There definatley something weird about this all. At the time there was rumours that they were only being signed by West Ham to settle in England and then be shipped off to Chelsea or Man Utd if I remember correctly. The other big problem for Wet Ham was that it was the Iranian businessman who bought them but Magnusson nipped in ahead of him to buy the club. They are both talented players, no doubt, and I don't understand Curbishley saying Tevez isn't playing because he hasn't scored, as he won't score if he doesn't play. Mascherano also looks a very good player from what I;ve seen of him before he went to West Ham, and I was in shock the other day when I read Curbishley wants to replace him with Nigel Quashie. I see Juventus have also pulled out of signing him. But even when it happened no one really believed (not even West Ham fans) that they would spend any more than a maximum of a season there. It should be interesting to see how it pans out, as I imagine once they've been sold on we'll find out about the initial deal that took the to West Ham.

do you agree The crazy guy is right you know, the reason we'll never win anything is because our fans don't know enough about football. YOU SIR, ARE A GENIUS I agree, and there was me thinking it was more down to having rubbish players.

http://www.sporting-heroes.net/files_football/GIVEN_Shay_19960121_SF_L.jpg I can't believe you lot made him wear that kit. I don't know what you mean. It's a marvelous kit, one of my favourite keeper kits from Sunderland.

I chose Given and Sorensen, basically because they have both played for Sunderland and are very good keepers, although Tommy has slipped up a bit usually in big games since he left us. And Cech as he is a fantastic keeper imo. Although I feel England at this moment in time this moment has the best selection of keepers in the top league than it has had for a while, such a shame so few are English. With the likes of James, Jaaskelainen, Cudicini, Isaksson, Van Der Sar, Niemi, and Freidel all playing in the prem as well. With the likes of Foster, Kirkland, and Carson and I get the impresson from here that Krul looks very good as well coming through very well, which can only be good for England in the future, considering keepers generally peak late in their career.

You love us really.

From the evidence I've seen, he'll fart about in MU reserves, get the odd ten minutes and be peddled withing three years. The next David Bellion tbh. Legend, never thought I'd see the day Sunderland managed to screw Man Utd out of £3M for a shit player, whose only asset was he had pace. Although he did score the winner in one of our 4 wins in our 19 points season, so fair play to the lad. On Rossi, I was impressed with him when we played Man Utd at the SoL last season and he scored (deflected effort though). Though he looked a tricky little player with an intelligent football mind, and that was just from about 15 minutes. Man Utd seem to think he's one for the future as well, but at 19 Man Utd forked £30M (?) for Wayne Rooney! I thought the lad would have been given more time during his loan spell as Ameobi has been injured virtually all season hasn't he? as has Owen. And with only Sibierski and Martins ahead of him I would have though rotation would have been a good option to keep them all fit. But Glenn knows best. Totally off topic - but that sentence has cheered me up no end. F***ing magic. Here to help :winking: Any more memories you care to share with us concerning your 15 point season? Well over an aggregate score from both first halves against Newcastle, Sunderland won 3-2 I have to have something to amuse myself with. We beat Middlesbrough 2-0, and while getting relegated held Man Utd to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford (similar to the 0-0 against Liverpool in the 19 point season where Liverpool had around 27 shots compared to our one (a long punt forward from Macho that reached the keeper!)) We beat Fulham in our final home game of the season. Our only home win of the season apart from the 1-0 aet and 3-0 demolitions of Cheltenham and Northwich Victoria respectively. Although we did go out of the FA Cup to League 1 Brentford 2-1 away from home in the 4th Rd. We went out of the league cup 3-0 to Arsenal infront of a sell out crowd due to cheap tickets. We were unbeaten against WBA in our two meetings over the season, 1-1 and 1-0. A class season tbh. Oh and Danny Collins scored more goals than Michael Owen in the second half of last season (1 away to Aston Villa).

You want the Luton Town goalkeeper? You can have Chris Brown, if you need a shit striker?

Only made it thanks to his loan spell here :winking:. Was possibly the best young keeper I've seen. Was confident in all of his abilities even at the age of 19. If I recall correctly there was only one occasion where he let in more than two goals in a game here. Away to Watford, always looked like he could be one of the best in England. Shame we couldn't afford him at the time. Newcastle got themselves a great bargain getting him, and he's payed them back on many an occasion.

He deserves to be sacked. Hull are woeful. How we only put 1 past them I don't know. They offer very little in the way of opposition apart from flinging defenders desperately in front of the ball when ever the opposition are around the box. And tbh conceding 9 in a week is pretty bad. Considering 5 were scored by Colchester, who aren't that bad, but aren't exactly that good either. Although Southampton look very good, but you shouldn't concede 4 at home. (and yes I know we've done it, don't remind me).

Crap tbh the shirt. :winking: I agree, I mean green. Haway, blue is the traditional Sunderland away kit colour, since we changed from that to Red & White for our home strip.
-
"Wallwork hurt after bar stabbing" What a shite headline. I reckon he'll be a bit more than hurt ffs, he's just been stabbed 7 times.
-
Well, I'm offended

Davis James has always had the ability to be one of the best keepers in Europe. However his inconsistency has been his major downfall. If he could have sorted that out a while back he would have been fantastic and still been at Liverpool or moved on to a top European side.

Cheers for the info, more than I knew about him. Big rumour up here is that there is going to be a swap deal in January with Alnwick going to Spurs. Hes an ok keeper, but I'd be surprised if Spurs wanted him, as he's very inconsistent and isn't the best a decision making. I'm only befriending them, so I can break them up from within

kingdawson, before you leave after taking a battering on this thread, whats Marton Fulop like? Decent height for a keeper (6"6), but that's all I know about him.

Lee Stewart is back again lads.

Sunderland fans can go along to training and watch any day they want, apart from the day before a match. I went to Hull a couple of weeks back and bought a programme, in it it said that fans could go along to watch training as long as they wrote to the club telling them the date and time, and then they got sent out a card which they had to show when they got to the training ground, to be allowed in. Seemed a bit much to me.

I'm ****ing not. They've been utterly shit. Almost as bad as us. I think you could even say: worse. Considering they are below you. Unfortunately for Dowie he had to sacked, the premiership season is already a third of the way through and Charlton have been poor and are bottom, a win against a Man City team who are abysmal away from home, and Chesterfield on penalties in the CC hardly equates to turning it round. Charlton were going down with him, now they may stand half a chance of staying up.
