I don't think its too bad a situation tbh. 4 fullbacks, yes 3 are young but 1 has played nearly 150 top level games. Whether or not you rate these players is another matter, but the club has 2 fullbacks and then two pushing them so long as they're fit. Unless you're Man City you don't have 4 of close quality and experience, even Chelsea throw in Bertrand when Cole is out and he's a very ordinary footballer. I rate all of them, and I wasn't being clear with my point. Just a shame that we have exciting prospects in Haidara and Dummett who've slotted in and done a decent job and we are lacking in that young, depth on the right side.

More credit should be given to Remy who had to 2 perfect touches to bait and get around Friedel. Friedel did nothing wrong there. Poor from Paulinho, great tackle and ball from Gouffran and first class finish by Remy.
-
What pisses me most of....this man is far richer than some of the American businessmen who spend a boat load on their NFL teams, etc.
-
We have no natural depth but we have depth.... just like Man Utd really when Rafael is out they play CBs at RB. I'm pretty confident who ever replaces him will do a good job. Naw of course. I'm fine with Anita, MYM, or Santon playing RB.
-
We have to go back to playing our own game at home, esp to Norwich. Gouffran and HBA on the wings, if Anita slots in at RB he'll sit and just play it simple, defend, and pass. Sissoko & Cabaye at CM with Tiote sitting. Santon-MYM-Willo stay exactly the same and we BUILD on our good run of form by inserting HBA into a team that has a positive, winning mentality.

We have 3 promising young LBs, and 1 experienced at his peak RB. No depth for him, naturally...classic stuff.

I said it after the Chelsea game; we've done some fine recruiting that would have been really top notch with a few more top players who had less "adapting" period and more slotting straight in (PL experience type players). With some decent investment into the squad and the right manager we are easily a top 7-8 side. There is a hell of a lot talent in the team but aren't maximized b/c we lack key depth in CB, Wings, and Attack. With a few proper left/right footed wingers, a bull of a striker, and a commanding CB (could even say its 4 players short at minimum) we are well on our way to being where we want to be. Add a manager like Pochettino, Laudrup or Martinez, who are all tactically astute managers getting the most out of their squads and you bridge the gap. I've said it before, its mind boggling - a top manager can absolutely reduce a talent deficiency or lack of major investment.

Not a clue what he'll do; he obviously is enjoying his football and is most definitely going to continue his call-up into the France setup for the WC. If we end up having a good season, he continues to score goals for fun, and take some "big club" scalps like Chelsea, and Spurs in the process he may well enjoy it and stay. If we hold on to a lot of his mates (having finally joined them here) he could also decide he wants to stay. Still far too early to tell. Keep scoring and playing well this season, its all we can worry about right now.

I really do want Anita back there, but I think we forget how many headers Debuchy wins in a match from his right back position.
-
I'm almost upset that he's out for the next match; we'll absolutely miss his battling style.
-
When he went around Brad Friedel for the goal, he made that 1st little touch to bait Friedel to go to ground and then the 2nd touch which was sensational, got him around and put it away.

Skirge's photoshops man creasing right now, hilarious.
-
Yep. But made some silly and lacidaisical passes in the middle of the pitch that could have been costly. Captain's armband has transformed the man.
-
Thinking that he'll return to the team that's playing well and working hard for each other like he did in 11/12. Perhaps that's what is needed to get him back to his best.
-
He and Willo just can't be dropped, if it means Mapou moves over and slots back in, fair enough. But those 2 deserve to start -- hell the current back 4 all do.
-
Nobody would find that funny but you then.
-
Same here. Fine if so, but he deserves to regain his position at CB with Willo after Debuchy comes back.
-
Was laughing his ass off with Colo and Remy on the bench during the end of the match.
-
Rode our luck, but credit to all of our players on pitch - put in fantastic effort and everyone looks determined, focused, and prepared. Tim Krul was outstanding, some of the best keeping I've seen in years, one of the best (if not) the best performance any keeper has had for us in a single match. 7 points from Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs. I was under the impression we'd get nothing from these. They've shocked me.
-
We came away from Liverpool, Chelsea, and Spurs with 7 fucking points. Shocked, impressed, confused.
-
Played today like he did the season we finished 5th. World class performance today.

That's ace though - I love those early morning games over here. (or I would if I wasn't working a night shift tonight which finishes at 0730.) It's ace if Newcastle wins. When we lose an early game it means I woke up early on a weekend and will be in a p*ssed off mode rest of day. If we win, I'm ecstatic all day Sundays are perfect for a nice siesta. Win or lose, I'm going back to bed. Once I'm up...I'm up, which sucks on weekends. Anyway, off to bed...need some rest (attempt to) before this match. -
Agree man, spot on. Gundogan's all around game is what I hoped Cabaye would be. I think Gundogan is world class and hope he doesn't leave Dortmund. I don't want any of their players to leave tbh, that club is just brilliant.
