    I WANT IT ALL

I look forward to a response from the Halls. FFS has had his fare share telling his side of the story. I hope the Halls and maybe even the prospective buyers give us a better idea of what is going on.

    Beckham

Not so bizarre really. And completely understandible when you consider what his wife (and maybe what he) wants in life. Should be slightly less media scutiny now as well since he will be in an environment with many other very famous stars. I have mixed feelings personally. Getting tickets to the LA Galaxy will now be a challenge and I only ever admitted publicly that David Beckham was any good after he moved to Madrid (privately I did, but most footie "fans" I meet here are tossers and support one of the red shirted scum) - now going to Galaxy games and supporting him publically would be awkward... if he signed for NUFC I would have no problem supporting him but my feelings toward the Galaxy are a bit more reserved. Add to the fact that now half the people showing up to Galaxy games will be wearing ManUre replicas I will be extremely irritated... I may even support the away team if it gets out of hand.
  4. Excellent posts from Bellers and Legacy. And I whole heartedly agree with Bellers on the ManUre fans... f*cking tossers. I would love it if they never ever won anything ever again. Their problem with Chelsea is simply that they see the trophies as theirs and get irritated that someone has crashed the party so to speak. They don;t have nearly the same bother with Arse or Pool because they see them as part of the "club" its arrogant elitism. On Chelsea slipping up... I think the main issue is the loss of Gallas and Terry. Mourinho has less confidence in his defenders ability (without those two) and that lack of conifdence has bled into the team. Mourinho has said repeatedly that he doesn't believe in creativity in defence - he believes in drills and repetition. Defensively he sticks to a very regimented and disciplined almost Rehhegelian tactic - when the team concedes a goal they lose confidence in their creative abilities and get stuck in very predictable defensive possession. During our cup game against them, they were never going to score from open play. Our team somehow unnerved them and they decided to play for a draw/shootout or hope for a set piece winner (which they got). Chelsea are even more boring this year than when they first started under Mourniho two years ago. He makes George Graham look like Kevin Keegan. I think that when the defence concedes (as they have done more this year than previous years) Mourinho makes them train more and more conservatively - he's a perfectionist after all. This lack of attacking flair has all but killed Shevchenko and there is no way he is goign to prosper in Chelsea this year. It makes perfect sense that Drogba is the first choice striker at the moment. It would kill me to watch my team if they played as conservatively as they do with Ballack, Makelele, Robben and Shevchenko - these are creative and exciting players and somehow Mourinho has made them uninteresting and almost unwatchable.

    poor jose!

They lost team spirit when they got thrown out of the CL last year. That's his problem... complaining about depth when he has players like Ballack on the bench shows a complete lack of self-reflection... which will be his downfall. I would gladly take Shev off their hands - he'd probably work well with Martins.
  14. We'll lose 2-1 from two set pieces. One a header from Speed.

  16. Chelsea without question. I can't understand why any NUFC supporter would ever want ManUre to ever win anything ever again. You complain about Chelsea bandwagon jumpers.... my god that describes 99% of ManUre's supporters. Can't stand the arrogant bassads. Methinks those of you who would prefer ManUre are either bairns or have very short term memories.
  17. Interesting Post from Shaman and some interesting responses. I think we owe Villa a similar debt for Nobby. He came back wanting to play for NUFC - just like Butt did. We are the last chance saloon for most footballers - you don't leave here and then become great unless your name is Jon Dahl Tomasson. HTL pointed out very early last year that Erme & Parker siply doesn't work - the reasons for the are unclear, it could be that Parker can't adjust to the box-to-box duties, or it could be that the length of time both Emre and Parker need on the ball to make a decision bleeds creativity out of our counters... whatever the cause *something* doesn't work. When one of them is gone we seem to play better. As far as Butt is concerned I think he has a better understanding of his own limitatuions and is the finished product. Whereas Parker is still trying to develop his game. Butt also has motivation in his side. I think Dyer came to a similar conclusion about 18 montsh ago that NUFC is *it* for him. To his advantage Acuna knew NUFC was his chance when he came here. He was going to kill himself out there to make a point. He was the only player we ever took from a trial (during SBR's tenure) and he impressed SBR with his graft and committment. Before his arrival, Acuna had been banned for a year for testing positive for drugs (amphetamines IIRC), he'd been dropped by everyone (including Chile) and was staring down at the abyss - motivation was there. He either turned it around or was finished as a footballer. My biggest concerns for Butt is that he will lose confidence after a couple of mistakes and that he'll start hiding during games. Lord Ferg sold him for a reason. When Butt came here he really didn't want to play for us - I think he is weak (psychologically speaking). I can't post instances that I have heard about from friends and family (because of liability issues), but I hope Butt has put his problems behind him and proves me wrong.
  18. Well I have had a day to dwell on this game after viewing it and then rewatch the highlights and I don't think we played that badly. Chelsea have definately lost somehting... that "spark" or motivation thing seems to be gone. With all of that talent Mourinho has at his disposal he is still totally commmited to playing it safe. Many times throughout the game I felt that Chelsea were going to bore us to death. Without a dubious free kick or penalty they were never going to score against us and it would seem that is the way Jose wants them to play. Think back to when he first took Chelsea over three years ago: They went on a large run of 1-0 wins and Jose's defence was that he needed to play conservatively to get a better feel for the ENglish game. Well two titles later and he still manages his team in a way that makes George Graham look like Kevin Keegan on speed. This perfectionist soul-destroying style of play is definately creeping into his players and snuffing out both creativity and honour. Schevchanko is seen as a failure this season and now I am convinced it is because of CHelsea and not his play that he is doing poorly. Schevchanko needs attacking midfielders, he needs a more direct and perhaps more reckless build-up and CHelsea is never goign to give it to him. What about Robben? Has he always been such and absolute c*cksucker? I don't think he has... call it rose tinted nostalgia, but I remember Robben being a bit more resilliant and more interested in *actually* playing football. Everytime Solano came near him he fell over like a pack of cards and looked to the ref as if he was gang raped. ... and by Solano FFS. Nobby is what?... 5'5"... less than ten stone... hardly the David Batty/Vinnie Jones type is he? Nobby was never going to beat him on pace/speed so he tried to be in the right place at the right time to get in his way - which he did (well) and is totally legit. His antics only hurt the game and the fact that it was against Nobby only makes him look like an effeminate prick. I don't think, Roeder got as much wrong on here as people are portraying. He seems to have "favourite" players that he sticks by despite performances. All managers have this problem and certainly KK and SBR had it. KK especially with Bez (who was not as good as Elliot at the time... but I digress) and certainly SBR with Dyer. So now Roeder seems to have this with Parker and (even worse) with Carr (thank god for the injury IMO). We can argue over who should have been subbed and when, but our bench is very shallow and the impact of switching Sibi out for any of our starting XI would be minimal in almost any scenario. With what we do have Roeder has been able to come close to recreating the spirit and results of the end of last season (since November anyway). We are still playing better now than we have been and if we never play Babayaro and Carr again I believe we will steadily creep up the table.
  19. Crumpster: Who among our starting XI should wear the armband besides Given?
  20. Acuna was much better going forward too. maybe we should resign him as a backup player, he's only 31. Sarcasm? Surely Acuna is past his best. Isn't he playing in Argentina right now? I think he also had a year off recently due to a severe injury.
  21. Fuck off did we. Another case of a London paper siding with a London team. bluedead.gif The media coverage of this game was atrocious. Just before the match started the commentators were going on about how Arsenal were going to go top of the table after the game and had a discussion about how they were going to be able to stay there above Liverpool and ManUre... f*ckers. We only had a player advantage for something like 15 minutes and we were level when Robert got the third goal... but from the media you would think the ref handed us the game and sent off half of Arse's players. This game prompted SBR to say that Arse (and Arsene) needed to learn how to lose gracefully because they acted like spoiled bairns after the match. I think Arsene refused to shake SBR's hand or sommat (?).
  22. We went to the top of the table after beating the Arse at Highbury 3-1. One of SBR's greatest results breaking a four year dry spell for us in London. Coming from a goal down (and a seemingly endless barrage of Kanu misses) we beat the arrogant red cockney scum. Shearer scored from a pen after Parlour got sent off. Bellamy later got sent off. O'Brien scored (disbelievingly) from a corner and Robert got the last with a one-on-one with the keeper during a counter. Good times... may they return soon.
  23. OMG "Referee is wrong" shocker! :winking:
