  1. FMs scouting hasn't been at all bad throughout the years tbf
  2. What I don't know is - does the additional players count as book value? So £20m cash, McKennie £20m, other lad £10m. Does that make it a 50m transfer on the books? If that's the case. It gets them out of PSR bother this season and unlocks a CL spending spree (the 2-3 quality players they need for the fight).
  3. Amortisation is never ‘done’. KDB still has an amortised figure. It’s just very low. So you sign a player for 50m on a 5 year deal. 10m per year. But after the 3rd season you extend him for another 5 years. So 30m has been amortised with 20m left. That 20m is then amortised over the new 5 year deal so it’s 4m per year. I think the only way a player becomes 100% amortised is if the players contract is only renewed at the very end of the contract. Luiz was signed for 15m ish iirc. He’s played 3 or 4 of a 5 year contract (or something). So only 1/5 or 2/5 of his fee is on his book value. So the transfer is mostly book profit. But it’s not pure profit like an academy graduate. I’ve said this before. Luiz would’ve wanted Tielemans money to stay. Thats 7.5m-10m a year. Selling him makes sense on a lot of fronts. But the fee is so poor.
  4. I'm all in on Minteh lad. Whether he stays or goes - I'm invested. The potential is scary.
  5. Smart people say this is a good deal so I'm happy. Never noticed him as a player. Injury record looks bad and 5-year deal looks a risk. Glad to have a Lloyd in the squad. Welcome lad.
  6. They've already won. They are like a budget Spurs. The key objectives have long been realised financially. Stadium there. Repute their. Valuation skyrocketed since the owners bought it. Them finishing 6th is like when Spurs got to the CL final. Zero ambition to consolidate and kick-on. Spurs, Brighton and Brentford have the lowest wages to revenue ratios in the league. Owners laughing to the bank.
  7. We did that later in the window. That allowed additional transfers. Villa are doing it in June because if they don't, they will get a points deduction. They've gone over the limit and need a sale of a 90% amortised player to get them back in the PSR black.
  8. They won't ever. A lot of club owners like this setup. 6+14 like Ashley did. He was on the gravy train. Brighton have basically hacked the transfer market. Brighton qualified for Europe and sold £150m worth of player. They didn't bother reinvesting it all. No desire to kick-on.
  9. PSR is shit. Villa have had to flog one of their key players on the cheap to avoid a points fine next season.
  10. We need to sign a RW regardless. Pinning a RW spot on a 20yo from Gambia with 2 years playing in Scandinavia and Holland seems a bit daft. It opens us up to other options fro the RW spot. A loan... Bryan Gil
  11. He does have the "impact sub" about him and that's how he was sometimes used at Feyenoord. He doesn't seem much of a passer. He's getting on the ball, taking on his man and getting himself into dangerous positions. That might be too heltah skelter for Eddie rn. He seems to work pretty hard too. A loan could help him develop and round his game. I do think we could peddle one of the RWs, buy a new RW and have Minteh as a bench option.
  12. Would've preferred Southgate. But ETH is a horrible man-manager. At times he looks to have lost the dressing room. The only hope he has is that this decision forces the players onside or he can kick out the main rebels (RASHFORD).
  13. He looks about 6ft. He could be a problem in the air with the right development. With Minteh's time in Eredivisie - it's not just the goals. A lot of his underlying metrics are brilliant and he did that at 19. Then with the eye test he has good physicality - good size, quick, brave and confident on the ball, skilful, productive and excellent shooting technique. Comparing him to a 24-year old Kezman, with no pace, size or skill because they've both played well in the Eredivisie is lazy.
  14. The fact the deal is concluding in June makes me think it’s an FFP/PSR fire sale. Luiz had 2 years left on his contract and would be after a bumper deal. Sell him now. Don’t know how the accounting will work out but they might be able to claim at as a £50m transfer with the other players as add-ons to the fee. I don’t know how that one works out. IMO it’s the type of sale Ashworth might’ve done for Joelinton if we needed the FFP/PSR headroom.
  15. How is that Luiz deal accounted for? Is it like a 40m book fee because of the added players? Or just 20m? 20m is piss poor imo. That’s a fire sale due to PSR no doubt. McKennie - never been impressed and on big wages. never heard of the other lad. Shit deal.
  16. 3rd choice LCB (2nd for now), 2nd choice LB. I like it. Retire Burn at LB. Compete with him at LCB.
  17. Isn't Olise a RW/AM? Like is he not a very similar profile to Palmer? You can play either at 10 I guess.
  18. Honestly, I love Pope. I found myself rooting for him to be taller than Trafford lol.
  19. Minteh has a full wonderkid trajectory. For his age - those stats are amazing. He's not doing this at 24 or 25. He's about to turn 20.
