And to add to the above post - there is never any mention about what our defenders are good at or how they developed into such a strong unit as the season went on -- Trippier looked an end-to-end rock before getting hurt. His replacement in Krafu has tremendous levels of pace and is powerful in the air. Schar at his best is aggressive at interceptions and springing forward with great passing. Burn is a tremendous reader of the game and when he plays within himself he keeps everything in front of him. Targett is as solid as you get in terms of defender, never over-exposing himself and keeping the game in front of him. Add in Sven Botman who is both a strong reader, distributer and again, which you've failed to ignore, has tremendous recovery pace.

Mate, you continue to be so repetitive with bashing the defensive units like they are all sloths in terms of pace. It has nothing to do with just straight line speed, it has more to do with positioning and reading of the game. You go on about like we'll get burned by every team. We were rarely murdered for pace last season and when we were, what was the common factor? Very poor performances/tactical plan or execution ie: we played insanely high lines versus teams who were designed to run rampant on the counter. We lost to Spurs, Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Everton once Howe had it all sorted out in terms of the team. Only two of those were pastings, the other 3 were 1 goal losses of which 2 of them were stoppage time winners for the other team.

I think we're infinitely more solid by going with Trip at LB and Krafu at RB if Targett can't play, or I'd go Manquillo there. I know Burn can play there but man would we be really slow. I have absolutely no trust that Lewis will even be fit!
-
Interesting thing to think about - but if say Targett is unavailable, would you rather play 1) Trip there with Krafth at RB or 2) Manquillio there or 3) Burn there or 4) Pauly D/Lewis

Hard to sit here and bash a few Chelsea players who were all bought for huge numbers under Big Frank Lampard (a real shining example of a good, tactical manager) or even Tuchel. Yes they won the CL but I think many have rightfully pointed out they are hot and cold and they sign players with no real plan for how they'll fit into their systems. Werner was fantatic under Nagelsmann, where they played to his strengths and really worked with him.

barcelona has entered the chat

Sensible and smart to extend by a year, if he plays well enough to earn a move elsewhere or develops even further into the successor to Trippier then good on him and the club for seeing this in advance.
-
Fwiw we should never use NEOM as any guiding example of what we want at SJP or our training ground. Thankfully, it appears we’re doing that far more sensibly!
-
Draw the line when there’s any mention of cutting slack to a person like Bruce.

Missing a “now we’re cooooooking!” Eddie bit -
Boy is tossing money around like it's nothing on food, mind you was like 20 on BK, prob 25 on McDonalds, 50 on room service food.

I was wondering if he was going to bring up the apples to get in the mood

Top posts @HTT IIand @Dr Jinx Consider me shook a bit reading that article and hopefully others will do the same re: our players. We don't need to overly slag these lads off, even on off days, there is no doubt in my mind Howe and the coaching staff will be doing what's needed to right those wrongs and mistakes. We're all United!

even the coke bit, killed me.

Mate, i think that is why Howe really wants to keep him around (along with Lascelles, Fede and Dummett), they really seem to be the old heads around the club and look after the youngins and the new guys. I'm all for it mate. Eddie knows what he's doing and I back him!
-
I think we're all going to naturally kick off about players not doing the business for our club, and we'll continue to do that. I know after reading that, I'm going to try and watch what I say about our own players (esp the local ones who grew up with this club in their blood) on the internet. I wouldn't want that said about my own kid either mate! I really really hope Sean and Joe Willock become important players for us this season.

I was cracking up every time he called that place a 5-star hotel ; his 20 nuggets and fries at the airport; his McDonald's meal at the 5-star hotel . Lord

Not sure if right place for this, but class stuff - seriously mad how poorly we were run before this. https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/sir-dave-brailsford-visits-magpies-in-lisbon/ -
Barca are hardly a beacon of being sensibly run.
-
Started welling up reading some of that, the fact he's a local boy and the negative press he was getting (and stuff he probably reads online, even though he shouldnt!) was really getting to him. Good reminder he's a human being, a local kid who absolutely adores NUFC and some of hte shite said about him is pure trash. Kick on Sean!
-
Obviously, but we're thinking we're going to sign a guy for 30m+ who played 80% of his last 50 matches on the left side to then switch sides to the right or ask the current incumbent to do that? I get that I'm also advocating Paqueta to play there so I'm talking out of both ends here.
-
It's comedy stuff, don't take it so seriously and if you don't want to watch it, leave it alone.
-
I get that but he's played like 80% of his last 50 matches as left sided player. We never consider moving Maxi the opposite side and have always almost gone with someone else there.
-
Do we plan on moving Maxi to the right? Jack Harrison has played nearly the majority of his career on wide left.
