    Alan Pardew

He's a basket case, but outside of looking sane during interviews Pardew qualified for a rubber room game after game last season. Neither should be anywhere near the club, the way I see it is they're both terrible managers and I'd prefer one down one to go than Kinnear and Pardew still picking up their undeserved wage every week. If Pardew does leave there's always the tiny glimmer of hope that a new manager comes in or that Kinnear is only in charge temporarily. Then Ashley will really have to dig deep to find a man as bad to takeover. While Pardews here theirs no chance and also no chance of Kinnear going anywhere either (as it'll mean the club is doing well enough for Ashley to consider them both to be doing good jobs).

careful with that now man Would be a sideways step at worst as far as team selection and tactics. Based on what though? As far as team selection and tactics go Pardew set the bar about as low as I can imagine for any incoming manager last season. Kinnear shouldn't be manager any more than Pardew and he'd be more embarrassing during interviews. But I haven't forgotten the absolute insanity game after game from Pardew last season, so in short after Pardew I have nothing left to fear. If by some miracle he changes his ways and grows some balls then I'll join you in hoping he stays in case Kinnear takes over. But at the moment we're picking between a manager who's shit because he's a clueless coward and a manager who's shit because he's clinically insane.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I think if he stayed fit and played like he did at the start of last season for a good spell he'd have every chance of player of the year. All ifs of course, and we're not that lucky.

    Sunderland

Always thought Altidore was poor, he's scored plenty in Holland but that doesn't mean to much, his international record is pretty rank. Sunderland's certainly making loads of signings like, but are any of them any good? Its easy to sign shit.
  7. Attacking midfielder who's scored 4 goals in 40 games, do not want. Unless I'm wrong about the attacking midfielder bit, I admit that's just off wiki

Should we have waited for another day to make you happy? "Well he's not interested but lets wait a while before ending this, we should make it look substantial to keep strongbow69 happy". Really not sure what relevance there is in the length of time it took. Surely the only issue here is we didn't get him, which is definitely a pity.

He covers because he's excellent at it, ask Taylor to drop back, watch the game and intercept/mop up potential threats and see what happens. Does that site have the stats for the number of headers won vs lost for each player over the season listed somewhere?, that's really what I'd like to see. I'll have a look later like but I'm busy and I thought you might know where it is. We agree that Yanga-Mbiwa isn't necessarily weak anyway, which was my main point initially. We'll see more after he's bedded in if him and Coloccini can play together.

Erm, we wouldn't? The latest chronicle story about it from Ryder, makes no sense at all. Maybe it's the way the story is set out. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-cool-interest-wigans-4868992 Basically he writes like a monkey on ritalin, I don't think the age/blue print thing was meant to have anything to do with the "cooling interest" bit. Which could only mean our talks with him were less enthusiastic than we'd hoped. Pity because I think he's a good player.

Whelan has absolutely nowt to do with it. If he's not coming here its because he wants to go to Everton, simple.
  14. Also thinks Tom Ince is coming here. Definitely doesn't have a clue. When did he say all this?

Well obviously we disagree. I don't think either Williamson or Taylor are very good in the air and I don't think Coloccini is that poor either. Coloccini plays a certain role in defence which usually means dropping off, anticipating problems and snuffing them out. To allow Coloccini to do that we have Taylor as the defender attacking the ball, same with Williamson when he's played their. He goes for more headers so he's going to win more but I'd be interested to see this stat on percentage of headers won with Williamson and Coloccini. Like I said he's not the best their and can be slightly week even but mainly we have someone next to him attacking the ball to allow him to drop back and cover the problems caused by the likes of Taylor when the balls on the ground. I don't think that means it can't work any other way, not if you have a better all round defender than Taylor next to him. Right now I agree Yanga-Mbiwa isn't right for that, but once he's up to speed he might be. I just don't accept that he's weak and shit in the air based on half a season in and out of the side.

I don't think I'm as far along as you in the process of being drained of all hope, ambition and expectation. West Ham signed Carroll, Norwich get Wolfswinkel, Southampton are apparently after Damiao, Swansea are after Bony, and we're looking at washed up shite like Kone and Bent. They're after them?, so what we're also supposed to be after them. Do you think the Swansea fans will be hoping they don't sign anyone else that improves the squad until they sign the big name the papers have linked them with this week? Also I'd rather sign Kone than Carroll, the first can actually help us become a more fluid side, if Pardew allows it.

We have to buy exactly the player people want right this minute or it doesn't count, doesn't matter if the player we're after will improve us.

Or what if you'd seen "Newcastle agree fee for proven Premier League striker", you'd have thought "Darren Bent " and been extremely overwhelmed to see that its Kone.

I don't think he's looked any worse defensively than Santon though, granted we haven't seen much of him so its hard to judge, but then I don't rate Santon as a defender.
  20. Teasy

    Darren Bent

..and would also leave Santon open to getting ripped apart every game. Jonas goes then fine, but then we need an experienced proper left back. Santon can learn how to defend. Or be dropped for Haidara/Mbiwa Haidara makes Santon look like a great defender. He really doesn't like.

He's certainly not in the top bracket, but he's good enough and in some games has dominated there. Anyway the point is he improved a lot from his first season when he could easily have been described as weak as p*ss in the air. I think Yanga-Mbiwa should be given a season before he's declared weak as p*ss, that's all. Point is - it's one of the weaker areas of his game. Aerial ability needs to be one of the strongest points about his partner. Same thing with strength and pace. I think Taylor compliments Colo better. I'm sure Taylor will break down and we'll see that partnership anyway. Then we'll see. One of the weaker area's but still good enough. Its not like Taylor covers for him constantly in that area, its more that Coloccini isn't good enough in the air to cover for others (like the rather limp Williamson).

    Arouna Koné

Aye. So would I in his position. Unless we offer him double the money. Which we won't. I really don't think its going to take anything near double the money like But I agree on the same terms he'll probably go to Everton, especially with Martinez there now.

    Arouna Koné

Loosened them maybe?, we do now have someone else deciding on these matters. While I agree with not spending big money on older players there was never any sense in staying away from all players over 28 IMO.

I don't think its got anything to do with Perch though because its a release clause, they don't have the option not to deal with us.
