Hah, Tooj. I'll not ever give Leon any crap after that West Ham (h) hat trick and performance and his part in the 4-4 draw. That was fucking memorable to me
-
Thanks Disco, that was a wonderfully positive and pleasant read.

Strong lad who did all the hard work for his strike partners and pitched in with some excellent goals and some memorable performances. His hat trick on his full league debut, or the turn and strike vs. Fulham at home a few seasons back amongst others. We've not recovered since his departure in terms of striker depth, so that alone is enough to justify positive thoughts about the guy.

Gomis has some international pedigree and is less of true unknown. I think Leon at times was outstanding with some of the things he could do with the ball but his injury problems never allowed us to get the most out of him. Gomis is strong, decent pace, has good hold-up play and I actually quite like his style of being sort of a big bullish CF. He's an absolute upgrade on Leon who I really do rate. I'm really hoping we pull this off as I think it could be a great signing for us.

Similar to what was said above....I'd rather we loaned Dummett right now to a Championship club for first half of the season and keep 'Sadio to continue to allow him integrate into our club, city and team and then loan him to a Championship club when Dummett returns.
-
I've always liked what I've seen from him tbh. Hope this one comes off.
-
I'd take Santon and Haidara over him and happy we never signed him tbf.
-
Sunderland are hell bent on having a completely new starting 11 next season
-
All seems and sounds like an absolute load of crap to me

You fuck with Boca strips, you get some angry ass Boca fans...not good
-
Wonder if he's still with Miss Newcastle, she needs to have a word.
-
Few times I saw him play he seemed genuinely good enough. Better than Willo the very least.
-
That bit in bold is hilarious and anguish rolled into one.
-
Nothing will ever, ever match that fucking crazy week in January man. Went from Remy celebration, to Remy madness/anguish to that ridiculous week of signings and bliss that included beating Villa (barely) and that Chelsea home match. this fucking club.
-
I've always liked Gomis, he's a beast of a striker in terms of strength. We've literally been linked with him for fucking ages - like years even.
-
Of course Ashley wouldn't cough up a fee, and of course we'd not sign the bloke back. He'd probably refuse to wear the sponsors shirt Don't know man, Tiote is Cisse's best mate and not 1 single word from him on this and seemingly fine with it. All of the others seem OK as well.
-
He always struck me as a real down to earth kid, obviously he's got a very eccentric personal style, but really like what I hear from him when he speaks to the press - very thoughtful and low-key. Hope he continues to develop for us - he's an immense talent.
-
if we lost Cisse, I'd fucking love Ba back man.
-
Thought the total amount including the Ashley "debt" is about 135-150 + 100M so roughly 235-250 all-in.
-
Didn't Villa blow up the team that he was signed into? Not sure exactly...
-
If he was to be signed for us and our current strikers were left still intact, he'd be the 2nd best striker on our books. SO, if the top man is Cisse and he's sold - then being "stuck" with Bent is a much better option given his performances in the PL leading up to this upcoming season vs. having just Gouffran, Shola and Adam Campbell. I agree. And while many of us would love to sign someone of better quality than Cisse or someone like Benteke or Lukaku who's an all around beast, Bent isn't like signing Carlton Cole. Bent's probably far better than Cisse is in the air and being physical with less of the magical that Cisse has done for us.
-
He won't score if he gets s*** service like Cisse did last season. Of course not, and nor is he an upgrade on our #9 imo either. I'm just saying the guy is a pretty good striker and would be a "like-for-like" replacement, as much as it can be. I'd obviously not like to be in a position where Darren Bent would replace Cisse; rather instead be an option off the bench.
-
Bent will score goals. He's arguably stronger and better in the air no? May not be a better striker of the ball or be able to do the magic that Cisse can, but he's not some slack shit player. I'd rather keep Cisse but if it means we lose Cisse and we get Bent in return, I'd be upset that we lost Cisse but a little relieved we've picked up a decent striker with experience in the league. Having said that, if this also means we sign a Remy, then I'd be more at ease.
