F*ck me that was exhausting... I had to bike to three different bars before I found one with our game and wasn't packed with plastic red manc scum or gooners. Nicky Butt MOM? - no chance. He played well but his lack of confidence in his team mates actually unsettles the team. He goes back and forth between anonymity and wanting to do it all. When we were under the cosh he was continuously running into our defenders, consistantly getting in the way of our other players who may have had teh situation under control. When we are playing well (as a team) Butt is less intrusive - I would like to see more vocal leadership rather than the Given Sheaerer mould of dark looks and muttering.... that said he does play better with Emre (apparently) than Parker. Our CBs were falling apart and Babayaro was having a nightmare. Solano again giving instruction to the back four and the only one with an ounce of composure after we went 2-1 down. If Carr played today we would have lost 4-0. Solano does the job and despite what people have said has done decent in the air and can tackle - also gets cynical when needed. The deflection was not his fault - Nobby is my MOM. Emre was overall very good and can not be faulted for the stagnation that ocurred in midfield when we were aimless in the latter stages of the 1st half. Zoggy and Milner are confidence players, Butt gets in teh way and Emre is forced to pick up the massive amount of slack left over. More of this please. Martins can not keep posession and does nto seem to be able to pick out Milner or Zoggy when they are free... dunno why? He needs to be better in the posession game and learn a few tricks from Sibierski who in my opinion was excellent today. Overall this was a confidence game. Reading are used to winning games and you could tell they way they played that they fully expected three points when the game started - when they had teh lionshare of posession but we were composed and hit them with Sibbers goal they fell apart. When they hit us back - we fell apart. This game was all about belief.

I still remember the LC losses at St. Andrews. I predict we'll lose 2-1, there will be dodgy decisions going against us and we'll have our keeper sent off. In other optimistic news I say Chopra with a hattrick against the Spurs...

In the past many North American Toon fans have posted times and channels. Who knows if that is still allowed?

 Again with Owen as pacey lad comment. Dave is right: Owen is not a pacey striker. Despite his small size he is not quick; its his positioning and finishing that makes him remarkable - he is the new Gary Lineker. Martins would be a good compliment because HE is pacey - also despite his small size Martins is not half bad in the air - he can jump and he can win headers. Luque-Owen would be the worst possible combination we could make up because neither of them create moevemnt up front, but instead respond to others around them. If both of them played we might as well put two staues up front - both would be waiting for the other to do something. Pointless anyway - I doubt Owen will play for us again. He'll get fiit just in time for the Summer and someone will come in with an offer and he'll be off.

before 1991 the US had never had a president who got them into Arab lands. Since then they have been there more often than any other country. Which other country had given its troops the opportunity to compete abroad the way them Bush's have ? Where were you when those other presidents presided over the embarrassments of previous decades. Were you there ? Did you live through incompetent presidents. I did, I know how it was, you have no idea unless you were there. Well listen to me, this president is far better than any that have gone before. The Bush's have always backed their troops. Okay the last appointment of Rumsfeld didn't work out, but who at the time argues against it ? Did you. Don't remember you saying anything ? So Bush is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. You might want a new president but how do you know the next one would be any better ? How do you know that a new guy, or even woman, would be able to do any better than Bush ? I would rather stick with Bush who clearly knows how to back his troops into body bags than gamble on some unknown. That is a work of genius MacBeth! http://static.flickr.com/110/289959679_f579908b2e.jpg?v=0

The Teddy Shearingham applause irritated me. If I am there when Cole has his farewell there'll be silence from me. No forgiveness, but no booing either.

I'll have a good cry in the corner then... bluesigh.gif

I am pleased with the Fulham result and it has nothing to do with fantasy football and everything to do with Arsenal wearing red, winning things, having wankers for supporters etc... Oh and I like the former Everton front pairing of Radz and McBride - both North American.

This thread perfectly illustrates the greatest problem with Fantasy Football. I have read cheers and congratulatory remarks for Liverpool and ManUre... and everyone knows that makes the baby jesus cry. :doh2:

Let us not also forget that Speed was Bellamy's minder. Shearer couldn't control him and SBR's influence was limited. Whenever there was an onfield spat with a ref - Shearer would rush toward the ref to be the voice of reason and Speed would rush to Bellamy to pull him away and calm him down. I am not going as fas as to say that Bellamy would have stayed if Speed stayed but it is more likely that Speed could have diffused the Souness v Bellamy problem.

Mods please change the title of this thread to "fantasy football chat"

Why would SBR lie about that sale when he openly admits to the mistake of selling Nobby? Equally popular and went on to play well for Villa. I believe SBR on this one.
-
Sadly the most common song for him was that evil ditty the Scouse makems sang. Another example of bitterness.

I felt that it was the same with Dyer. Speed got a great deal of criticism when Dyer first started playing with us because of his walkabouts. Either way Speed was usually playing the role of two CMs.

This indian yell thing... If it was 84-85 was it not more of Mexican "A-ya-ha-ha" thing? For those fo you who have travelled to Mexico its a tradition from the state of Jalisco.

On the plus side it would appear NUFC is better known than Juve. B&W stripes will never sell well in the States.

I am pretty sure Solano intends to return to Peru next year and change careers to being a manager. He said after he re-signed with us that he would play for us and then leave the UK when his contract was up. He kept to door open for returning to England as a coach, but only after he has proven to himself he can do it in Peru... so there may not be a choice there. I think Nobby is planning to be a player manager for one of the teams in Lima. So it could be a moot point. Moore - similar story. He wants to go back to OZ and it would really be up to him. Sibi... we have a paper thin squad and he is better than most of what we have so I would keep him for another year. Titus - nee chance man. Off to Ipswich you go.
-
Absolutely yes, as long as he is NOT played more than once per week. The games where he has faded badly are usually after he has played recently. He is getting on in years (retirement is looming for him) and needs to be played sparingly.

I think Ching would be better suited elsewhere in Europe. Not much aerial ability and hesitant on the ball.

Another thing I have noticed from watching the MLS and Premiership. The MLS is undoubtedly inferior but it seems to me at least that the physical conditioning of MLS players is better overall than the Premiership... what's up with that? I am so used to our players getting knackered and looking totally worn out after the 70th minute that it amazes me to watch an MLS game with most players sprinting and making runs up until the final whistle. Maybe that says more about NUFC's lack of fitness though. blueconfused.gif

Physical presence as well. He would probably cost less than 1m or ten Dempseys = 1 Luque.
