnt be as worried about replacing Barton although that would be nice. Blatantly going to end up with just Wayne Bridge on loan last minute.
  11. Not holding my breath on this one, although I will cross my fingers. Too many other supposedly accepted bids/deals with Cissokho/Pieters/Maiga/Roux. Love to think we might pick up Santon and Cissokho...but thats just being silly.
  12. Shame he didnt get on the pitch today. If the Scunthorpe game is anything to go by he would have added alot. His willingness to spread the ball and pick out passes would have helped us out. Have high hopes for him, although I am not sure where he will slot in. Maybe replacing Obertan, although he is improving and Jonas needs to start imo.
  13. This, he can certainly improve but he is getting better every game.
  14. was woeful in the first half highlights were deceiving Really? I thought he was easily our best player in the first half. Frustrating and clearly still lacking a bit of confidence but he was the only player interested in making anything happen. Was impressed with his tracking back, made some tasty tackles especially in the first half. We were absolutely horrible in the first half and not alot better in the second overall. Actually looked worse than the Scunthorpe game, which is probably about right given we produced a similar performance against greater opposition. Colo was tremendous again having to play two positions for most of the game (covering Raylor). Smart decision to double up on Duff. I shat myself everytime it was Raylor and Duff anyone one on one. Lovenkrands was utter bilge, Best was not much better but at least he put himself about a bit. We played so narrow and the pitch was so congested, we were falling over each other. Think Tiote was possibly the worst player on the pitch in the first half, needless freekicks, lunges, horrible control and passing. I think he forgot which way we were playing he passed back so much my head nearly exploded. He was also lucky not to get sent off let alone escape a yellow. Much better in the second half though. All in all the back four didnt do too bad and Krul was immense yet again. Cabaye definately looked better from 35mins on. He is a firecracker, can see both him and Tiote getting reds this season. Overall a really scary performance but at least we gritted it out. If we dont get a few decent players in before the window closes we could be in real s***. Hopefully the team starts gelling, but we certainly look like we have gone 6 years backwards to the Souness days. Jesus it's not that bad like, got a fair few talented players not fit/injured and hopefully a leftback and striker to come in. Sorry, I meant the performance today and against Scunthorpe. Look sapped of all confidence and completely lacking on ideas of how to attack. In comparison to last season when we looked slick coming forward if not slow, we still looked threatening. Certainly our potential and outlook and general state of club is better than under Sourpuss. Twas I. Still stick to my opinion he looks a shadow of the player Manure bought. He is growing in confidence definately but he was beating players for fun before. It will come with time and settling into the club.
  15. Ok, own up. Who said he was quick? Maybe the Fulham defence are like lightning but he made Ameobi look like the Roadrunner. Decent cameo, although it wouldnt have taken much to improve on Lovenkrands attempt at looking like a footballer. Hopefully he can shake the rust and get back up to speed, sooner rather than later.

    Nolan Roux

Supposing the unthinkable happend and we signed Roux I could see us heading back for Maiga in January or the summer, whenever we offload Best/Loven.

  19. Pardew needs a left back and a striker there's no question about that. But if we've performed badly then a lot of it has been down to his long ball tactics which don't fit the players we have brought into the club. So far results have been good so we can say the ends justify them means. The jury is still out for me on Pardew though, I'll be interested to see if he makes the required changes necessary once we've got a proper left back in. I've got my fingers crossed that our long ball stuff is caused by our fullbacks not being good enough to generate a vibrant wing and our strikers offering nothing to hold up, play off or link the midfield. Cabaye has also been playing too deep to penetrate (LOL) anything from the middle. Still early doors. It's after 10 games we should have a perfect tactical insight I think. I'll be generous and say it's because of our limited full backs Pardew is playing the long ball game as a tactic rather than he doesn't have a clue how to set up a passing team. If I was a manager for example, the first thing I'd do was tell my goalkeeper to throw the ball to the full backs to start a move rather than hoof it down the pitch to two big twats I'd selected specifically to play the long ball game. I don't know where this notion of pardew being a long merchant has come fom he built decent fluid attacking and passing teams at West Ham and Reading. Didn't he actually talk about that being a priority when he started with us? I lose track given every new manager talks up the attractive crowd pleasing football.
  20. Injured tonight? Thought he would start, clearly needs games and confidence.
  21. Bloody immense tonight. That save... still dont know how he got his hand to it. Mick has it spot on.

    Leon Best

Be happy to see either Best or Lovenkrands leave, obviously the latter going first. Bit of a harsh Knee-jerk with Best after today as he clearly looked sapped of confidence. That said Best is the only one likely to garner interest out of the two so probably why he would go first. Can`t see Lovenkrands going anywhere released on a free.

    Alan Pardew

Have to disagree with Pardews inability to get the team playing from the back. As already mentioned I think its a problem with LB especially right now. We were playing some neat stuff last year with Enrique bringing the ball out. Colo and Taylor will both bring the ball through too, although it is a scary moment when they do. Simpson was certainly much better with Barton infront of him too. Tonight especially we missed the connectiveness of Barton ahead of Simpson, Raylor being out of position and Marveaux being a completely different player to Jonas. We also hugely missed Tiote. I agree that it was disturbing we had to revert to hoofing but I think it was a panic option because we werent getting through any other way.
