  1. Maybe he’s just someone who isn’t/wasn’t massively into football. It’s allowed. Bit different from someone who’s life is half dominated by football changing teams.
  2. He’s not working miracles like. We’ve got many players we’ve spent £40m plus on and have internationals from many of the top nations. I’d say it’s about par in the league given we don’t have Europe. We had a really average start, an exceptional run, and have been pretty average again for the last 5 games. If you think he’s working miracles it would be interesting to know where you’d expect us to be given our team/squad. I’m not anti-Howe and I want him to stay as I see him as the best person manage us, but there’s no point exaggerating or ignoring things that we need to improve on.
  3. PSG? It was before the Milan game which ended up mattering. Southampton were shite, as were Sunderland. The survival games were years ago. I did try and separate big games with the season defining type games, but you clearly just ignored that. I’m not including early round cup ties or league games in the middle of the season, regardless of who they’re against. I’m meaning the chips are down and you achieve something type games.
  4. Everyone’s batting aside Man Utd and Spurs. They’re bottom half teams.
  5. Don’t agree with that. There’s big games like today, then there’s big games like Cup Finals and end of season games to achieve something. We’ve been pretty poor in a lot of the big games for me. Milan (h), Man Utd at Wembley, Man Utd (a) last season, draw with Leicester in a frightened performance to qualify for the CL which thankfully was just enough. You can point at a few outliers like Arsenal a couple weeks back, but I still think there’s a concern about the mentality in the big games.
  6. Mentality of this group of players needs questioned. Something you couldn’t do a couple of years back, but the difference between a good Newcastle performance, and the turgid lackluster performances like this is unacceptable. Can’t just rely on the crowd to get them up for it.
  7. Apologies if I’m being stupid or missing something obvious, but if he’s on the cup scheme why would you be buying him a ticket for games? I thought everyone on the cup scheme just had their payment taken automatically for each game.
  8. Probably. Ha. I was in the lower tier and stood. Tbh, the view was pretty shit. Pros and cons.
  9. There’s surely won’t be many left after this pot. You’d think most people in the queue are buying for others too. My mates getting them for 6 of us in this pot and he’s sitting around 9000.

    Football podcasts

I remember going to watch them in the away end at Livi with Burley in charge. Vlad was in the crowd and Hearts had 3 of the stands. Not sure how far it was into the run but they won 4-0
  11. I couldn’t get energised about people complaining of losing loyalty points they picked up years ago. Me and my mates used to go all over 15-20 years ago as you could get tickets for nearly every away game as a member. Didn’t pick up a loyalty point between us. It’s so complex now, it’s hard to think of anything that the club would do that wouldn’t get some people angry. Can totally understand the anger of many who feel stuck though, and occasions like a cup final has to cause upset when you think you’ve got no chance.

I don’t think it’s bad for them to provide a twice yearly update tbh.
  13. 6:52 train from Edinburgh to Euston on the Saturday getting in around lunch time and a couple nights in the Hilton. Could do with an outdoor drinking area and some cans the amount already spent. 😂 Id like to think no issues with a ticket being on the cup scheme and having come down from Scotland for each round.

    St James' Park

I do agree with that, but I also think there’s been a change in the general culture. Even if clubs hadn’t started to focus on older people with money and families, I doubt it would be like it was back then.

    St James' Park

I think the cultures changed a bit too tbf, so it’s not all down to being priced out.

It’s not even just about trying to catch up with those above, it’s about not standing still and then being left behind.

    St James' Park

I think our posts overlapped. I wouldn’t consider it a senseless argument, but I don’t think any football ground stays the same. We, and any other football club will move on at some point so expecting something to just stay the same is delaying the inevitable. We’re going to have to do something at some point with the stadium, so what’s the point in being left behind until it’s almost forced on us? My first game was 1993 and the East Stand is the only one anywhere near similar to what it was then. What we have isn’t exactly historic beyond its location. It’s a late 90s stadium with a small bit from the 70s that nobody seems to like, and it’s too small and out of date already. Has there even been a period as long as the last 25/26 years where nothing has progressed at SJP or most other stadiums?

    St James' Park

Well you must have a reason for wanting the stadium to stay as it is.

What are your reasons, then we can judge.
  20. Why do some people get so precious about others discussing the football?
  21. The lack of in game management is concerning. When we aren’t performing, it just seems that we plough on without any adjustments, until panic stations of course. Miley should have been on far earlier and Botman should be starting every game when fit.

It’s a tough listen. Shearers questions are awful.
