If we took the League Cup and FA Cup a bit more seriously that would put money in the coffers just the same. LC and FA cup are a bot of a lottery though, UEFA is pretty much a guaranteed £5m cos its so pish easy to get through the groups But the games in the UEFA have all the excitement of a pre season friendly and they also mean major disruption to our league games as many of them are moved to sundays due to playing a pub team on a thursday night. Give it a miss for one year and have a proper crack at winning the League Cup or FA Cup and have a proper undisrupted pre season.

Give Europe a miss to consolidate at home and rebuild. Pointless playing a load of shit games in the uefa cup and then get beat off the first decent team we face every time.
-
Got it in one. It also means that if you get through those qualifiers you then play another load of meaningless games against a load of shit teams in the round robin league format of the UEFA Cup. All games that have very little atmosphere and more potential for injuries etc. We'd be better off giving europe a miss for a year and building towards to winning a domestic trophy or regaining a top 4 spot and therefore entry into the CL where the games are a bit more competitive and against better oppo.

I've been told Edgar isn't a popular chap at the club, but have not been told the specific reasons why. He's gone in the summer, definately.

Three hard and tricky decisions this summer will decide the next 3/5yrs.

Roeder steadied the ship last season but has been shown up this season. He should have gone after Alkmaar imo, they were there for the taking and he sent the team out to try and draw 0-0. We don't have a creative midfielder who can unlock a defence with a killer ball. I leave well alone with Martins and Owen, if we have to sell anyone it'd be Ameobi as he is gash. -
Stephen Carr and his missus & kids at dinnertime today in Eldon Square. He's a miserable bastard and she's very pretty and cheerful. Oba Martins at dinnertime today in Fenwicks. He's little and looks older than 22. Loads of others at various times over the years.

I read elsewhere that there were 9000 tickets left for the Chelsea v Blackburn tie. To be fair to Blackburn, it is a small town with a population of 90,000 so they are never going to have massive support. And again to be fair to both Watford and Blackburn, they are rank outsiders and the kick off times are shit as well.

The only bad report i've heard was from Robbie Fowler. In competitive games i'm sure SGE has the best record of ANY England manager including Sir Alf Ramsey. SGE Was a very succesful club manager and would also be the type of high profile figurehead who would attract players to the club.

He's only copying what Fat Stan Seymour did for a load of Newcastle fans stranded in Swansea in 1983 man. Typical mackem, 24 years too late.
-
He is utter gash and should not be offered a contract. Weak as piss when rolled over by a Charlton player at the weekend. No better than what we have and if we are to buy someone the minimum must be that they are better than what we have already.

What, for you, has been Newcastle's WORST Premiership season?
ujpest doza replied to Keefaz's topic in Football
I've read the title of this thread again and again and again and it does NOT specify premier League, it simply says what has been newcastle Worst season but then goes on to only list the seasons that the Sky Boys know about. Total Gash i'm afraid, because if anyone told me on Easter Monday 1992 that we would have such a prolonged and exhilirating run of years in the top flight i would have laughed at them and ordered a pint of whatever it was they had been drinking. -
a blind, one-legged dwarf is better than bramble i'd like for us to sign gooch permanently! a blind, one-legged dwarf is better than bramble i'd like for us to sign gooch permanently! who for? the eagles?

He's fucking gash and is no better than Bramble or Taylor.

Toss up between 1988/89 relegated and 1991/92 just saved from relegation to div 3 by the skin of our teeth. Ever season since 1991/92 has been fantastic in comparison and has usually had something to cheer. Amongst that lot mind i'd plump for 2000/01 when we were pretty poor and uninspiring. -
Shola is gash and has not been missed in the slightest.
-
Agree, but when we signed Duff we hadn't signed Martins and a centre forward was at the time the main priority.
-
We wondering why we were spending £5M on a player who plays in a position that didn't appear to need strengthening while dithering over buying a replacement for Shearer.
-
As much as i think Gary Neville has been an excellent full back for man Utd and England, i wouldn't be particularly impressed if we were to sign him. We should be looking at (and i think Roeder is) players either on the way up or at the top of their game, not players who are coming tot he end of their careers. And to the kid who said Neville is the best Right back this country has ever had, get real eh?, very good for man utd, steady but best right back ever to play for England? What about Sir Alf Ramsey? Or George Cohen? Or Phil Neal even?
-
Couldn't beat an egg and has no right foot whatsoever so is fucked when defenders force him inside onto his right.

Cracking post and spot on. Personally think that Les Ferdinand also has a bit a of a chip on his shoulder re issues like this and should look at the likes of Viv Anderson,Brendan Batson and Cyrille Regis who have made succesful careers for themselves after hanging up their boots without bleating about being hard done to. Anderson and Regis having brief managerial careers before becoming agents and Batson as a successful frontman for the PFA.They suffered a heel of a lot more racism than Crooks or Ferdinand ever did and proved with talent and hard work the rewards are there.

Part of the problem is that black players who want to become managers have seen the barriers, and consequently don't even bother doing the courses. So, you'll probably find that they are under represented there. Its called hard work and taking a chance, huge barrier everyone faces, the race card is an easy way out as they simply cant be arsed. Are you saying that black people are lazy? Are you a Black Lesbian Vegan?
-
The thing is though, if 2% of football managers in the uk are black then that fits in with the fact that 2% of the UK population is black according to the last census blowing his moan out of the water. http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=273 Statistics are good, but should be used with caution. The number of black people relative to white people in the UK is irrelevant in this context. It is the number of black people relative to white people in football which is important since this is the population from which managers are hired. Is it f***. The population they are hired from is the UK population and 2% of the UK population are Black. Colour is irrelavent anyway, if you're good enough you're good enough, if you're not you're not. So, how many managers are from outside the football world? Jose Mourinho was a translator for starters and Gerard Houlier was a teacher. Its a stupid attention seeking arguement from one of the biggest pricks in the media. I really couldn't give a shit if a football manager is Black, White, Brown, Yellow, Irish, French or Argentinian, it doesn't fucking matter.

Utter bullshit. Read the comment below yours. You watch too much PC-sponsored "Institutional racism" crap churned out by the BBC, chum. Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't watch TV. Instead I analyse available information, and the conclusions are clear: institutional racism is prevalent in all parts of society. To believe that it doesn't exist in football, which is renowned for its racism, is delusional. In other words you spend all of your time looking for racism in anything and everything and believe that the whole world is a seething mass of white supremicists? Institutional Racism my arse.
