  1. I'd rather see Man U win it and then the final, its been a poor season all round Europe in generally, the Spanish teams have been poor, Italians for the most part have lost the plot and the Germans have been out of sorts, but Man U for me have been the most entertaining and on balance are most deserving. I don't want to see the scousers win it again, Man U are better than them.
  2. It depresses the hell out me to be honest if I think about the new season with Roeder in charge! Allardyce was never my favourite choice to take over but given the position we are now in, I think he would be a very good shout. I doubt Shepherd will do it, christ when was the last positive footballing decision by the tw*t??

    Bramble

I doubt so.Not even Mourinho or Sir Alex can make him better. What i'm saying is that if we decide to go for Sam Allardyce then we should leave to him to decide what to do with Bramble...Maybe he fancies this new challenge of getting something out of nothing from Bramble...(Big challenge though really...) Give it up ffs. Did you see that f****** clueless no-concentration tit yesterday? He's s**** and I'm sick of hearing thick twats on here try to defend him and say we should keep him on. Amen
  4. Clearly he hasn't been trying to improve on his heading ability while he has been away, my gran could win more headers.
  5. I was at the Man U v Roma game in Manchester through business and I have to say it was one of the loudest and best performances I think I may have ever seen by any set of fans. Most impressive of all was the range of songs they sang, they had a song for ever player on the park! I hate Man U but have to say was surprised by how vocal they were, I know its a European game which is different but it was still impressive nonetheless. Add that to the performance and the general atmosphere and it was great game to be at, Man U or not. I couldn't say if they were like that all the time mind as I only see them at St. James and now and again at Old Trafford, I remember them being woeful at the last semi at Cardiff.
  6. I find it bizarre that not many people are mentioning Gary Lineker? Isn't he the joint top scorer ever for England? The guy was prolific - he may not have had the ball skills of Waddle/Beardsley or the leadership skills of an Adams but the fact is the guy scored goals by the truck load, one of the most clinical finshers I have ever seen.

    Eriksson For Toon

So how do you explain the fact that he took Benfica & Gothenburg to European Finals? To be honest, Gothenburg aside, nothing he has done has impressed me greatly, with Lazio he had bundles of cash and with England he was truly awful. As Wullie said, those achievments you mention were a long, long time ago. He's living off media hype these days.
  8. Shearer in his prime was for me the best all-round centre-forward on the planet so therefore is one of the best players I've ever seen. Yes he lacked Ronaldo's skill and pace but Ronaldo lacked his strength, heading ability and general leading of the line. People underestimate just how good Shearer was. Me, if I could choose between a Shearer or a Ronaldo in their pomp, I'd go for Shearer, more of a team player, braver and lead the line far better, would get you a goal from his head, right, left, set-piece or off his arse. Ronaldo, if he wasn't scoring or getting at teams, was pretty ineffective. Just my opinions though. I don't think he was the best striker on the planet, even in his pomp, in fairness. Agreed - I saw Van Basten in the '88 Euro finals - now that was the complete striker!

Jesus, Sven is one of the most tactically inept managers I have ever seen - his club success based on money and his ability to make good players look like dross with England is legendary. If ever there was a mercanary manager it was him! .............its a guarantee that we will sign him!
  10. That kind of implies he's the best in the world. Hadaway, it doesn't mean anything other than he's impressed me more than anyone I've seen given his age. Just my opinion remember. The actual Ronaldo was far superior at his age. Possibly better, but FAR superior??? The fact that folk are even having to say possibly is quite frankly a joke. I'd post a video of Ronaldo's one season at Barcelona during the same age if I could but I'd get banned. People were actually comparing his talents to Pele, it's amazing how short sighted fans are in today's game that the both of them are even mentioned in the same breath. Culminated with the fact it was Ronaldo's first season in one of the big leagues whereas these performances now buy Cristiano are culminated of 4 years worth of step-overs, no end product etc. Can't believe I've actually lowered myself to be drawn into this argument. Quite agree!
  11. You can't have watched much football. Ronaldo is a fine player but give me strenght - Zidane, Maradona, Gullit, Ronaldo (the Ronaldo), Van Basten to name a few in my time watching football.
  12. If we keep Roeder this summer, all that will happen is that we will give him a load of money, he may or may not spend it wisely, we will then have a horrendous set of results where by Xmas he will have run out of excuses and we will sack him, then be back in the sh*t, scrambling around for a manager at the wrong time of year - de ja vu anyone?
  13. I'm more concerned about our ever increasing overdraft.
  14. Given our position, you would be a nutter not to want him - who else is going to take it??
  15. I'm sorry but I completely disagree, not that he is brilliant in midfield, but his performances in recent games as a striker have proven that he isn't a natural or even good striker - he doesn't have the natural positional instincts of a striker nor the finishing of a striker. He would be ideal as a player behind the front two but I worry when people think of Dyer as a striker.
  16. We've only really got 2 worthwhile strikers, though. We actually need a 3rd striker, and have Shola as an avoid-if-possible 4th. Exactly! But you're forgetting about Shola's potential - he's a future England stiker you know!
  17. What makes you think he is good manager? Didn't he bring trophies also for Liverpool when he manage in there? In fact he is quite decent at Lyon also? it might be not as great as Paul Le Guen... but he not much worst than Le Guen... Im not sure how long he was manager at Liverpool but as far as i remember he only won the Uefa cup,Fa cup,Carling cup and the Super cup of Europe.........About Lyon...They have played in the last 2 semifinals in the Champions league..... My personal opinion is that Houllier is average manager Interesting basis for that opinion
  18. It's rare for someone to actually have the funds to acquire the land, develop it and run a business on it. Who is saying that?
  19. Some of the speculation on here is brilliant! Quite simply, the club does not have the funds in place to finance the developent itself. I am assuming that in this case, the club will be putting up the land as its "equity" in a Joint Venture with another party, which may or not be the contractor itself (very often the contractor is a 3rd party which means the two JV partners get a better price by putting it out to tender). The rest of the funds needed will be borrowed from a bank within this seperate JV entity. The risk is thus ring fenced in the JV entity but clearly the land will be put up as security. When the development is completed or hopefully well before (as in the case of a hotel) - the hotel/apartments will be sold either on a long leasehold or freehold.
  20. Completely agree with you Gemmill.
  21. I note that this is all before planning approval has been gained which is a massive "if". Classic Shepherd diversary tactics to get us off the "Roeder and Shepherd out" conversations!
