  1. Would be a pointless signing for us. Ameobi, Lovenkrands and Best would probably be more reliable. However I wouldnt say he was shocking, looked really good in pre-season, easily the best Manure player in the two games I watched over in the states. Just inexperienced, not at all what we need.
  2. Why do people reckon we would start best? Blatantly going with shola and ba upfront IMO.
  3. Tsh. never been a problem in the past...
  4. Good experience, likely a make or break year for him, Calderwood should know all about him. Certainly wouldnt be getting a look in here despite our striker issues.
  5. Agreed. Thats like watching a film with a reused predictable narrative only for it to end horribly and nonsensically, leaving you feeling violated. Then the next day your friend asks you about it and you say its watchable. Will there ever be a day journalist are actually held accountable for the bile they write based on their lazy ignorance, own agendas or a need to stick the knife in? It doesnt help my own personal agenda is Redknapp hate...
  6. Apologies if already posted, but fuck off Redknapp... Certainly not worthy of giving the cretin a thread. http://www.skysports.com/opinion/story/0,25212,18932_7092796,00.html Redknapp reckons Barton saga sums up more troubled times for Toon Jamie Redknapp Posted 11th August 2011 view comments .Like most people, I've no idea what is going on at Newcastle. I thought at first they had done the sensible thing and, because they thought he was disruptive, had decided to let Joey Barton go. Then it seems it's not that straightforward. If he is a negative influence, then let him go and join someone else. He had a good year last year and he is a decent player but he needs to keep his head down and just play. Thumbs down: the Barton saga is the last thing Newcastle needed I really thought Joey had found a home there and he was settled, but it's not really his business who Newcastle sign or don't sign; he should just be worried about playing. The Barton thing pretty much sums up Newcastle for me. Just when it looked like it was all settling down and they were in a position to build on last season, they are back in turmoil and no better off than they were this time 12 months ago. If Newcastle get off to a poor start, it's not going to be nice for Alan Pardew. Losing Kevin Nolan has not helped because he was a big, big player for them, but I do think Demba Ba could be a real hit on Tyneside - if he can carry on the sort of form he showed for West Ham - and having Hatem Ben Arfa back from that broken leg will feel like a new signing. A good start is vital for any club in the Premier League, but if Newcastle get off to a poor one, it's not going to be nice for Alan Pardew. The gaffer: You have to feel a bit sorry for Alan Pardew. He did a great job last season, keeping them out of trouble, and must have been looking forward to building on that. But as soon as they come back for pre-season, Newcastle are making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Looking at it from the outside, he must spend as much time dealing with his owner and his decisions as he does working on the training ground - it's almost like he's stuck in the middle and can't really come out and say what he thinks. I do think Ba will turn out to be a smart buy, but I am sure he would've liked more of the Andy Carroll money to spend. Will flourish because: They've kept hold of Cheick Tiote... so far. I'm a little surprised he is still there because he was one of the bargains of the season last time, but while they've got him, he adds some protection for that back four and some bite in midfield. They have not strengthened in great numbers so will need to rely on their better players again. Will fail if: They keep shooting themselves in the foot off the field. I bet Newcastle fans just wish they could talk about football rather than people falling out with the club owners and what have you. It is a soap opera up there and this season, or this summer at least, it has been the same old story. They need settled players and they need unity at the club. The finish: If they finish fourth from bottom, it will be a good year for Newcastle. It's not looking good for them right now and that's without knowing what other problems are coming their way once the season has started. I think they might just escape relegation, only because there are worse teams out there than them.
  7. Its ok its all an elaborate ruse, he will pull out and sign for Newcastle at the last minute amidst rumours of a failed medical. Marveaux`s idea.
  8. Speaking personally here for a moment... Its not so much the hate for Enrique but the modern footballer which he happens to be one in that when all is said and done f*** the fans f*** the club show me the money show me the f***ing money. He's not at Liverpool for anything else other than the money. Playing for a slightly bigger club than Newcastle is a bonus (I say slightly because they are, although they are way f***ing more successful and always will be if we cannot keep hold of our better players/they can afford to buy them from us) as is international recognition and playing in yurupa. With players its always money first everything else second which is the polar opposite of fans. All I care about is NUFC... Enrique can break a leg now for all I care. To paraphrase OzzieMandias he's history now. Next! Be interesting to know (although we never will) how much our bumper contract offer was in comparison to what Liverpool are offering. Maybe naive but I laugh at the aqusations that he is just going there for the money. He is and has been frustrated here for more than six months.
  9. We know who we want and all is set once we offload some players and free up the wage bill. All we have to do then is contact the clubs and players to see if they are interested in selling/coming... shouldn`t be a problem...
  10. Surely Hughton will pick him up? Cameron Jerome is coming in the opposite direction.
  11. Isn`t his contract up at the end of the year anyway? Happy to see him replaced but that seems unlikely. At least Xisco is finally off the books.
  12. The only place guarenteed good players will never leave or come in.

    Erik Pieters

Hardly sounds like we have one on the way then, does it? Which should have been f***ing imperative before José was allowed to leave. Absolutely f***ing shambolic if we don't have somebody in for Saturday, yet none of us would be surprised. This. Dont expect a LB or Striker in until closer to window close, if at all.
  14. Damn right we cant sign another striker until one leaves.. you know the policy.

    Alan Pardew

It is hardly what we want to hear, albeit the the truth. This regime has constantly aimed to throw a wet blanket on lofty hopes and delusions of grandeur amongst the fans. Like alot of things this regime have done, it is with the best intentions but miscommunication exacerbates the paranoia they themselves have created.

    Tamas Kadar

Where in the blue hell is he? I didn't think he was injured, surely should have figured in pre-season.
  17. Could see him heading to Russia. Important couple of days talking to the board, I hope they can work something through. If he left and we got Barnetta I would be happy enough but we don't have the time or luxury of bedding yet another player in. Think he will be on the bench for Saturday and sold by mid next week.
  18. Derdiyok yes please! Immensely unlikely though. Don't think he would be much better than Bendtner and might cos around the same...but he doesn't play in the premier league so he must be proper mint.

    Erik Pieters

Annoying, need him in asap if Enrique is off. Would prefer Enrique to stay until after the Mackems game tbh. Not sure its going to be in the lads best interest to be thrown in against Arsenal then the Mackems, one mistake and fans will rip a hole in his ass the size of the internet. Not ideal.
  20. I would assume so. Hope he's good as he's got massive boots to fill. Jose is the best full back I've seen in over 20 years of following NUFC. harsh on beresford. Tough but I think he is better than Beresford, might not have the screaming shot but is better defensively imo.
  21. Went to a club with ambition, can't blame him. Massive shame and massive loss. Bye Jose. Great full back. Agree. Really we have as much potential to push on as Liverpool. However they have owners, staff and fans that demand champions league and are spending the kind of money needed to get there. We are more concerned with surviving in the premier league and becoming self sufficient spending the minimum needed, as fans a decent proportion are beaten down and willing to accept the mid table is acceptable. The gamble with Liverpool is failure to qualify for the champions league and in all reality they will. I think regardless if they end up in the shit they are so "cherished" in the footballing world someone will come in and save them. Summed up I can see why Jose is going, I don't like it or his decision but I can see his thinking. We lack the immediate ambition he wants and Liverpool look like an up and coming prospect, Its the clubs fault he isn't convinced of ours. I think he could do better though. The price better be good.
  22. Blatantly an attempt to placate Sammy so he doesnt agree to join Real Madrid in a 80m move in January.
  23. Only likely to be London games called off unless mass rioting starts around the toon.
