£8m rising to £12m is more like it, still over the odds like but not by a massive amount.

I know Whickam is young so a lot of this is about potential, but £12m for a lad who scored 8 goals in 37 in the Championship last season, really??

How's his final ball? Much better than Routledge's. He's a good crosser of the ball but I'm hoping he'll have a license to cut inside, much like Malouda does when he's playing at his best for Chelsea. It was funny seeing people shitting their pants about his injury record. Personally, I think he's been unlucky recently, and not necessarily a crock. I'm more concerned about his lack of strength and general consistency. As good as he is at taking on opponents he's the kind of player who will make a few mistakes, get down and disappear from the game. Problem is, Ben Arfa shares the same characteristic. This is why I personally think we shouldn't be so ready to shed Gutierrez - who's made of much sterner stuff than Marveaux and HBA. You know, it is very difficult to be consistent for a player if you don't play the game or when your coach only bring you on the pitch in order to save the game... All it means is that Marveaux and HBA are 2 very very very different players And to worry about Marveaux's injury recors is perfectly understandable because he didn't play since october or november. And, if i can express my thoughts, the problem with Liverpool as regards he "failed" the medical is strange, i mean it can possibly be true. Liverpool have already confirmed that he didn't fail his medical.

£1.1m is the first bid according to that article.

Didn't Doctor Evil ask for 1 million first as well? "Here's the plan, we use Neil Taylor to hold Newcastle to ransom for... 1 million pounds!" "*cough* Don't you think we should ask for more?, a million pounds isn't exactly a lot of money these days, Newcastle alone this season will make £100m" "Really?.. that's a lot of money. Ok then, we hold Newcastle to ransom for... 10 million pounds!!" http://esseoh.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/dr-evil.jpg

Which says more about the standard of right backs we've had rather than how good Beye was. True, but Beye was fucking mint. He was a decent defender that lost all sense of composure when he got over the half way line, I'd hardly say he was mint. You make him sound like he was on a similar level to Williamson

He's Chelsea's new manager which automatically makes him a cunt in my eyes.

How many people expected us to get three very good players in by mid June though? So what, teams should only sign bosman transfers then? I do think we've gotten better so far this summer, but if you're honestly happy with this as the bulk of our summer activity then I don't know what to tell you. It's a good start, but in terms of showing ambition to challenge for Europe then it's not enough yet, especially given what happened in January. No my point is this is an excellent start and much more than anyone would have expected by this stage of the window. There's no reason to think this is the bulk of our summer activity either. IMO what we've done so far bodes very well for the rest of the window.

Weak but good enough acceleration, good agility and crossing, I predict 15 assists next season!

Very good on FIFA IMO

The Mirror's a rag so I wouldn't take anything they say seriously unless they're quoting Nolan. Rocker, another reason for him leaving is probably that he realised he was no longer going to be a first team regular.

Pards has already said that the money off Liverpool will be reinvested into transfer fees and contracts. So whilst we've got Ba and Marvellous on freebies, their contracts have probably gobbled up a fair slice of the Carroll money already. Anyone who seriously expects to see £35million to be spent on transfer fees this summer, is just setting themselves up for disappointment. We need to focus less on what's being spent and more on whom its being spent on. The three deals so far all seem like good additions, although I'll be the first to admit I've never seen Cabaye and Marv play before. It's a good start, although offset by the loss of Nolan. All money coming into the club has to be balanced against all outgoings, however that doesn't mean that any contract we give a player should be fully paid using the money from Carroll. That would be quite a poor excuse for the club to use. You also have to take into account the fact that Carroll, Kuqi, Nolan and Campbells wages have now gone from the club, those will likely cover the wages of Cabaye, Marveaux and Ba, or pretty close at least.

How many people expected us to get three very good players in by mid June though? No I don't agree, I think the better move would have been to keep Kuqi, Campbell and Nolan and not even bring in those three players. We'd still have the same size squad, therefore we'd be no worse off obviously as squad size is all that matters. and we'd have saved £1m. We could then leave our transfer moves to the right time, which is surely the last day of the transfer window. That would put us in the enviable position of spending £30m on three desperation signings and we could all celebrate the sense of ambition that comes from spending lots of cash on overpriced flops

More like £45m-£50m.

He's shown that he's great in the Championship, nothing more, until he plays a season in the Premiership we won't really know how far he's come. I don't doubt there's a strong possibility he can be a good Premiership player and I don't think anyone's claiming he's shit. People are simply saying he's not that great, or certainly hasn't proven he is and has no reason to be such a cocky prick.
-
Taraabt's got some talent but he's never really shown much of it at Premiership level yet already he's acting like a super star, cocky little twat. He's not good enough to tie Ben Arfa's boots

This is the bit that made me laugh: That comment is so ignorant its hilarious I know its not Nolan saying it BTW and its probably just the fevered imagination of the illiterate cretin who wrote the article, at least I hope so..
-
Yeah I'd take him as a last resort, but I think we can do better.
-
I'd be disappointed if we signed him so I'm not fucked if they do.
-
That's probably why he was walking funny in that video on SSN. He had a hard on from Big Willy Kenwright nibbling his ear..
-
He was just strutting, Ranger stylee.
-
I wouldn't want Long here for £5m whether we go for Erdinc or not.

Had a quick look at one of their forums and to a man they believe everything certain "ITK" posters tell them, no matter how convenient. Apparently they'd agreed terms with Ba but then we came in and he came back asking for £70k. So because he prefers Everton over us (obviously) that means we must be paying him £75k
