He’s comfortably effective as a 10 and a winger. He’s got more than enough intelligence to learn how to be an effective 8 in Eddie’s system. Any talk that he’s not a priority is fucking bonkers. Any talk that he doesn’t have the physicality etc is also bonkers too. He’s one of the top attacking mids in English football and 4-5 years of stats back that up. He was our #1 choice last summer and I’m sure he’s 1a or 1b with Dom.

If we just leave our team to be a bunch of pressing grafters we will get found out. It’s no surprise we opened up a bit second half of the season (and conceded more) as we became more ambitious and risky. We will need a Maddison type to unlock tricky defenses who will sit back and force Bruno to do it all or Trippier to cross it in.

If Maddison signs I’m guessing he’s first choice winger for now.

Our entire attack isn’t really designed to have him cross or attack. When he does it’s fucking bloody awkward and randomly effective. He’s def needing to be upgraded, ideally you find another really strong defensive player who’s just obviously better going forward.

I think I read that the idea is Bruno will probably replace Casimero and that trio.

The best Italian midfielders usually seem like one club guys or if they broke through from a smaller team they get the big move and stick around for a while and bounce between the top clubs. Why didn’t Lampard, Xavi, or Gerard leave their countries? The clubs they were at were challenging for honors and such. It doesn’t seem so crazy to say that.
