  1. The second a borderline tap-in? I guarantee Cisse would've skied it.
  2. Nationality is a fluid concept. Generally after 4-5 generations in another country, people develop hybrid communities and culture. You're talking second generation. I'm talking 4 and 5 of which there are plenty in the UK (especially Indians and Caribbeans). Your point is bloody stupid. He believes he's been discriminated against so he should go back to his parents country of birth? Following your logic every black person outside of traditionally black countries should go back if they have been discriminated against.
  3. I know black people in their 30's and 40's whose parents where born in the UK. Soon their children will be professional footballers and it would only be the footballers great grandparents that where born outside the UK. I'm sure plenty of players coming through now only have grandparents born outside the UK. Why should they play for bloody Trinidad & Tobago?
  4. Eh? What are you talking about? Are you trying to compare someone born and raised in his home country with black British players? We are at the stage where some of the lads of caribbean ancestry won't even qualify for those nations over the next decade.
  5. Tbf, former black players seemingly being denied the opportunity to manage/coach is a bit of a thing in just about every sport save the NBA. How many black managers are there in the Football League? Hughton and Chris Powell? Is Terry Connor still managing somewhere? There aren't many but I'd be stunned if that was because they'd been discriminated against. It just so happens that a lot of the black managers have been hopeless or the ex-players a bit, erm, strange. Thinking back to old England teams - Ince (s****), Campbell (one crayon short of a full box), Davjd James (on tv), Heskey (no comment), Sinclair, Ian Wright, Darius Vassell,Carlton Palmer Sol Campbell can't be telling me that is a list of high calibre potential managers just not getting the chance. How many British managers in the Championship where players of any note? I mean... Alan Pardew ffs. Tony Pulis. Gary Monk. When I think of black British managers.. a couple where top-rate players (Barnes, Ince), another did a great job as interim manager for a long time (that's basically Hughts) and another a club legend (Powell). Your big name argument is weak.
  6. Can you give an example? Off the top of my head, you have the Steven Taylor incident. You then have things like the Andy Carroll incident where they were saying he was a gypsy and one national reporter said it was racist or something. Potentially, you have this Anelka incident. There are probably a lot more but I cannot be arsed to find them all... Stephen Taylor was pure ignorance, but footballers with their massive public profile need to know better That's a poor excuse.
  7. Are there 3 white defenders/midfielders with as many caps as Cole, Ferdinand & Campbell that have amassed as little England captain caps? I would think Scholes, Neville.. couldn't think of a third. He has a point - especially in light of the Mickey O. But he's not all the way right. And tbh any old institution in the UK is going to be tinged in a bit of racism. Some worse than others.
  8. Pulis was an excellent appointment. Palace never stay up, Pulis never gets relegated. Something has to give. They got fight and they know what they're doing. Unfortunately their fixtures are pretty hard. But they'll not go down without a fight. Hughton will be gone at the end of the season. If he stays they'll win a couple more to stay up. If he goes now they could implode. They'll not be caught by 3 of the sides below them atm. It would be a good lesson if WBA, Fulham and Cardiff went down and Palace stay up. Not because I like Pulis but giving British managers a chance instead of a big name foreigner. Especially with Rodgers doing so well too. Even Sherwood is doing alright.
  9. Good about. Imagine De Jong turns into a prime Viduka
  10. Yes it was. So why add all the acting?
  11. I can see why he went for all that money (considering his goal record in Holland). Even if he could only manage Gouffran type numbers in front of goal he would be well worth the money. His all round game is genuinely great. We haven't had this type of team forward since Bellamy (although in a much different way) or dare I say Kluivert?
  12. Why the fuck have I been watching Norwich vs Villa? Great goal by Benteke but i'm in for the second half of the Madrid derby. I thought this was on in the evening.
  13. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  14. Honestly friends.... i'm not sure I can even watch this. Came in to see them 1 up. I don't know, I don't understand what's happening. Quinn & Phillips in the studio.. I can't.... I simply can't. I've had this disgusting feeling for a long time that they will win.
  15. Like I said... makes things happen.
  16. Not being in any cups gives L'pool a chance but I don't think they'll do it. They're just one wobble away from being out of it. Arsenal really needed to keep up the consistency of beating the teams outside of the top 5. They didn't. With the games in the cups I don't think they'll be able to put 9/10 wins together. I really want them to win it but at this moment I think 4th and the FA Cup would be a good season. Things can change but I can't see them going on another strong winning streak. I prefer City out of the two so i'll go with them but Chelsea will push them close. I think L'pool will run them close too but that 4 point gap doesn't leave much room for faults, and they will falter slightly at some point. Arsenal - need to regain momentum to have any chance.
  17. Big, big 3 points there. Real deal.
  18. Titter ye not Ronaldo, don't make me bump the post where I predicted Rodgers would turn Liverpool around. Just like I correctly predicted Man U won't finish in a CL position this year More the fact you think there's a correct and incorrect way of playing football. Well the better teams do tend to pass it around more as opposed to going down the long ball route. So every PL boss except the 2 or 3 who predominantly like to hoof it are playing correct football. Got ya. Every PL boss is trying to do it, but it comes more naturally to some than others. So Brendan Rodgers has found it much easier to implement than his predecessor Dalglish for example. Ferguson found it more natural than David Fallaini Moyes. If you had a choice of Keegan or Pardew to implement the correct fashion of football who would you choose? There's that phrase again. There's no incorrect, or correct about it. Keegan's just a far more intelligent football man and a personality with far more balls and ambition, that's what makes him a better manager. I feel dirty even responding to a post comparing the two of them. So do you have a different interpretation of correct and incorrect then? I'm assuming you do since you LOL'd at mine. As I made clear, it's ridiculously simplistic to use such words. Ironically it's the type of stuff I'd expect in an endorsement of scientific Allardyce-like approach. Bobby went back-to-front plenty during our 4th, 3rd, 5th seasons. Love to see you phrase that as incorrect. I did it ages ago, in fact I created a thread about how he transitioned from using Duncan Ferguson and Shearer to creating the CL side with Bellamy and Dyer. What's Duncan Ferguson got to do with finishing 4th, 3rd and 5th under Bobby? And Bobby didn't even sign Dyer. Was Dyer a CM before Booby came in?
  19. Agreed. Technically he's still bang average. He'll be given the runaround against good opposition.
