They'll be in his contract, almost certainly. Aye, was just thinking that. He'll have some sort of worst case scenario relegation release clause. No way will they give him a release clause. Maybe a fixed fee he can leave for if we're relegated. Isn't that what a release clause is? A release clause normally means the player is automatically released from his contract on relegation. I'm sure it isn't. You hear people say "Oh yeah, blah blah has a £5m release clause if Wigan get relegated" etc. etc. Why would any team put a clause in their players' contract that said they'd go for nowt if they got relegated? I can see a club wanting to do it for an older player on big wages (ones unaffordable in a lower division). Other then that it would be at the request of the player, and clubs agree to some crazy things if they want a player badly enough. I'm sure some players have had basic release clauses in the past, as in no fee, just an automatic release from their contract on relegation, can't remember a specific case though. Since you mentioned no fee I assumed you meant a release clause without one, just a misunderstanding.

Guthrie penalty. Also interesting to know that of the 4 goals Wigan have scored against us at their ground over the years 3 of them were scored by Ryan Taylor.

He had no ligament or muscle injury, just a clean break in a good position (medically). Baring a mental problem I don't see any reason to worry, but obviously he'd have some kind of medical before any contract was signed.

No I'd take 4/1 for a Newcastle win though if you're really offering it

When is Shola supposed to be back?
-
Put in a couple of good crosses which could have lead to goals. However didn't do enough overall, then again no one did.

2:1 win to Newcastle.

We were 22 points from 18 games that season yeah, but we then only got 2 points from the next 7 games (12 points from the remaining 20 games). If we performed like that with our best team on the pitch it would have concerned me, but as it is I'm confident we'll do much better with the likes of Nolan, Enrique and Ameobi back (not to mention Ben Arfa eventually).

Its for sale in the same way most clubs are for sale, there's no info to suggest he's still actively looking for buyers though.
-
As long as it reflects our history pre 70's I'd be ecstatic with that (fuckit I'd be really happy with early 90's even)

And just because shearer did it, doesn't mean Ben Arfa will. Players like him are easily found in the premiership? At 1.5M i don't think so. Cahill, Duff, Parker, Nolan, N'zogbia there are loads of them, average players that have a little bit of extra quality that help mid-table or strugglins sides. £1.5m would only be just under valuation imo given Barton's reputation and past problems. If it wasn't for his reputation he'd command £4-5m. The injury argument works both ways but you failed to acknowledge that, your being overdramatic and and reading too much into a story that is probably bollocks anyway. Duff??.. anyway none of the players you've mentioned outside of Zog (who's a cunt and would never come here, and would cost £10m anyway) have the ability to do what Barton's been doing for us lately. Barton has been brilliant so far this season, an absolutely key player. To say that he'd be easy to replace is nonsense. Anyway I wouldn't sell him for £6m at the moment, the fact that £1.5m is even being mentioned just goes to show how incredibly dense some of the media are in this country. Long term I'd be open to offers (he may not continue this form long term and he is on big wages and a notorious trouble maker), but right now he's too important to let go.

If we can only get another 5 games postponed until after his return he can possibly play the 25 games necessary to force to club to buy him
-
He may have kept us up despite the horrible Football we played. But it was far from guaranteed considering we'd only played three top four teams in 21 matches and had Arsenal, Manure, Liverpool, Villa (all top 5 teams and all away from home) and Manure again at home in the next 8 games.
-
People's opinions of Barton and Nolan in the past are quite irrelevant. The fact is Barton makes us tick now, without him we don't have a creative outlet. Without Tiote we are too weak in midfield and without Nolan we have to rely purely on Carroll for goals, hence we play like shit without them. All of those players were missing in patches over the course of those 5 games (some of them for just about all of them) as well as our best central defenders. Can't believe that people would think those missing players didn't have a profound effect on the way we played and our results. Sorry to bring this thread back, but I only just noticed this post.

You tell her Ronaldo, lets boo that blind man, do it for Hughton..

Pardew first six games manager record truly is appalling. What is it for each team like? If i remember correctly... 1 Reading 2 West Ham 2 Charlton 0 Southampton Checked the Charlton one, he did also get two draws as well for a total of 8 points from the first 6 games. To be fair that's a good start for a club that had only 12 points from the previous 19 matches.

Its welll known that Charlton fans Hate Pardew, Its only because he is not Alan Curbishley! And here was I thinking it was because he got them relegated from Premiership, then left them dead bottom of the Championship? Charlton were on 12 points from 19 games with a -20 goal difference when Pardew came in. He got them 22 points from the next 19 games, really don't think he could be blamed for sending them down like.

HAHAHA FUCK ME! He's too stylish for us. Decent young manager though. http://d.yimg.com/i/ng/sp/empics/20091201/21/3207606777-01122009210252.jpg Everybody hurts. Mad World

Stick your house on it, looks like people can still make some money out of this debacle. Yeah. And then the announcement will be "until the end of season"...which doesnt count as permanent..at least on Betfair. They'll still pay out after 10 matches according to their terms and conditions for that bet.
