  1. That's like avoiding giving Eddie credit because Spurs and Man U stink.
  2. Nobody had Liverpool winning the League. Most ppl expected a slight decline from Klopp. A top 4 battle even.
  3. I said at the time, Chris Wood is about as good a backup striker we could have.
  4. I’m going to sound like a broken record. Most top teams do not have a dedicated backup striker. The backup striker is a player that can play in numerous positions so is guaranteed minutes in every scandio. If they do have a backup striker it’s a kid or veteran. Man City’s backup striker plays on the wings and as a 10. Barcelona’s Ferran plays on the wings. Real Madrid have a teenager, last season they had a 34-year old Joselu. In all honesty our backup striker is going to be (1) our new RW if that’s an Mbeumo or Cunha type, (2) Anthony Gordon, (3) Osula, (4) Callum Wilson. If we sign an out and out striker it’s going to be a DCL type free transfer/body. Who will play the same role as Wilson is playing now. A half fit Kane always started. A half fit Haaland starts. A half fit Lewandowski starts. I think we sign a tactically flexible wide forward to give us forward options between him and Gordon.
  5. Yeh Slot deserves it. After Slot, it's a toss up between Nuno and Eddie. Probably Nuno. Most had Forest finishing bottom half. Hard to predict with so much to be decided. If we finish 2nd, it's Eddie for me.
  6. Wissa has 18 non-penalty goals. That's more than Mbeumo & Wood. And only 1 behind Salah, Isak & Haaland. He's gone under the radar for kudus. Salah has scored 9 penalties I'm of the belief the top scorer award should not include penalties. IIRC in several seasons Mane scored more open play goals than Salah (I may have madeup this stat but there's some truth to it). But for much of their time together it was seen as Salah was a level above. Senegal beating Egypt on penalties to win AFCON & qualify for the WC is justice for that I guess.
  7. We are favourites regardless. We are going to Arsenal to keep it tight and try to nick one with carefully timed pressing and counters regardless. We'll settle for a draw regardless. And we'll go into Everton trying to win.
  8. Milenkovic as well. It's that CB partnership + Wood. Would have Cunha and Gabriel before Declan Rice for PL performances. Agree with Gravenberch pick
  9. We will never sign a striker that will play ahead of a 85% Isak though. It's a 4th priority for me. Maybe 5th.
  10. But like... they actually can. I don't know why they don't want to sign top ballers like they used too. PSG have the team City should. Kvara, Doue, Joao Neves - lots of money but not obscene that Man City haven't spent. They are going to spend Joao Neves money and more on Morgan Gibbs-White. It's horrible scouting.
  11. Agreed but Vardy is a step too far. I would take Danny Welbeck though.
  12. Signed from Ligue 1 Champions - not a midtable club.
  13. Mendy was tops for like 2-years for Chelsea. Think he won the FIFA GK award deservedly. Won the AFCON and CL in the same year iirc
  14. Nah FA Cup 3rd round and 4th round are banana skins due to requiring significant rotation. FA Cup suits teams with deep squads which is why City win it so often.
  15. He plays for AC Milan. Seen him wear the armband. People are being pedantic. It's not about the French league, it's about inexperience at a high-level. Being a goalkeeper isn't like being a central midfielder
  16. Goalkeeper specifically. As I mentioned elsewhere - there are exceptions but most GKs hit their peak later in their careers. I look at the business other clubs have done: Vicario Sanchez Martinez Ramsdale Kepa Pope The best business was the older GKs. I like Vicario mind but a GK that needs to learn on the job will cost us points.
  17. I don't think a green away kit and sponsors is going to be the limit of Saudi influence on the clubs assets. Think most people won't mind a Saudi-named new stadium. I don't love it. But I think it's inevitable (not necessarily Saudi green in the badge) if the Saudi's are as invested as we need them to be.
  18. It's a massive deal in the PL. But it's something that can be improved.
  19. Agreed. Mamardashvili seemed perfect because although he's young, he looks much the finished product. It's a bad Valencia team but a big team nonetheless. I guess I just don't want us to have a GK that has to learn on the job. And Howe is the type of manager to bench a player who needs that indefinitely anyway.
  20. I like the atmosphere you get in places with wall-to-wall noise. It turns up a level when the action of the pitch gets going but keeps a minimum atmosphere level when the action is slow
  21. History is already being kind to Neymar. No coincidence he's the favourite player of the most exciting teenagers around in Yamal and Doue have him as their idol. None of the players that grew up idolizing CR7 are as enjoyable to watch
  22. I take it back - 2 Magpies rather than 1. The link to the cities coat of arms is of its era. We should move on. I always thought that over time, we would become more Saudi-like, and that would be good for the team's success. The green kit and sponsorship were a first step of many.
  23. Rooted to his line at crosses. Had links with Leeds and a few others. Selz is 30+..... he's seemingly improved crazy this year, he was a weak link last year. We had him in his mid 20's.... he wasn't very good. I dunno. I like Pope. Our lack of transfer wokeness has been an advantage for us. I don't want one of these regen keepers that can't handle pressure or a cross.
