Crystal Palace 0-0 Newcastle United (21/01/2023)

We had chances but we could've played for anotehr hour and not scored. I don't think we had many big chances. -
The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

We Lack quality in depth. -
It’s too predictable. Multiple rival managers have foreseen and mitigated the inevitable Maxi substitution. we’ve scored 1 goal in 4 games. We’ve not scored a goal with that line-up/formation since Boxing Day. Waited too long. Top teams don’t wait until the last 20 minutes to go for it. Even then today he didn’t play both our strikers. We have nobody that operates in that 10 space. That Odegaard role. And we lack quality from wide which we rely on. It’s a fine balance. This XI hasn’t conceded many and has kept clean sheets in all of those games. Because everyone is hard working and capable runners. But it lacks finesse and it shows.

Don’t know how anyone in professional football can look at this team and think it needs Anthony Gordon. Get ASM on pronto. -
I know you were talking about Guedes. But Atleti are also on the money laundering transfer thing. Plenty of strange transfers in and out of Atleti.
-
This is a very Howe Bournemouth signing imo. Don't like.
-
Thuram doesn't want to come. Danjuma isn't likely to come. We'll likely land another player. Waiting for some news.
-
We do need to replace him. Selling first isn't ideal. If I was a selling club I would make us wait as long as possible and jack up the price. We've got 2 strikers, 1 is injury-prone, the other has recently had a long injury setback. We might have a cup final. We are flush. And should be pushing for a top 4 finish. Can't mess all of that up by not having enough strikers - it's not worth quibbling over £5m-£10m for a quality player. Teams will try and call our bluff.
-
£15m would break-even with FFP right? 2.5 year deal at @£25m - £10m a year FFP amortisation. Sell him with 18 months left on his deal @ £15m - that's break-even right?
-
So a bit of pace and an engine? Decent ability but nothing outstanding. That's all I ever saw in Henderson and Milner at a similar age tbf. Both improved but neither are best as wingers.
-
Not seen any form of talent with Gordon personally. An engine and a little pace.

Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
The College Dropout replied to BeloEmre's topic in Football
Wood has played some minutes in nearly every game this season. He definitely needs replacing. -
Btw I thought Partey was better than Rodri at Atleti. I was wrong but much less wrong than it looked last season. Partey is brilliant.
-
People keep saying Rice could replace Xhaka but they are different types of player (in that system). Not one I think Rice can play. Partey is crucial and they need depth in that position. So maybe and a change of system perhaps.

ARE YOU BLIND?! HE'S ENJOYING GANGSTA RAP AND DANCING!!!

Haven't seen a source that says it's done. Would rather get a replacement in first. TBH I would've kept him until the end of the season, might need him from the penalty spot. Trust the management though - rarely missed. -
Send him to the gulag

Aye. what’s funny is people must think the other reasons I listed are valid. There’s something about confident black players that dance that seems to rub some people up the wrong way and decide something is defective in their character. Pogba, Vini Jr., Lingard for example. It’s not just football, it’s something about the dancing NFL player that riles people up too apparently. This would be valid if people weren’t against a 6-month loan when Murphy and Fraser were due to get plenty of minutes. All while being in a relegation fight. In the summer, we wouldn’t match his very high wages - extremely fair. On the next. People are entitled to not rate him as a player. People are entitled to dislike the lad personally. But as far as I know, he’s never done anything egregious to suggest he’s a bad egg like drink driving, committing assault or owt. And plenty are/were happy to have those characters in the dressing room.

Dances too much. On social media too much. Smiles too much. Not a good coloured. *this is a parody post. I am not being racist.
-
This was it. Lingard had been at the club for over 21 years, from the age of 7. And they blocked a transfer for him for 6 months to spoil a **potential** rival. Disgusting. There's loads of examples of clubs of treating long-serving players with some respect. Petr Cech in the Roman days as one example.

If fully fit, Howe will start Wilson and I think that's the correct decision. Same team from half-time if Bruno is out.
