I think they have decided to let him rot in the reserves for the whole season and then walk out on a free. I am not so sure whether he can shine in other major clubs to prove Pardew's wrong. And in that case, the pundit would say Pardew was right, and HBA's career is finished.

I dun quite buy the argument of fatigue. He got 3 days to rest. He is at 27, career peak, and has been "conserving energy" for 1 year already, 1 year ffs. I would rather believe it is a mental problem. If he really feels like no energy to run at all, he should immediately take a break from football and undergo thorough medical check. This is extremely unusual for any professional footballer nowadays.

and felipao, i understand you rate Luiz, with sound reasons, but i can swear that Brazil will never win the world cuo again if Luiz's there. He is exactly the type of defenders that you couldnt rely on in a tournament. 5 excellent games, 1 disaster, done. Ability-wise he is world best, but tournament requires you to perform consistently and make no error in every game, EVERY. i am not solely blaming him for this world cup (scolari should be the one), but going forward it is better to find another defender to parter with Thiago.

I disagree that Brazil's squad wasn't good enough to win this World Cup. Up there with the best imho in terms of individual players' quality, and certainly much better than ours. It wasn't good enough. This team was a lot weaker than the one in 2002. No strikers (Ronaldo). No magician except Neymar (Ronaldinho and Rivaldo). No reliable holding midfielders (Kleberson and Gilberto Silva). No reliable full backs (Carlos and Cafu). While Thiago and Luiz are the strongest CB partnership in the world, they have no backups. Whether it is "good enough" depends on your opponent as well. Germany is the strongest in the planet right now, no question. This Brazil will never be able to beat this Germany. Netherlands got Robben, the best player in this World Cup. That's enough. He can win you all matches as long as you don't concede much at the back.
