  1. Anyone know what the article says exactly? How certain is the source?
  2. You'd think that article was written by The King himself considering the amount of times his name is mentioned. Seriously how the fuck is he a journalist?

I never thought I'd see those words Wickham still hasn't proved himself in the Premier League......In fact most of the time he's been dire Well you might not think he's been great but his goal scoring record last season was infinitely better than Borini. I know that doesn't mean he's a better player, but goals are important and he scored 7 in 14 games (5 of those in the league), he undoubtedly played a very big part in keeping you up and as others have said he's still very young.

Think he'll get somewhere around 15, only because I seriously doubt he'll play much more than 30 games.
  5. He said the players we're now signing, he didn't say every play we've ever signed under Ashley going back to when he first bought the club.
  6. Jesus some of the comments are tragic as well
  7. Not a chance the Carroll stories are true.

Says more about our manager than out midfield options, but yeah we should be going for him at that price.
  9. Bayern only sell 10,000 season tickets? Obviously there attendance is like 70k per week, I'd have thought they'd sell at least 40k as season tickets.

They'll be stretching their squad if they're going to have a real go in all 4 competitions though. Can't see him starting in their 'big' games but I bet he appears in most of their games next season either from the start or off the bench. They may play 60+ games next season. I'd be surprised if he manages more than half those games, not necessarily because they don't select him but because he's guaranteed to be injured at some point.

Spending no money see. can't buy/too expensive/wont'e be held to ransom See I get that Ashley is a total prick but this kind of thing just leaves me scratching my head. Does he want to unsettle players in order to get them cheap or does he celebrate when they don't want to come so he doesn't have to sign anyone?

  13. Would be a great signing, though I suppose they'd be no better off as a team than last year, worse really if he's the only major signing. Much better off then they'd be if they didn't get him back though I suppose.

Think he can get 25 goals if he went all season injury free, but I'd put money on now that he'll be out injured for a bit this season. Going to guess he'll play 30 games and score 15 goals.

Aye because we scored loads without him, the goals are gonna fly in this season no need to worry at all. We've more creativity in midfield now with Cabella & De Jong, along with Rivière and hopefully 1 more incoming striker of quality I'm not overly concerned about the loss of Remy. Just me? Definitely need that 1 striker target though. I hate to break it you but De Jong isn't creative, he makes great runs and scores goals but he's not a creative player. Think of him as someone like Michu although whether he makes as big as impact on the league as the Spaniard did is yet to be seen. Cabella is the only creative one there and you are losing Ben Arfa and Cabaye. In no shape, way or form do we have more creativity in midfield now, we may have more goals but not creativity. I agree if we get a quality striker in who can guarantee 15 league goals then i wouldn't be so concerned about the loss of Remy, but i dunno about you but i have zero confidence in the club getting that player in. Ben Arfa was barely involved in the side you're talking about. The sick fact is we lost Ben Arfa a long time before this coming season

Just not bothered really, glad his future is going to be settled soon so we can move on and focus on other players.
  17. And yet last season he played well and got dropped, came on in later games and gave the few sparks we had in attack, utter bollocks imo. He had 'moments' of brilliance when he came on but it was no where near his potential. Which was the frustrating thing - Imagine what a fit Ben Arfa could have done. I would agree but i don't think he's that unfit, which is really my stance on it. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that. I never thought he looked fit since he came back from his hamstring injury. I agree Pardew has managed him horrendously bad as he clearly is a player who needs to feel wanted. But he has always had full support from the fans and I think he owes us to be in the best shape he can be - yet from what I have seen he has practically hung up his boots. He is without a doubt one of the most gifted players I've seen play for Newcastle and I am annoyed that he is giving Pardew the excuse he needs not to play him. If he was fully fit and looked like he was chomping at the bit the pressure to play him would be enormous. Yet when you read about him coming back from holiday over weight it just takes the pressure off Pardew. And I for one am gutted about that. Therein lies the problem, "what you read" ie what the club and in particular what Pardew is saying about him. No he's not in peak physical form, but he's just come back, I bet he's nowhere near as bad as they're making out. Just another excuse to try and turn us against him and to ostracise him further from the first team. I know what i saw last season and it wasn't a fully fit Ben Arfa. And this season: http://i.imgur.com/rCGgOTo.jpg Come on - enough of the conspiracy theories. That pics from nearly 3 weeks ago.
  18. You only said something I mentioned a minute or so earlier in the Sunderland thread you stupid fucker
  19. I remember hearing we might be interest in him a little while ago, but apparently there was some disagreement (between people inside the club) on wether we should go after him or not.
  20. It's madness, that. I'm not sure. Sunderland are in a pretty desperate position, and Borini was their best player for the majority of last season, imo. There isn't likely to be an adjustment period, he has proven he can be a success there, and they are not likely to get anyone better. It would be the equivalent of NUFC overspending for Remy or Everton for Lukaku. Remy and Lakaku scored lots of goals, Borini didn't really score many at all, pretty poor record actually. Though he was one of their best players overall he's not comparable to either of those two, not even in relative terms.
  21. If he's Pardews suggestion then he'll have to cost very little for us to be interested, we really don't seem to value his scouting abilities, I wonder why?

Borini was certainly one of their best players last season and looked good most of the times I saw him play. But he's hardly the player to blow your transfer load on. They need a goal scorer and that's not really him. 7 goals from 32 appearances last season (25 starts/7 sub's) and 3 of those goals were pens.

  24. It was leaked to the press plenty of times that we wanted to give him a new contract in the past but he has never signed, and it certainly looks as if we dont want to offer him a deal now (unsurprisingly given his appalling attitude): To put another slant on it, he is quite happy waddling around putting no effort in while earning Premier League wages for another year, before leaving on a free, thereby maximising his wages in Greece / Turkey or wherever he will inevitably end up. One more contract should allow him to see out his career continuing to be a fat lazy bastard somewhere else, while still earning loads of money. On the other hand, if he heads to one of those backwaters now, he wont get paid anywhere near as much, and will miss a year of PL money.
  25. He'll be class in every way man, don't deceive yourself. If he could perform so well fo rus, can you imagine what he'd do in their team, with more opportunities to get forward, and not just defend all game? He'll be celebrated as the best right back, and people will act as if he didn't play for us, and wasn't so good. There will then be plenty wailing and gnashing off teeth on here, and I'll be joining in. I was one of Debuchy's biggest defenders when people had big doubts over him, but he's certainly not class in every way like, still a class player overall though.
