  1. without playing well we coiuld easily have been 3 or 4 up at halftime. Cisse could and should have had a hat trick in the first half. We weren't brilliant an sat off a bit deep in the 2nd half at times but we've ground out 3 points which is all that matters at the end of the day.
  2. Was our man of the match today in my john humble. broke up play, and kept it simple and flubg himself into 50:50 tackles.
  3. yes it is. Keegans team actually had a very good defensive record and when Man Utd pipped us to the title there wasn't a lot in it in terms of GD. EDIT We only conceded 4 more Goals than man utd did. Dan Gosling

People do seem to forget he's only 20 year old. Mate reckons he's been very good for the reserves where he's playing with kids his own age and that.
  5. he got an assist but otherwise i thought he looked lost and is better wide.
  6. Are you being serious? Do you not know who he is?
  7. it's a different game from down there. when you sit higher up you slag players off for poor control etc but from pitch level you see how quick it it all is and that poor control was actually bouncing all over the place. I used to sit in the front row. I'd have to re watch the game on match of the day to see what actually happened for 90% of the play. Fun though. Which is why i hate sitting low down or behind the goal. I like being side on high up in Level 7 (before they built level 7 i sat in the very back row of the milburn with only exec boxes behind me.) as you can see everything including the touchline on the opposite side of the pitch which you haven't a cat in hells chance of seeing from low down.
  8. 32 years ago today since the petrol bomb sailed out of the new stand paddock and into the icf yet my only really vivid memory of the day (other than the flames) is a stampede down bath lane and waterloo street after the match to marlborough crescent bus station of people wanting to get away out of town.
  9. To be fair to Pardew, HBA himself said last week that after his injury he didn't have the relish for playing anywhere and had fell out of love with playing football.
  10. Ye kna the crack. "We love Shola, he went to our school" FFS, Don Hutchison went to our school and he's hardly a glowing endorsement of a one club player.
  11. But Pardews lack of faith in him is the reason he havent been playing. Patting him on the back while giving Obertan the keys to the car isn`t good management. Its like giving giving kidnappers credit for giving the victim water and food. Bottom line is that keeping Ben Arfa out of the squad up until now seeing what he can offer, is in many ways the same howler the tevez and mascherano benching turned out to be. We have been robbed of this for half a year, and that is down to bad management. Pardew gets alot of stick on here it seems, some just, some unjust. But when it comes to Ben Arfa, he deserves criticism. Ben Arfa had a career threatening injury followed by a further break down after being walloped in pre season with what looked like another career threatening injury. I think Pardew has handled it pretty well and eased him back very very carefully.
  12. Sounds exactly like when we drew 2-2 with them the last time they were in the premiership. When in his post match interview upon being questioned about the bid the club had just made for Wayne Rooney, Craig Bellamy replied "well i'll have to consider my position here at this club if that's the case". Alan Shearer interviewed 5 minutes afterwards about the same thing burst out laughing when told that was what Bellamy had said.
  13. We miss Leon Best, he holds it up and does the donkey work and Ba sticks it in the net.
  14. After Hoillet took a ridiculous dive to try and win a penalty against us at Blackburn away, would you have wanted us to put the ball out of play if he appeared injured later in the game ? I know you've probably answered that already. If he genuinely appeared injured then yes, but obviously it's harder to believe that if a player's always rolling around. In that case he's brought it on himself by cheating earlier. If you're gonna win anything you've got to have a mean streak. We are too nice and last night and against WBA, both games we lost, we were sporting and the opposition who won weren't.
  15. We'll win nowt for being sporting.
  16. Does that mean it was the right thing to do? yes it is the right thing to do. You play to the whistle and let the referee decide whether the game stops or not.
  17. Prime example. 1st half we had a great chance to get at their 18 yard box but stopped and put the ball out of play because of their players was injured on the halfway line. Injury time Danny Simpson gets fouled and is injured and they go forward and score. EDIT : Jonas did the exact same thing when we were in against WBA as well before christmas. It's very sporting but also shite.
  18. Really? Barring 3 or 4 games this season I think he's been top notch both defensively and from an attacking point of view. Granted, yesterday he was very poor and Perchy did well when he came on. He's looked good running with the ball going forward but he can't defend and is terribly right footed for someone being asked to play left back.
  19. Santon was gash, Perch played well and meant Jonas could get forward more without having to cover for Santon.
  20. Marveaux's actually been a big miss for me all season. Crafty little player, left footed, good even play with Cabaye and Tiote in a middle three IMO. Without wanting to sound sarky or anything but how can he have been a big miss when he wasn't really there in the first place? Need a win, performance probably needed as well to boost confidence but really it doesn't matter we just need a win.
  21. I thought he did okay, won pretty much every header and the goal was more about RVP being very good than Williamson being poor. He shouldn't be first choice mind, but obviously injuries and lack of cover have dictated that.
  22. My point being i'd have preferred him to play in the central/free role and Obertan to have played wide right. Obertan should have been hauled off after half an hour after his aimless wandering around doing fuck all. Instead Pardew was as usual quick to take off an actual footballer in Santon because he had the temerity to cross the halfway line with the ball. Santon was Gash. Perch did much better.
  23. My point being i'd have preferred him to play in the central/free role and Obertan to have played wide right.
  24. Can i just put a little dampener on proceeedings. He had a good game and did what he was in the team to do which was to pull a rabbit out of the hat with a cracking goal. However, it was noticeable afterwards that he was forced outside onto his right foot a lot and he clearly doesn't have a right foot. (They did the same to Jonas mind on the other side). Is right wing therefore really the best place to play him??
