  1. he's the least favoured on mine, he's beginning to read a lot like Pardew from the articles i've looked at In what way ? His tactics, concentrating on defending with midfielders, playing strikers out of position etc, Lacazette was used wide last season quite a bit and much less effective, this year with Garde gone he has been used more as a striker with much more effect (highest scorer in lique 1 i think) They were much more of a threat for the League when he was assistant but when he jumped up to head coach they seem much less of a threat this article mentions sitting back and inviting pressure and also playing with much more defensive tactics http://frenchfootballweekly.com/2013/04/28/olympique-lyonnais-the-tactical-debrief/ Aye, don't like the sound of the negative tactics mentioned in that article, however it also says he's a intelligent, knowledgeable, likeable man, which sounds like Pardews exact opposite. Even a likeable manager who can implement defensive tactics effectively and actually have the brains to work out a real game plan and tactics still sounds great compared to the shit we've been putting up with. Maybe not my first choice, but right now I'd still jump at the chance to get him considering what Ashley may end up choosing instead. I mean Tuchel sounds great, but if that's not happening I'd still be extremely happy with Garde.
  2. Guess that might be one sticking point, but although it may stop someone coming in to take over with a huge amount of shares, the profit the club makes would bring in buyers surely ? Maybe, but at a far lower buying price than you would get with possible lucrative sponsorship open to negotiate from new buyers. Any owner with would look at the kind of sponsorship money going around the Premier League and how its growing and drastically downgrade what they're willing to pay. Unless we're talking purely about the stadium adds and not shirts as well? In which case it wouldn't be quite as extreme a sticking point, but still would have a reasonably significant effect on what people are willing to pay.
  3. I mean looking at a strictly business stand point, I don't see how he couldn't just sign up long term management (of Retail through SD) and sponsorship or naming (with SD) on long term contracts, with high liquidated damages / termination costs and make them assumable contracts per float/sale of the club. I've seen similar done in different circumstances in the hotel industry - however buyers discount those long term contracts and your "buyer" pool diminishes drastically -- no upside or flexibility there. Who would then buy the club given they can't do anything with sponsorship ect?
  4. They're absolutely desperate to believe this is a great appointment, anything that suggests otherwise is ignored. They're basically just putting their hands over their ears and screaming "Nah nah nah can't here you" while grinning inanely.
  5. What the fuck that's a straight red all day! EDIT: Coquelin in the Arsenal game that is.
  6. I forgot that everyone hear don't actually watch games like, how could we possibly know how Ben Arfa played. Should just accept whatever anyone behind the scenes decides even if they are mongs like Pardew and Bruce because no doubt we as fans aren't qualified to judge a players performance or effect on our team Get a fucking grip man you sound like a total sheep. What is it that you think every club needs BTW? People who run around a lot and produce fuck all like Gouffran?, is that not playing with 10 men?
  7. I'd prefer Yanga-Mbiwa, unfortunately Pardew still managed to fuck recruitment up at some level even without control of who was coming in.
  8. At the moment absolutely. But imagine what it would be like with everything else the same (Ashley's a cunt and we're going nowhere) except we don't have Perez, Sissoko, Janmaat ect We have Darren Bent, Hayden Mullens and James Tomkins
  9. Virtually rules out all of the proposed British names, does it not? As a nation we still struggle with the concept of a manager having no say whatsoever on the players he has to work with. It's also viewed as a bad thing as well which I find laughable really. It's the logical way to work IMO, it gives you the best chance of stability. Spending millions building a squad around a manager that will only be in the job for a few years, then having to rebuild again, is really quite silly. It's not just seen as bad either, alot of people(and the media) are repulsed by the idea. I'm not so sure, after all if the transfers brought in are total s*** it ain't the director of football or whatever who loses his job its the manager burdened with those players he had 0 say on (see Spurs last season in particular, AVB gets the sack for the failure to spend the Bale money right while the guy who bought all those players is still there). Personally I think the manager should have a say in who goes in and out to just ignore him as Ashley will isn't a good way to run things at all. Manager should of course get an input I don't think anyone would disagree with that. What I'm referencing is managers bringing in their own players who they've worked with everywhere without a thought for the long term. which is a natural reaction to the very short term nature of a managers job, the moment things go slightly wrong instead of trying to let a guy work through the bad period the sack button is hit so he's obviously going to go for guys he knows and trusts. I ultimately believe football clubs employ managers for their football knowledge and to trust them to run the first team either they back that with his list of players to get or why are they employing him in the first place? We trust you to run the first team except who your signing? I can definitely see the advantage of the system, it can be refined until you find the right people. If you have one man in charge of everything and you think recruitment is crap but motivation/tactics are good then how do you change one without the other? If you go for the head coach/director of Football kind of system both parties should have input. The head coach wants player type A, so the recruitment team work on bringing that kind if player in. If there's a problem you then need to decide where that problem lies. Are the players coming in not good enough?, are the tactics wrong ect. If you have people working at the club who can do that then its a good system. It allows you to change certain things that you believe are going wrong without necessarily having to start all over again from scratch. Of course the people in charge here don't really have a clue so it really limits the system. Still there's no denying that had Pardew had control over recruitment we'd be absolutely up shit creek right now.
  10. Apparently 4 or 5 first teamers got injured all of a sudden
  11. Expect at least a few good months for Palace until Pardewism really sets in.
  12. RE Hoddle perhaps he's just not as desperate for any job going as the likes of Pardew/Redknapp/Curbishley ect? Who knows, hard to believe he's just unemployable considering some of the shit that keep getting Preectr League jobs.
  13. Everyone seems to be forgetting the most important thing here when talking about players returning, and thats Krul coming back.. With any decent keeper in goal we'd have beaten Burnley.
  14. Surely that goes totally against the aim of dropping fan expectations?

Never expected anything to improve with Carver in charge, only advantage is not having to see or here Pardew anymore, which to be fair is wonderful in itself. But we can at least dream that Carver won't be given the job as well I suppose.
  16. The bold part I don't agree with. Some talented players didn't work out but that's to be expected. Most of the time the cream has risen to the top. My biggest personal gripe with Pardew was the quality of football but I don't expect to have a Swansea like system in place for the next manager. We seem very light in the coach department and I can't see that changing while Ashley is here. Personally - Pardew is a snake but I don't really care. There's no genuine hope until we have rid of Ashley and have an owner that wants our team to succeed. Well I've certainly never seen a mid to lower placed Premier League team loan someone out to be a first teamer for a team fighting for the title in Serie A (and competing in the Champions League). The bloke grinds the life out of some players and ostracise's some of the rest. A few who are very good and can stand his shit (or the single striker he actually allows to attack without strict defensive duties) can still perform. But generally he either kills talent or forcibly removes it.
  17. Well at least if it is Advocaat and he's shit there's no way he can be here for ages, a two and a half year contract would take him in to his 70s
  18. If I believed for a second that we could ever finish near 5th again under the prick I'd agree it was not that bad overall. But its very clear that the 5th finisb was a one off before he really started to stamp his shitness on everyone. Since then our average position in the league based on total points is 15th or something isn't it? (or was it 13th?, either way shit). Even if we accept that the attitude towards cups from above means things there can't improve that doesn't just leave us with league results. There's a hell of a lot more to hate about Paradew than just poor league finishes, almost too much to name. Yeah Ashley probably will continue to sell our best players, but we'll also continue to bring good players in as well. Can the next manager ruin as many of them?, he'll struggle to beat Pardews record. OK, everyone is worried to some degree that our next manager will be shit. I just find it hard to really be scared of the future when it includes at least some hope now, hope isn't a word you can even contemplate under the king.

Done a Pardew like job so far, let's see if it continues with the usual Chelsea away capitulation.
  20. As far as league finishes go it was one very good season, one very bad, two bare minimum acceptable. But like everyone here knows the problem isn't simply league position given the squad he has. For a start he actively worsens the squad available. I don't see it as a genuine concern personally. I mean ok I suppose you could say I'm concerned we might get another s*** manager but not in the respect that I'm worried he'll be even worse than keeping king cretin or even as bad. Even the worst manager would be no worse result wise but hard pressed to be as odious and intolerable to watch. You spent a couple sentences to just agree with me. Just in the league - we could do worse. Definitely. I'm not agreeing though, like I just said IMO the worst manager wouldn't do any worse results wise. My only concern is how much better the replacement will be, not if he might be worse. Just my opinion, nothing can really concern me anymore after 4 years of Pardew.
  21. When Paul Merson starts taking the words right out of your mouth its really time to take stock and realise you couldn't be more wrong They'll learn though and its going to be painful, well deserved!
