  1. Freddy Adu is overrated. Me thinks the Nike (Freddy's personal sponsor) ManUSA connection is in full effect here. There are one or two MLS players that would be a good addition to the Premeirship ... Adu is not one of them.

    The keep poll

We don't get to keep Krul? Probably not though... bluecry.gif
  4. I will remember that you were the first to say it and were right all along.
  5. I am skeptical. According to a few sources Shepherd merely vetoed or outright objected to Roeder's targets and went out and did the Duff and Martins deals. If true however you could blame Roeder for not walking away when Fat Fred did this.
  6. Both Carr and Moore were knackered and slow as f*ck... a replacement of either by the energetic Ramage would have brought much much more to our game... too little too late in my book. Carr should never start again and Moore needs at least a week between games. If Roeder thought of this brilliant idea that late in the game he is an idiot. He needs to show that he has learned by bringing Taylor and Ramamge back.
  7. You what? It's the ****ing England fans that think he's shit. I don't think he's a world beater, but **** me, he's light years ahead of Glenn. His club CV isn't on the level of some of the better managers out there, but it's a good CV nonetheless. He may well focus on a core of players, but lots of managers do, and with England it was just more highlighted as a loss in international football ultimately results in you not having another game to get things right. I genuinely can't believe anyone would think Sven would produce much of the same as Roeder. Like, seriously. Well there you are. I think he would be a horrible match with NUFC and although he might bring some temporary respite that new managers bring (just like Glenn) - I think he would ultimately be just as disasterous. Dead serious here.
  8. Take off your England specs for a moment. Sven is NOT a good manager. I would be surprised if more than two posters on this board (that do not also support England) thinks he is good. Ask any nuetral and they will tell you that he is as overrated as they come. Also Sevn's weaknesses are similar to Roeder's and to a lesser extent SBRs. He makes up his mind about a few core players and no matter how poorly they perform he sticks with them (Roeder with Carr, SBR with Dyer and Bramble). Beckham is a good player... he is not Captain material and should have never ever been given the arm band. Sven also will not change his mind about a player that he has written off which at a club level can be even more devistating. And how about those formations and subs? Look familiar? They should - just as clueless and desperate. It would be more of the same. No thanks.
  9. Lots to think about here. I'll start at the back... Moore was excellent against Palermo, he is also very old by premiership standards. I am 35 and I know that if I play a hard game I feel it badly for about 72 hours. I can only imagine the case with Moore being similar... I think its obvious he was knackered from the start of the game the way his body was dragging and he had to resort to cheating to keep players like Hulse even marginally tied up. Moore is a good player - but should probably only be allowed to play sparingly and certainly not as often as he has. Bramble tries and is simply crap. He has no ability to concentrate and unless he has a high energy partner (which Moore was defo not today) he loses direction and panics. We played Carr ... this is a problem. In every game he plays he causes problems for us. He just doesn't get back fast enough and whoever plays on the right slowly but surely gets pinned back or has to work twice as hard to accomplish anything because they are forced to play the role of babysitter to some extent. His negative impact is so great that he is actually to blame for many of our points being dropped. He keeps Nobby from being creative, Milner from being an attacking force and Duff from being able to cross when they play on the right... this is not an exagerration. How Roeder doesn't see any of this is quite simply astonishing to me. The midfield is actually not that bad (when tehy keep the ball on teh ground) but they are burdened with a poor defence and no understadning with whomever is playing up front - they are ruined most of all by a lack of consistancy. Roeder does not know our best midfield line-up and neither do teh players. We have the most lattitude with these players so he tinkers here a bit too much when he needs to make some bold deicsions (especially at the back) and stick with them (in training anyway).
  10. Best of luck to TC! Anyone other than the old firm is fine with me.
  11. Don't forget to add Dyer to the perma-crock list.
  12. Go talk to Phil K and then get back to me on that one...
  13. This seems to be another thread to find out who was right and who was wrong.. unfortunately IIRC most posters were ambivilent and wanted MON or Hitzfield with most settling on Roeder after it was clear the Fat one was not going to do his job. This is not the same as the Souness appointment as far as how it divided the fans and I can't help but think that many anti-Roeder folks on here are using this opportunity to clear their name after foolishly backing Souness.
  14. Picking out an individual player who has not been any worse than our better players is silly at this point... considering how poorly the whole team is and that we are dropping down the table rapidly. Without Solano we would NOT have won our last UEFA Cup match... but nevermind. Oh and by the way, for those of you that are new: Crumpy has an axe to grind with Solano so this is just opportunism on his part.

    Town full of....

I only noticed this thread had somehow grown to 6 pages... about Boro?!?! Why... Stop paying attention to these lads you're only feeding their flagging egos and giving them this false idea that they are somehow relevant. They are not our rivals nor will their team ever matter... ever. I am going back to watching the Bill now...
  16. Tinkerman for me - though I wouldn't be gutted if we gots Curbs. Sven would be a terrible choice.

    Next seven games

blueyes.gif We could lose every game this season but we'd still at least get a point at the Riverside.
  18. Mick has indirectly gotten to teh crux of the dispute here. Its just like the reign of Souness when we were divided - there were the ones who supported him because they thought we could do worse and those were those who did not because they believed that any change would be for the better.
  19. I think its near unanimous that the way Freddie has conducted himself has been amateur. The "business" side of football has been changing continuously and we have not been keeping up with the times. The argument that we could have worse gets weaker every year because I think most supporters have been seeing a phasing out of poor managers by either buy-out or relegation and have been for the most part replaced with professionals. Five years ago there were less criticisms of Freddie not just because the team was doing better than expected but because we were one of many clubs that had a poor chairman at the helm. This is no longer the case. We now have the WORST chairman in the Premiership. Ellis was worse Bates was worse Ridsdale was worse You could also argue Gold was worse. Well none of them are in the Premiership anymore and that makes us the undisputed leader of "the Worst Chairman and Board table." The days of El Tel buying Pompey for a quid are over - the world is different, the internet, Sky, economic growth and other factors have all completely changed the world of football and the Board has not kept up.
  20. My Spidersenses tells me this will be a 47 page thread by December with one banning.
  21. So - do you have a dick or are you a fanny Spot the irony.

    Stan Collymore

He wants to come back because he thinks he's better than everyone else. bluesigh.gif That is just sad. I would have more belief in his ability to change if he said he wanted to come back because he loves the game and missed it... but no its all about the ego. He will get straightened out soon enough and if he decides he wants to play just for the sake of it he could probably find his place somewhere in the lower leagues - not gonna happen though.
  23. Excellent (but sad) response. My feelings exactly. Without bigger changes at the top Roeder is about how well we would expect to do.
  24. That's pretty much what .COM said and I agree for the most part.
