His stature and prominence alone if we stay up could keep our top players, Owen included, in my opinion. Thats if Shearer doesnt take the Capello approach and boot him... But if Shearer is our long-term manager, then I see us being able to put together some excellent signings if we have SOME cash.

They could be so simple and just say... "Shearer has been appointed manager of Newcastle United. More details will be announced shortly."

Couldn't say it any better myself Rich, my feelings exactly. Shearer has always been my favorite footballer of all time as well as a childhood idol and hero. Everything about the man intrigues me from his mannerisms to the way he handles himself. Dream come true for me to be honest.

I think that possibility is just as intriguing and exciting as the Shearer appointment itself. I'd be chuffed to bits if we had another investor, it would have to keep DL and Fat Ash somewhat in line.

If this is true, and it all happens. Great. And hopefully Big Al can save us. But dare I say, if Ash and Co. dare try and screw over Shearer and pull a Keegan, then all hell will break lose x 20 from what happened after Keegan.

F'ng loved Gillespie, one of my fav players at the toon for the all the reasons mentioned by the OP.

Don't you think he has to partially think that with his quality, if he holds himself into that regard, that he is that a good player to be able to turn it around? If I was him, I'd be kicking myself partially - knowing that had I not had such "horrible luck" with injuries, that I would be a big enough prescence and player to have the club performing differnetly. Not saying he should blame himself, but a player of his apparent "stature" and "class" would have to know that had he not had such a terrible time with injuries, he would have have the club playing better, he would be banging in 20 goals and would be a no-brainer for England. Facts are facts - hes been plagued with injuries, when he gets in the team and has a strong run, he gets goals we start looking better, he gets hurt, he comes back, forced into the team and we stagger b/c he is completely out of the flow of the team. He works himself back in finally, starts scoring again and BAM, hurt again.

Was nearly in tears with the rush of emotion after he scored the goal to tie the match, if the perfect example of Oba didn't show on the game I don't know what. The harder the chance, the more instinctive he has to be, he rises. The simple stuff, he overthinks? But his celebration and the noise the crowd made (from what I could tell on the TV DVR, had to rewind it a few times to watch it again and hear the noise) was just lovely. That sinking feeling after though, eck...Don't even want to talk about it again. Shola on the pitch - would have burried the pen mind you. but he would have done F all after that.

he used to crack some curling drives around the top of hte box if I remember correctly with his right foot. Maybe it was the pace behind it? He just seemed to lose ALL of his shooting technique after his injuries.

a fit Torres all season and they'd be top in my opinion.
