  1. If Shay is 6"1 then what kind of monster is Forster?
  2. Well I absolutely disagree. Of all the positions on the field, and all the stats you can pick the number of saves per shot when taken over a large enough range of games is one of the least subjective stats you can use. Over time the percentage of easy saves to unstoppable shots will even out, and this stat is especially valid when you are talking about how good a shot stopper a keeper is. FACT is this - Given rarely makes mistakes. I've come to realise that a lack of making mistakes is enough for a large proportion of people to pronounce a keeper or defender as being great. Not making mistakes is a great attribute to have, but it is not the be all and end all. FWIW the first goal on Saturday was saveable - not easily, but saveable non the less. I've believed in this for a long time.
  3. Ahhhh.. the old Shay Given discussion. He's so over-rated by bour fans it is unbelievable.
  4. I put Duff & Owen in the same category. I rarely think of either player, it's a bonus when they can start.
  5. Owen has been no better for Newcastle than Martins has. I suspect if you compare their goals per games ratio, Owen'd be miles ahead. I suspect if you compare goals scored in their time at Newcastle I think you'll find Oba will be ahead. Fact is: Owen has barely played for us. Oba is much more a permanent fixure in our side than Owen... you can't replace someone who barely plays.
  6. Oba's scored more goals than Owen this season...... Owens only scored one. Small shoes there....
  7. This is an important post. I honestly never think about Duff when I think about our squad. Totally forget about the lad.
  8. Not if he's injured constantly. Woodgate? ooooooooo rodhamino got merc'd, pure ownage. Nah blad, he got murked.
  9. 1836: Barcelona have just told us Deco and Eidur Gudjohnsen that they are free to move to Newcastle United. Their spokesman confirmed. "Its a dream move for the pair, and we wish them all the best on Tyneside." BBC.CO.UK
  10. I don't know what to say. I'm glad he wont play for us within the near future but I also don't like our players receiving terrible injuries.
  11. Correct. Taylor didn't catch any flack for being at fault for Boro's first goal, yet we are against him because we want better players to start ahead of him.
  12. By looking like he could'nt run very fast anymore. Hopefully he'll find atleast another gear to kick into as he finds fitness. He looks knackered atm.
  13. Agreed. There is no way he should get a game ahead of Owen or Martins. What the hell is he going to do on the right? I thought he was hear to be Kevin Davies away from home.
  14. Only Barcelona have managed to retain the title in Spain since the turn of the century. Valencia have won La Liga twice in recent memory as have Deportivo. With Seville putting in a strong challenge last season. Like someone said, the Premiership last year was the most exciting for years yet the La Liga race blows that out of the water. With 6 games to go you had FOUR teams with a realistic chance of winning the league.
  15. I agree with Bob in the aspect that none of oiur signings are exciting and that we could've flashed the cash a bit more.
  16. Marcel Desailly says that in every sentence. Who is the prat who calls our no. 9 "Martines"?
  17. Fuk that. I hope he stays and fuks them off like Souness did to us. Stay until i'm sacked, and take every penny i am owed with me, and in the meantime i'll let the players do what they want and pick the team out of a hat. A|ye that would be class. Spurs have treated him worse than we did with Sir Bob.
  18. Hmmm ... not so sure about that. Of all the premiership managers, I think I would least like them to get Harry Redknapp. Very underated manager I think, also has an eye for a decent player. What's he done at West Ham or Portsmouth that Souness didn't do at Blackburn? Not fall out with alot of his players. Play attractive football. Harry's a far better manager than fucking Souness.
  19. Everyone seems to agree that this is an excellent post. I expected Sam to bring in some of his Bolton philosophies and adapt them to us, for example making us a taller side, set-pieces and all the back room stuff. However he's simply trying to make us Bolton and I'm dissapointed. I don't think ANY of our top strikers can adapt very well to a 4-3-3. Viduka's a big lad but he's best with the ball at his feet. Owen can go 90 mins. simply running off-the-ball trying to find space and Oba's only really useful in the final 1/3rd. At home a feel the fans will get on Sam's back if it's 0-0 and half an hour gone whilst playing the long football.
