Do you not think he should have got tighter to Gabbiadini? Think he allowed him too much space personally. Yeh maybe but that goes into penalty territory. He needed help primarily. Gabbiadini bs Manquillo 1v1 like that in the box isn’t favourable to us.
-
Aye he’s in the box the best he can hope for is a block and taking him away from danger area. A better player and he blocks it. A better goalie saves it. But overall he needed more support. Once it’s gome through his legs it’s very difficult.

Aye he’s so shaky from set plays. Apart for a period of 28 months with Krul - all of our keepers in recent memory have had this shortcoming. Likewise all of our keepers in recent memories have poor distribution. The lads that have it all don’t play for Newcastle. Good reflexes / shot stopper Doesn’t drop clangers often Commands area Distribution I think at our budget level unless a genius stroke of a signing the best we can hope for is 2 out of the 4 with being ok at the other 2. None of our goalkeepers are good at more than 1 of those things.

On the ball hs pretty poor man. -
Aye Atsu should've helped out or another player. In the box opp players should be engaged by 2 players so blocks can be made.

While I agree - the stick is OTT. It was weak but Forster was worse for both of our goals. He'll let in soft ones and he needs replacing aye. But he's not the biggest problem in the squad and he wasn't the biggest problem today.

Liked him getting forward when we went with the midfield 3. In general we need to keep the ball a bit better so this is where he'll need to improve.

Vital for both goals... yet I thought he was poor overall. Still a goal and good work for the first is what I want from him at the end of the day. Everytime Tadic or someone dragged Lascelles into a wide position they would deliver a decent ball into the box to be defended. Ayoze got into a fewof those positions and couldn't deliver any quality consistently. Even for the goal VVD got a block on and it was the scrappy good side of Ayoze's game that kept the ball alive for us rather than quality. Looked better after his goal/half time for a bit - seemed to have more belief in the final third. Was that low cross for Joselu after half time? But anyway, he did the business today in front of goal. -

And Lascelles had a big chunk of culpability in the last two goals conceded before today too. the Coutinho goal I wouldn't say he had a big chunk of culpability. It was a poor clearance but we retained possession. The Ritchie clearance was worse still and I wouldn't even say he hada big chunk of culpability. It was a great goal. Lejeune & Clark have dropped absolute clangers though. -

With our lads doing so much defending we'll see more silly mistakes. Won't forget Clark made a shocking mistake in the last game. But can't see Lejeune keeping his place for the next game. -

The tackle was so bad it was a little surreal. -
Aye the way it trickled in was painful. He wasn't even close to it either, can only assume his positioning was awful as well as his agility. Still think the other players should've crowded the shot out.

History would suggest we lose this 1 nil. -
I’ve never seen Andre Gomes have a great game.

Million times better than that bore fest earlier. Aye, the PL and English football in general is too serious. I remember last season Real came back from 2-1 down with 10 men against Barcelona to make it 2-2 I think. 10 men - against Barca. 5 minutes to go, kept pushing for the winner - obviously got hit on the counter and lost it but fucking hell it was fun. But that's the spirit in Spain. Midtable teams play like midtable teams not this rough scramble to 40 points (mostly).
