  1. No square pegs in round holes. As little change as injuries allow, no sentiment, play 4-4-2, play they way we know and get after them and give them a game. If we get hammered at least get hammered trying to win the game rather than getting hammered after doing a TCA and playing for a 0-0 draw.
  2. My mate texted me after the game saying our young uns had chased their youngs across the car park before being rounded up and put on the metro.
  3. I'm 99% positive it's less than 11 months since i last saw him around here on the drink like but time does tend to fly. Most alcoholics know how many days exactly they've been sober for, not a vague about 11 months.
  4. Aye.They weren't allowed to be worn when your team was on telly either (days prior to their being cameras at every ground and no live football other than the FA Cup final and European Cup Final).
  5. England beating Spain has given me renewed and dillusional hope for this one!
  6. Slight flaw in your post is that your uni mate is from NI. Come on you must know that place is divided on where their allegiances lie. Aye, makes no sense to me mind, if your from NI your from NI. if your from Eire you're from Eire, end of. Many don't consider Northern Ireland to exit and they live in a united Ireland. You can't just dismiss that by saying "end of". Not really interested in whether some people think it exists or not as i don't think politics and sport should get mixed up. A quick look at a map says it does exist and has a football team representing it so if you live there or were born and bred there than that's your country and who you should be supporting.
  7. i honestly do not think Pardew has favourites, he is one of those rare managers who picks players on current form. hi shands have been tied slightly due to lack of numbers though. Each to his own mind, i hate the cunt.
  8. Tomorrow? They played tonight man and France scraped a 1-0 win.
  9. PMSL Shola is a crock of shit and Ben Arfa is struggling to regain fitness after a career threatening injury. had he not got injured he'd have got more than ample opportunities to show what he can do and would (in my john humble) edged ahead of both of those.

  11. I really like the guy and I respect him a lot. I'd prefer it if he finished his career as a Newcastle United player especially after being at the club for such a long time and being one of our longest serving players. I also still see him as a decent enough number 2 for us. Blind loyalty from my part if you want. But I suppose that from his point of view, he doesn't have long left in his career, so ending it on a high (ie. being number 1 at another club) is the best thing for him to do. I fail to see why anyone would get sentinmental about someone so over confident and under talented who was quite happy to sit on his fat arse for varnigh 20 years and pick up a good wedge for f*** all. He did try and leave but Sir Bobby didn't want him to and from my understanding, Harper was offered a wage higher than the average back up keeper would make. When Shay did get injured, Harper didn't do a bad of job as his understudy. But I especially took a liking to him when we were in the Championship, he was safe hands for me back then. He has been here for ages too and that adds to my sentiment for some reason. Each to their own why they like/not like Harper I suppose. Never understood the dislike for Harper, him staying put meant we didn't have to go out trying to sign a back up keeper and we always had a solid keeper on the bench ready to step up when required. We will be lucky to have that now. When you see some of the back up keepers at some clubs, even the big clubs (Taibi, Hilario anyone?) then you appreciate how lucky we have been, imo. I've had a skinful, but even when sober have not got a good word to say about him. hated the over confident arms out wide stance watching a shot just go over or just go wide and occasionly (kenny Miller for Derby anyone) go in after a desperate last second dive. If he had had anything about him he would have either gone on loan or gone permanently a long time ago.
  12. Sammy Ameobi being given a chance after impressing suggests otherwise and suggests Pardew will play the young uns rather than just falling back on the likes of Smith like Hughton would have done. he was being bigged up before he got injured and had enjoyed a decent pre season. he'd have got a few opportunities if it wasn't for his injury, but like i said it would have been like Sammy from the bench.
  13. Shame he hasn't had a sniff, but with our form and the way Guthrie has stepped up since Tiote's injury it's understandable. Ferguson too. Hopefully, if we're sufficiently covered when Tiote goes to ACoN, he will get a chance to be loaned out to Wigan or something. Get some experience playing alongside Diame He has had a sniff though. Played well pre season and then at Scunthorpe earning him a place on the bench. Came on as sub and broke his arm within 5 minutes of coming on. If he'd not got injured he'd have played a fair bit this season, albeit from the bench.

  16. It's only half time, they haven't qualified yet. Well Estonia are missing 4 players who they deemed starting 11 tonight. You think they have a chance of winning by 5 goals in Dublin? Did you expect us to recover from 4 nil down at half time to Arsenal last season? Would it have happened at the Emirates? who knows, you look like your through, but you've still got to play another 90 minutes yet and anything could happen. An early goal and early sending off and who knows.

  18. Still want Harper to finish his career here tbh. wtf for? he's happily sat on his arse and picked up a decent wage for donkeys years for doing nowt and being nothing more than mediocre when played.

  20. By lad the FA are splashing out.
  21. Barry's contribution is vastly under rated in my john humble.
  22. Fuck them. Pissed on the region and done a runner. Exactly what I was thinking. It's not even brewed here any more, everything changes. Exactly. Made such a song and dance about getting EU protected rights for the name and then cancelled them and pissed off to Nottingham.
  23. Hope they get hammered in both legs and Given drops a right rick in them doing so.
  24. I don't know anyone who calls the Leazes End The Sir John Hall Stand.
