Stoke have come out a shambles. I'm scared.
-
That almighty whooping gives then an extra point and deservedly so. Rodgers still has a long way to go. Results no better than the old fella.
-
I do agree with this. Second half against Wham, we didn't look to get men forward at all. Just invite pressure. Alan Pardew.
-
We are a small technical side but we don't play like it so we struggle for goals. Goals wise. Cabaye probably does "enough". However nobody else does in midield. HBA is always injured. Marveaux is shot shy. Sissoko I just don't know who he is. And the others can't attack. In defence. The set-pieces are horrible and only really Saylor is good in the air.

Di Matteo is an Italian Pardew. A pragmatist. Apparently good at squad management but what else? Tactically i'm uncertain. He's either gung-ho or very defensive in terms of approach.

Set pieces - the delivery is half the problem. Having few players good in the air is the rest. -

Fully agree here. These are at least decent players, made to look worse by Pardew. That doesn't excuse them from being shit and/or not trying. I hope we stay up, get a better manager in and move forward with Cabaye playing a big role in our future. However, I will not forget these last few weeks. A month ago you can see he was frustrated, now he just playing like he doesn't care. Unacceptable. -
A footballing career is so short and can change in an instant with a big injury. Spurs have been at the same level for at least 3 years. Moving from challengers to Champions, you can question a player's heart. But Spurs? Bloody Spurs?
-
Grow up. Tottenham are 2 levels below winning a big trophy. Arsenal and Chelsea haven't been at their best and they're fighting neck and neck with Spurs. That is their level. Staying another year is a good shout but Spurs aren't that close to challenging for big honours. Grow up??? If that's growing up, then I'll stick with the Lost Boys, thank you very much. What a soulless world you seem to live in. Sewelly is bang on. He might well want s***-tons of money or CL every year (which conveniently ignores the fact that he didn't leave last year), but that doesn't mean that there should be a concerted effort in the media to shift him on, perpetuating/accelerating the decline of club competition. In one respect, I won't put Spurs in the same box as Arsenal until we're earning the same amount as them, and paying the same stratospheric wages. Didn't stop us beating them a couple of months back. It amazes me that you can bring yourself to support Newcastle with that attitude - although I presume that you do so because football clubs stand for something deeper. Maybe some of these young footballers, if able to reflect without the pressure of a hysterical, one-eyed media and the clamor of agents, would feel the same. I don't care about the media. I'm talking about Bale's position. Unless Spurs make big strides next season, i'd be looking to leave if I was him. Spurs are not BVB. Heck, they're not even Arsenal. They don't win major trophies either.

Every player thread = let's sell him. -
I put Spurs in the same box as Arsenal last season. That's for me, 2 levels below really being a top team. With Nasri and Fabregas, probably another couple great signings away from that level. That's a big jump. Watford lads bottled it.

Staying another year is a good shout but Spurs aren't that close to challenging for big honours. Totally disagree. I firmly believe Spurs are a couple of quality players away from a genuine top 2 push. Man Utd have not been that good this year yet they're streets ahead of the competition. They really aren't anything special. OK, they may not suddenly win the title but they're looking up a hell of a lot more than looking down. I say good on them. And I hope Bale stays. I do think Bale will give it another year at Spurs. If they don't challenge or make massive strides in Europe he'll leave and for good reason. Arsenal with Fabregas and Nasri, I think they could've really challenged and perhaps they should have stayed. But RVP left for good reason. A couple amazing signings is no small feat at that level. The best players in the world should be at teams that can challenge.

Staying another year is a good shout but Spurs aren't that close to challenging for big honours. "2 levels below winning a big trophy" ffs. What does that even mean? Wigan Athletic are playing in the FA Cup final next week, I presume they're 1 "level" above Spurs? [/quote I'd kill for us winning an FA cup but its no longer a major trophy. Mancini will most likely win it and the season won't be seen as a success for them.

Might want to win some trophies or earn 100k or something small like that.
-
Spurs = keep a clean sheet and hope Bale wins it.

Danny Simpson isn't as bad a player as many on here make him out to be. Defensively solid but poor on the ball.

CL dropouts rarely win it. -
My main thing is, Ribery isn't even that good. Flat-track bully to the full extent. Very good player but for me, he's not in that top bracket of attacking player.
-
I agree with every word Sewelly.
-
Robben is selfish and defensively lazy at times, it's not hard to see why the fans my prefer Ribery who is a much more hard working player. Ribery is certainly not more effective. Robben is basically 2 in 3 in the league for Bayern while Ribery is 1 in 3. Ribery does provide more assists but Robben is no slouch in that area despite the greedy label. 2 performances in 3 years. Before this season he's had 32 goals in 53 games for Bayern. C'mon you're making things up now Mole. You can't say he hardly shows up. Robben is a winger and more of a match-winner. Never been a massive fan of Ribery. All too often top fullbacks will have him in his back pocket in big matches.
-
At his best Robben would comfortably make a world XI, can't say the same for Ribery. Ribery's been in the side more and has had a better season overall than Robben but Robben still looked the more dangerous player over the two legs. Robben's the more capable player.
-
I don't remember him being terribly selfish at Chelsea. I guess you can't under Mourinho and he largely played on the left where it's easier to cross/flash it across the 6 yard box than shoot. He's the best player of his type at the club. Might not be the hardest working but he's clearly a level above the likes of Ribery.
-
Had a 1v1 in the world cup final and missed a penalty in a CL final. The two biggest trophies in European and World football. I#m certain it crosses his mind and perhaps let out a tear or two in his million pound pillows.

Robben has a load of runers-up medals doesn't he?
