Can't say I've seen that much of him but his more recent goal record has certainly been good IMO. 33 goals in 82 ligue 1 games in the last two and a bit seasons. Hardly expensive either given his contract situation, which makes age less of a concern.

Agree with everything except it being difficult to argue against keeping the side the same. Any half decent manager should be looking to put out the right side to beat different teams, not just keep it the same because we won the last match. But unfortunately I agree Pardew will do exactly that.

One of the biggest reasons is that we're still on a sponsorship deal we signed in the Championship in those figures, while Sunderland are on a Premier League signed deal which will be quite a bit higher. Obviously once the Wonga deal shows up in a financial statement we should be in the mid 40's (think our current deal is only £2.5m per season while Wonga is £8-9m).

I've got no confidence that Pardew sees it as a different challenge unfortunately.

If we where to sign Long would we need Gomis? We would need someone capable og getting 20 goals but I don't think Gomis is that man. Cisse should really be that player, if he can't get back to form we should be replacing him with someone like that. If Cisse can't get it together then I'd like to see: In: Remy, Gomis, Long, Cisse replacement Out: Cisse, Shola, Obertan, Marveaux Very unlikely we're going to see that many changes in the next two windows, but I can dream.
