Other clubs' transfer deadline day discussion
La Parka replied to GeordieDazzler's topic in Football
Another signing I've never heard of. FM legend isn't he? Yeah. I think Sven has been playing FM2007 in his time off. Bianchi is god on it! -
Hit the nail on the head. I couldn't give a crap about prices, it's the quality of players we're (apparently) chasing. Gradually we're after poorer players and that's reason for concern in my book. Are we struggling to attract the players necessary to improve us? Is there no money in the kitty? Why are we looking at midtable players like Young and Queudrue? Young and Queudrue would be very much like the signings of Babayaro and Carr. Indeed. I've said this before and got attacked for it, but I'd like us to at least be linked with some younger players whose best days are in front of them, not behind them. Rather take the risk on them than extremely average players in their late 20s. To be fair though I'd rather we had a decent squad right now then we can bring in the "potential" players. Oh, agreed. I'd like us to finish getting a decent squad sorted first too, but at the same time I'd like us to bring in some "potential" players in the same way Liverpool do. Liverpool can attract these players due to: 1) Having a high quality squad 2) Having successive top 4 finishes 3) Always in europe with success. Something we lack atm. Eh? I'm was thinking more of all these young Hungarian/Bulgurian/Spanish/Italian etc etc teenagers. Not the likes of Babel, Torres etc. Liverpool perhaps weren't the best example and I suppose I'm being pretty unfair on Big Sam atm, but still. Just a link with 1 or 2 "potential" players would be nice, at some point during this window (not expecting them now). I knew what you meant Mel. Liverpool recently brought a clutch of about 6 young players to the club from here, there and everywhere. Chances are that they'll have a look at them and sell them on but there might just be a Fabregas or a Toure in amongst that lot. I think they're taking their lead from Wenger who's been doing this for a few years now and he's found some cracking players. I'd love us to do the same. Sorry I misunderstood. I reckon Sam should get out FM! Get Martial Riff in!

SAY WHAT?!!! I agree. Also I can't see the problem with Quedrue. We need a LB, he has premiership experience and he is not baba.
-
My friend has a scholarship in America (a degree is sports science) he also plays collegiate "soccer". He reports that the players he plays with were every bit as good as what he was used to in the UK. Small story I know but who is to say.
-
Yes and no. Maybe just maybe Sam could get him playing.
-
Quality. Shame he is such a tit.
-
No we wouldn't. It's July. We would have sold Milner to get him under Roeder.
-
Pity he's a fatty too. Didn't stop Brolin..
-
Awesome Username! lol. I think we will spend big in Jan. I certainly wouldn't throw money at us straight away.
-
Remember Coco who turned up smoking!
-
Fair enough.
-
5-10m I can see Duscher (free) Experienced CB (~2m) LB (bulk of money)

Good Effort Nobby

I don't think we are trying to attract anyone to this club "from the position of 13th place". There is no one involved in buying new players (owner / manager / directors etc) who was involved last season. Even Freddy Shepherds temporary role is irrelevant, as he is off ill. Everyone, who may be joining us, knows that this is a totally different club, and that last season has no real relevance to anything at all - for the future. It will become even easier 'after we have achieved' , but it is still nothing like as bad now, as the statement "from the position of 13th place" implies! Okay, 13th place sounds a bit negative, and we're competing well for players with everyone outside the top four. But we're not in a position to turn our noses up at a player like Hoyte. Of course we are! Were really not. We are not the team or prospect half the board seem to think we are we have fallen into the mid table teams like Blackburn and Villa. We are behind Everton, Spurs and possibly Pompey.

2007 tbh.
-
Agree. We need a stable season to put ourselves back among the top 8. I don't care how much money we have I just want a season which we can build on to head for Europe.
-
To be fair I'd rather we built a stable squad with depth than fanny about with big name signings right now. We were 3 points off relegation. I know the circumstances have changed a lot this summer but I see no harm in bringing in depth. But you're not imporving on your first team, if you want to do that and add depth you bring in a better player than what you've got and push the starting player down to the bench. I think in this case its more a case of a different option for the manager. We finished low for many reasons but IMO Butt was one of the reasons we stayed up. I think I can agree with your statement if we were talking about Baba for example.

All the top clubs try to buy the title. It was classic last year, Man Utd fans saying how they beat the Chelsea money, Rio,Carrick & Roon cost about £80million alone. Man U have spent at least £55m this window haven't they? Liverpool have spent ~ £40m Chelsea have spent ~ £14m -

And Man Utd, which is what most seem to be rating him from rather than watching him with their own 2 eyes. Hypocrite. How? Basing it on a few forum comments than what you've seen yourself. Can you read?! I've said I've seen him play and that he's average, he wouldn't improve the team and is technically awful. I haven't even read the comments from the Spanish site Ohmelads is talking about but I'd listen to their opinions as they sit in the stadium and watch him, also living in Spain they will have a better feel for the general opinion of the player. How is that similar to people rating him without never seeing him play but presume he must be good because he was linked with Man Utd? 1.Once? 2.They usually end up less than half of their capacity in the stadium so i doubt it. Who said Once? I think you're clutching at straws here, I've seen him play well into double figures on tv, which is what most on that forum are basing their opinions on. Point 2 seems a bit desperate too tbh, if they average gates of 25,000 then chances are a good few of them on their main board go to games and watch them. Question, Do you think he's better than Nicky Butt? If yes, why? Sure you have mate Deportivo have been on Sky about 10 times in the last 3 years so i don't see how you've seen him that many times, do i think he's better than Nicky Butt? i think he's got a lot more to offer considering he's got age on his side and the main question is, do you think he would be a good addition to the squad and my answer is yes. Nice attempt at trying to rubbish someone's opinion Alberto, Depotivo have been on Sky plenty of times over the past 3 years, considering they show on average 3 La Liga games every weekend they would have to go out of their way to avoid showing Deportivo if they could only manage to show them 10 times in that period, add to that the time I was sat in the lower tier of the Leazes when Deportivo played us in the Intertoto I'd say I've seen plenty of him. So you think he's got more to offer than Butt? Like what exactly apart from age? Why don't you dazzle us with your knowledge of the bloke and tell us what exactle he's got to offer us. They show Barcelona and Real almost every week. I suggest you keep quiet and comment on players you actually know about Yeh, it always helps if he actually plays, his game is very simple like most defensive midfielders, he wins it and gives, short passes and is very effective especially in a 4-5-1 formation, i never doubted Butt's ability i was merely outlining that signing Aldo Duscher would be a good addition to the team, i stand by that. Agree 100%
