It’s all he say she say now. But any agreement, would at least have been a written agreement from last year. That’s a better position than we are now in. With so long left on his contract, a then willing signee, I don’t see why we would agree to a low release clause and no contract extension. We use the leverage we have. You’ve got so many years left, we are doubling your wage, we’ll add only 1 extra year and a fair release clause befitting a player of year calibre with 3-5 years left. Again, I used the Palmer example. New contract within 12 months of signing a 7+1 year deal. He signed for a further 9 years. You pay him his worth. You can’t convince me our PSR position is so perilous we couldn’t give our best player a new contract. If it’s so bad we should sell him anyway and rebuild.

With Isak’s carry on and Liverpool’s carry on we can’t wilt. In one of those books there’s something about ‘let your enemies save face’. Liverpool haven’t given us any out. A victory for us is now keeping him for a year and for him to score 11 goals and sell him for £100m next summer. That doesn’t help Liverpool much either with only 4 senior attackers. If we fold we are done.

It wouldn’t really. An extra year on his contract meant we could give him another £2m per year at equal amortisation cost. Another £3m is like Lascelles salary money - it’s not a lot. An extra year £2-3m per year in total additional PSR cost is not a lot. And again - it prevents this situation. Which is ultimately worth a lot more than £2-3m. Chelsea are idiots mostly. But they were right to give Palmer the new deal and they did so after about 18 months on an already 7 year deal or whatever it was. You pay him his worth and he can’t complain- all the while locking him down to protect his value. This situation is awful. Isak has made poor decision after poor decision. But the club has made multiple poor decisions too. Eales and Mitchell the repeat offenders. They didn’t manage the fans or Eddie well im not surprised they didn’t manage the players well either.
-
Aye it doesn’t. Isak is trying to burn his Tyne bridge so he can go. That’s so shitty from him. I assume the people that made promises to him have all left anyway. He owes it to us fans, Eddie and his team mates to be better than this. And himself. You rarely see a player so beloved by a club behave like this.

Aye the top 6 have strengthened Mostly due to weakening the rest of the league. Last season a squad of the best of the rest would win the league. They would even be competitive against a best of top 6 squad too. Most of the best of the rest players outside us and Villa joined the top 6 - Eze, Kudus, Mbeumo, Cunha, Ait-Nouri, Bournemouth deffbcd sold off around Europe. Thing is - most people think a strong EPL = strong top 6. Even non top 6 fans often think that. Imo last season had the best spread of talent we’ve seen bar the bottom 3.

If we are semi competitive and close enough in salary he would choose us - over the bottom half of the big 6 at least rare case -
Contract expired in 2027 and he wasn’t signing a new contract. So they’ve sold him now to get £40m rather than £20m next summer. PSR was a contributing factor - they couldn’t afford his value to start dropping because of PSR. But the driving factor is his contract situation and truthfully his performances/fit in the system. Had he been performing like Rogers but in the same situation in contract and PSR - they keep him unless the offer is crazy.

Teams driven by PSR issues will now sell in June. Particularly Wolves who are at risk of relegation if their Larson replacement flops. No way do they sell for a reasonable fee

I’m not confident we will.

Not a penalty for me.

Or more accurately imo - how much a great manager can do for you. Schar was an international and I think he would’ve got a move abroad and found his level at a good side. But Murphy in particular and others. Eddie has done wonders for their careers. We saw Murphy not looking out of place in the Champ in his late 20’s

We definitely missed him when we had to play Miley so often. Miley did a good job but Anderson was better when he eventually got a run towards the end of the season. -
Lots of teams don’t look great. Outs our performance and result in perspective.

Baying it was awful when he played last season. Super bad. Hes much worse than Onana. They are trying to force Onana out right? Keep him until they have a replacement.

Always liked Etikite as a player. A classy player. Would’ve been a hero here.
