Ambitions clubs maxed out. Unambitious clubs still unambiguous.

Only the PIF owned Saudi clubs. The non PIF owned Saudi clubs can pay whatever they want for our lads. Calls can be made and not tracked. Agreed. We’ll have poor depth until we consistently qualify for Europe it seems. Which wil make that harder to achieve.

What fee are we looking at? Saudi playing 4d chess by getting a non-PIF owned club to drop £40m on Miggy? -
How much we looking to get for Miggy? This club is not PIF owned right? So they can do £20m and nobody can say owt ?

2 of those fit his profile very well and the other is also our best player. He clearly doesn't reject class players out of hand, they just need to fit his style. His style does lean towards British footballing experience. Long-term I do think he'll need to prioritise a more technical profile of player more commonly found on the continent. But you never know.
-
Why is it a stick? I think Onana is more attractive to him because he's PL-proven. That's fair. I think Howe would fancy him a little less straight from France. The same is probably true of Kalvin Phillips. If the transfer committee believe the Atalanta lad is better and better value for money - I'm sure we'll sign him instead. He also has that physical, ball-carrying profile Howe likes.
-
Yes we can ignore most of the EFL signings. But his 2nd and 3rd seasons in the PL can tell us a bit about his thought patterns. Likewise we can use the signings and strong transfer ruours he's had at Newcastle to understand the type of player he likes. The physical and direct profile he seems to like... benefits from experience of British football. I don't think he's xenophobic or anything and would turn down great talent from abroad - but he knows the profile he likes and it favours PL experience. I think he wanted Szob, he wanted Maddison, he wanted Harrison. Different types there but he does like some British footballing experience more than other managers.
-
We can't use the club he was at for 8 years to provide an indication of the type of player he likes? For the 3/4 years they were in the PL it has zero indication of what he likes? Ok mate.
-
It's pretty clear Howe prefers players with British football experience. His Bournemouth side was very British. This side is very British. Also his style of play requires athleticism, aggression and work rate more than the average manager. So again it suits a player already adapted to the PL.
-
Agreed. It still sucks though.
-
I doubt it. If we get £12m - that's a £30m-40m signing on a 5 year deal + wages. I assume we could do with the additional head room. Getting £12m in a fee won't unlock a mass spending spree IMO.
-
It is a concern long term. If we sell him now, it’s a concern short term too. Selling Trippier is far from ideal. If we must do it to get a CM with Joelinton out - so be it. I guess. I blame Tonali and Eddie’s lack of player care.
-
The idea that selling Trippier for £12m unlocks 2 long term transfers is fanciful imo. It’s Trippier out and a hard running, dribbly CM in for £30m. Thats it.
-
Also would like Tino to be our first choice LB.
-
Think that could unlock a midfield purchase. With Joelinton out for the season and Willock awhile away, we are massively short there.
-
Aye. If we finish below Bournemouth Howe’s job will be at risk.
-
I’m not suggesting that we can’t leverage this into a net positive. But it does suck to lose our most creative player and it weakens our challenge for Europe unless the money is reinvested in this same window.
-
We are 6 points from 6th and still in the FA Cup. Season is far from over.
-
Krafths contract is almost up.
-
We’ll be back to having no depth.
-
Some of Bournemouths football is fantastic.

I think a lot of people are willing to give the club a lot of credit. IMO it’s shit but seems FFP enforced. It’s good FFP business potentially. That’s the only justification. It’s bad otherwise.
-
I don’t. Let’s just have one week cold turkey and then back to a proper gameweek. This has been slow shit.

Yeh it helps us on the pitch - The following season. Personally I think the club have touted Trippier and Wilson around. Better to lose them than a younger star. I don’t buy that these moves have been initiated by the players. Wilson was just on his pod saying that rotating with Isak is probably better for him than being run into the ground as first choice. He has his finest season last year doing that and he gets goals off the bench which is what England want and need at the euros.
