If your man is able to win a header in the box and you’re not even touching him, he’s done you and you’ve let yourself down a bit. That’s what Burn has been doing so tremendously. That hasn’t been happening to him when it matters.

It’s not the shot stopping with Pope that makes him so good. Is that he’s usually boss at commanding his area. It relieves a lot of pressure. Punching it. Catching it. Goalkeepers like Vicario - put a corner kick on his head and he’ll struggle badly.

Tino is one of the most important players in the squad. He’s essentially first choice fullback in both positions. He’s literally the last defender we would want out for an extended period of time. Everybody else has another player that could step in for 25 games if fit and barely see a dip. Trippier is fine for once a week. But he can’t play 3x a week at the level.

Aye. But he’s our player. So cos Ancelotti fucked it, I hoped Bruno would get a decent rest. I was surprised by the Bournemouth rest and assumed he would be rested in the cup too - that would’ve been ideal.

The moment of truth with Pope is coming anyway. Whether it’s this season or next he’ll pickup an injury or simply lose his place and another GK will get a run. And we’ll see.

I’ve thought been a massive fan of Gordon so I don’t want to criticise him too much. I kinda just think this is his level. He needs to be in the zone to do better and he frequently isn’t.
