Agree, we should be fleecing them. Unfortunately I doubt the subject to replacement thing will be considered very important. They'll drag it to the last day if it brings in a couple of million more even if it means no replacement.

I'm starting to doubt whether the Cabaye fee is going to be anywhere near £20m. It better be. I don't care how much he goes for tbh, would have no bearing on what we spend on a replacement. Might not have any bearing on what we spend on a replacement, but it will effect our spend long term. If you don't think so count up what we've sold players for since coming back into the Premier League and then count up what we've bought players for in the same time.

I'm starting to doubt whether the Cabaye fee is going to be anywhere near £20m. 2 and a half years left on his contract, why wouldn't it be?
-
Our spend on transfers matches our transfer sales almost exactly since Carroll left. Unless you mean no chance of it being reinvested in the same window, which obviously happened with Carroll and is a worry, even more so with Kinnear in charge
-
Surely thats the point though? Aye him being out wouldn't have been the only factor but it was certainly one of them. Its being presented and often interpreted as if Cabaye was basically the only difference between the wins and losses though, when as you say he's only one reason. For example last season Cabaye came back right when we signed a few very good players who came into the side and helped us start winning again. Cabaye's a big reason for our wins, but those stats are a bit misleading.

Does my OCD upset you David?

The catering business probably was profitable. I meant the possibility of making a loss overall as a business due to less money coming from catering by keeping it in house. Just a theoretical and rhetorical question of course, I'm sure the difference in profit isn't massive. But no doubt the deal we got to outsource is making us more profit than we were getting keeping it in house, despite revenue being significantly lower.

What a load of bollocks that article is. Its basically just the opinion of the journalist on what he thinks might happen. "Inter have shown an interest so Newcastle might try to sign him now, maybe"
-
Yeah can't even see it happening in the summer Even when Yo goes they'll not shell out £10 mil+ on his replacement. Am convinced they just put out these stories to laugh at us even dreaming of such players. Suppose they're negotiating with his father ect all just to convince us that we might sign him?
-
If they win the cup they'll have had a better season than us regardless if they go down or not. Not sure it'll be seen that way if they don't come back up for a long time. They probably will come back up in a reasonable time frame like, but who knows (fingers crossed ).

Could you argue perch was first team? No. You could like, Pardew prefered him to Anita a lot last season. It was a mission of mercy to sell him in that case. I liked the lad but Anita's a far better player.

Sold Woodgate to Real. That was 04/05. Oh right, we sold Solano and Cort and release Acuna and Dabizas? Whether they all count or not is arguable.
-
Sold Woodgate to Real. EDIT: Or do you mean Jan 2003 and Summer 2003? We did allow a couple to leave that where first teamers for a while, but didn't sell anyone for cash in that time.
-
I'd assume never. Was going to suggest summer 2003 and January 2004, but I misread the question as last time we didn't buy, of course we got Lee Bowyer for free during that time so still made a signing.
-
Would you be so much more happy if we lost money but our revenue was higher due to keeping catering in house? We make less but we get to be on the nice top 20 table. We knew our revenue was lower than last season due to finishing much lower in the table. Our revenue will likely be higher than its ever been next season, no doubt we'll be well up that table, doesnt mean much unless it gets us success though.

Yanga-Mbiwa could have left for nowt but he agreed to sign a new contract so the club could get some money for him. Yet this cunt calls him an ass.. total fucking bell end

Ligue 1 maybe shit but PSG are decent contenders for CL and some of the worlds best players playing for them and its home. The nicely sized pay packet won't hurt either They may not be contenders for the Champions League for long if they don't get their spending under control. PSG getting done by FFP? I did say "may" This is the real test IMO anyway, they're clearly cheating with their sponsorships, to a far bigger degree than even Man City. Its so obscenely obvious as to be completely beyond doubt, under FFP rules it should be at least halved when they calculate the clubs qualifying revenue. So if they don't get sanctioned for that then it will prove that not only isn't FFP entirely effective (which it was never going to be), its in fact 100% useless. I won't hold my breath with it being a French club and Uefa being so corrupt (and Platini being behind the whole FFP thing), but we'll see.

Loan with a future fee of £7m plus addons according to that.

Because Italian Football is boring as fuck?

Makes no sense to wait until all the other Premiership clubs also have that 60m cheque burning in their back pocket. Guess we'll have a ready made excuse for not investing in a hugely inflated transfer market. I'd be surprised if most clubs haven't already spent that extra £20m in the summer before they received it. That was what people were advocating we do last window after all. Of course next summer they'll probably spend the following summers money in advance again So I suppose it doesn't make much difference in affect, just a bit more financially responsible. Which may help us if Ashley ever fucks off.

We're safe from relegation now. No need to immediately replace Cabaye when we could sell him now, replace him in the summer and save literally tens of pounds on wages. Cabaye on sweat shop wages like?
-
We won't get Cabella for 12m Euro's like, more like 15m maybe. You know, a lot of people have been saying for a while that we'll obviously sell Cabaye and not spend on a replacement, maybe get someone on the cheap eventually after struggling along without him. Instead we're apparently going to bring in a quality young attacking midfielder to replace him for 15m before we even let Cabaye go. Surely if that's the case you'd think people would at least see something positive in that?

None of that initial loan been repaid and no indication has been given that its planned so far. The £12m was to repay a loan from a couple of years back and it was made clear in the accounts at the time that it was a temporary loan to be repaid at a specific time. The main loan has always been down as a long term debt not to be repaid at any specific time. Doesn't mean he can't start to take is back at some time in the next few years, but the repayment of the temp loan isn't a indication that he will. Also if he wants to start taking the long term loan back he'll have to declare the intention to do so in the next accounts. So we should know well ahead of time if that's his intention.
